    At the 5:10 mark you test the 4 wire heat sensor. Am I supposed to get continuity between all 4 wires or just the ones at the 12 and 6 position as you look at them? I have continuity only between 3 wires.

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts  3 месяца назад

      Yes you should get continuity, but they should cycle on and off base on temperature.

      @appliancerepairshorts I had the same issue, I have a new one with no wires attached with continuity only going between the top and bottom shiny prongs, is that right? Our thermal high limit still has continuity.

    Thanks for the video. My Mom's dryer (gtd33eask0ww) is also not heating but it spins and goes through the cycle. There has been a time or two where She's felt a little warmth but then it stops heating again. Is it easier to test the thermostats from the back or is that not an option? I've been meaning to troubleshoot the dryer but haven't had the time and it looks a little intimidating to take apart from the front.

      Pretty straightforward, start with removing the two 1/4” screws on the console. Tap it backwards with your hand. You can just let it free hang. Under the console you have two Phillip screws. Move to the door and open it. Look up, and see two more screws. Now you can slightly push the top to gain access to the front. The top has two screws on the front. Then two more screws in front by the model number. Remove the door switch wires. Remove the belt and remove the drum. Now test your element