Why We Interview People We Disagree With

  • In this episode, we’re tackling a question we receive a lot: Why do we interview people we disagree with?
We'll discuss why we've interviewed controversial guests like Todd White, Heidi Baker, and Isaiah Saldivar and yet also cessationists like Dr. Tom Schreiner, Dr. Stephen Nichols, and Cultish, to name a few. Does alignment equal agreement? We'll also examine if there's anyone we won't interview. What is our boundary line?
Our mission on The Remnant Radio is to help people break out of their theological echo chambers and truly engage with the Scriptures. By exposing ourselves to different perspectives from fellow Christian brothers and sisters, we challenge our own understanding of the Bible, which pushes us back to the Scriptures for further study. We encourage you to do the same. Whether your beliefs shift or become more resolute, the important thing is that they are rooted in a genuine, thoughtful engagement with God's Word.
Tune in to learn more about why we believe these conversations are crucial for a strong, well-rounded faith.

Rapper KB once said some years ago something along the lines of if you only surround yourself with people that are the same as you then you actually don't love people, you love yourself.
That quote has stuck with me. The depth of theology in that quote altered my walk.

It's kind of strange that you guys have to even do this episode. Every week, you say in your intro the purpose of the podcast. And yet ppl are still asking this question...it's a bit puzzling. It's almost as if some ppl are numb to or don't want the answer already given 🤔

Because they interview people whose “disagreements” are egregious. Think Isaiah Saldivar or “Apostle” Pagani. You’re a step away from interviewing Bill Johnson, and then you’re a step away from interviewing Glenn Beck. And notice how they won’t interview Catholics or Orthodox Christians unless it’s a guy like Ken Fish who agrees with them?
And who’s the arbiter of “these are non salvific issues”? Doesn’t God say that anyone who adds or removes a word from the Word is damned? Many complementarians would say that about egalitarians, many cessationists say that about continuationists. The Creeds are arbitrary determiners of “salvific issues”.
This whole video is just an excuse to platform heretics they have common ground with, and ignore real Christians they disagree with. This is obvious by the fact that no video ever had a debate or a true disagreement. They don’t often raise real disagreements, ironically they just build a greater echo chamber of charismatic leaning American fundamentalist Protestantism.

I really appreciate the humility that Remnant Radio brings to the overall theological and doctrinal conversation of the whole church. We need more of that in the church. More Christians need to realize that two things can be true at the same time, a person can have differing conclusions on secondary issues and still be Christian. It is still possible to stand for the truth and also cordially disagree. The world needs this type of mentality, and the church should be leading the way.

The women saved by child baring is actually a reference to the prophecy of the seed of the women crushing the head of the snake. Which is of course Mary and Jesus.

That wasn't an accident, He did it for a reason, and Eve was created to be his helper, Eve knew perfectly well not to eat the fruit as her initial answer to Satan clearly displays, the fact she got that information second hand from Adam makes no more difference than us recieving instruction second hand from the apostles of Jesus.

It always astounds me how eager many "believers" seem to be to heretic hunt and mock. Yes there are people who promote harmful teachings and heresy and it should be addressed...but it's very clear it grieves the Holy Spirit, and He desires for them to turn back. We should have the same mentality-- first caution to ensure truth, then sorrow and self-reflection. "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

26:05 to clarify for anyone listening who isn’t familiar with TheosU: Gabe Finnochio was not representing TheosU in his debate with Dr. Brown on Ruslan’s channel. He was only representing his personal brand “The Reactionary Christian.” He made very clear and public statements about this and the others at TheosU (most who disagree with Gabe on either the topic or approach of that debate) would also say that he does not represent TheosU as a whole.

You guys say you are against NAR but seem to platform them whenever you get the chance to. Examples: Isaiah Saldivar, Heidi Baker, Mike Bickle, Todd White, Michael Brown and Alexander Pagani.
Who’s next? Kenneth Copeland? NO? why not? Most of the above people love Kenneth. Todd calls him his Spiritual Father. That’s not just “guilt by association” that’s guilt by recommendation. Daniel Kolenda’s ministry has taken 56 million in donations from Kenneth which has a school that Dr. Michael Brown is paid to teach at. Interesting that Mike Brown won’t criticize Kenneth in any substantial way isn’t it.? :/ Mike Brown also has strong ties to NAR, was apart of a NAR organization and worked with Peter C Wagner and then later lied about it.

Keeping NAR “ambiguous” keeps them from calling out who they don’t want to. Mike Bickle is the perfect example. He’s OBVIOUSLY NAR but they didn’t think so because of their extremely narrow and ambiguous definition of what it is or what it includes so they ended up interviewing him and doing 16 videos about his prophetic history.
Todd White is another perfect example of this. Unfortunately unless Todd has a Mike Bickle situation exposed they likely won’t ever admit this even though it’s crazy obvious that he’s NAR and promotes false prophets/heretics like Kenneth Copeland.
The odd part is at the very same time they believe places like The UPPERROOM are NAR because of their personal experience. If UPPERROOM is NAR it’s incoherent to say that Todd White isn’t.

Great discussion. I say, it's high time in the charismatic movement, that we bring things to the light, staying scriptural. The past errors could have been avoided if there was some measure of accountability. A true servant of God will want to be corrected, when necessary. What has happened is, it's been a free for all, and so it's easy for non-charismatics to just avoid the gifts altogether. By the way, I attended your conference in Lombard. Michael and Josh, you both gave my daughter the same prophetic word, two days apart, and without knowing the other had given her a word. It's been greatly encouraging to her in this difficult season of ministry. This is an example of prophecy to edify the body of Christ. Thank you.

You say, that just because you invite someone it doesn't mean you fully agree with them. Ok, in case of cessationists it is clear, that you believe in different things, but in many other cases it is not😌
If you invite heretics I think you should confront them more boldly. I feel like you are too nice and a bit affraid to be more clear. Yes, we shouldn't judge, but we should confront our brothers in Christ in love!

Satan wants to hurt the body through bending, counterfeiting, and twisting truth. Satan also wants to hurt the body through manipulating believers to attack, wound, and harm other believers. Our enemy uses BOTH strategies effectively so we would always be wise to humble ourselves before dealing with the doctrines others hold. I believe Remnant is marked by this humility in any of their content I have viewed and appreciate their contribution immensely.
Anyone who enters the “doctrines of others” sphere lightly or without humility might not adequately understand our enemies intent to wound the church by and through the church.

You won’t interview Gabe, but you interviewed David Diga Hernandez, Hadi Baker?? What??? are you serious? That’s sad! I think it’s time to unsubscribe. You’re becoming a bit too emotional because you’re in love with Dr Brown who is friends with Vald Savchuk and David Diga who are doing more damage to the body of Christ than Gabe will ever do. It’s not wise to judge a person by one debate. Gabe is doing a lot of good for Christendom.

I have been a subscriber for David Diga Hernandez' Ministry for awhile, though there are times that I agree with him, I have also had reservations about several things about his ministry, do you mind sharing your viewpoints about why or why not he is a pastor who is doing damage to the Body of Christ? It will give me some clarity of mind about him that is hard to overcome by one's self.

Mahn, I feel like it went both ways in the Gabe v Brown debate.. 🤔😌 Brown just seemed to get insulted way too quickly. Like Gabe was using comedic hyperbole to poke at Brown's position, which is fair game in a debate in my opinion.. Brown just took it personally and melted down intstead of pushing back appropriately and now everyone feels like they have to side with Brown or they're a bad person..😅😭🫠 Josh couldn't help but laugh when talking about the prophets of Baal reference because it's hilarious, but he still had to say that Gabe mean since that's the popular opinion..🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

the comment is out of place but anyhows: I recently wrote on a dispensationalist vlog that I thought dispensationalism was a hoax, but I was praying for Macarthur with sincerity. Yeah sort of strong, but the response was something like "get rest or let it rest". Nonetheless, it validated what I had believed about a lot of Christian leaders. .. dispensationalists self knowingly do not believe in Christ or even Christianity, they are just in this as a vocation and business or non-Christian cause. Maybe what a lot of non-Christians see and why God's flock is thinning. I do believe it is time for those to stand up to the hoax. The bible does state doing so will cause one severe trials so I understand.

I feel like they are more opened to different hereticals (Heidi, Todd) than it is good for us, charismatics. I understand, that they want to give the chance to many charismatics to explain they errors, bcs maybe they are just simply misunderstood, but many times it ends with these people defending their hererical teachings😢 it is sad😌

@@DiGi377 I know hard to accept, but we should see these people through the lens of the Holy Ghost, spiritually, and not with earthly vision. Yes, she did many good things in Africa, but she is still teaching heresies and many times contradicts to herself (lying). Plus she is friend with Kenneth Copeland, Bill Johnson etc. You can find here many exposing videos (but again, not every video is well done bcs many times people just simply want to drag her down. You has to discern!)
I have the gift of discernment and knowledge very strong and I know when and how the HG warns me and I want to be obedient to Him, that's why I don't listen to her, nor the above mentioned "teachers".
Of course you don't need to believe to me and you can listen to whoever you want, you have free will, but I don't want to be silent. Of course the best will be to confront her personally, just this is unrealistic. I'm not judging her, simply want to see her repent from her heresies. And the same principle should apply to me, to you, to everyone. Nobody is perfect, but I think we as brothers and sisters in Christ should confront/warn each other. The problem with these famous christians is that you can't do it face to face, but at least I can pray for her.
      Blessings!
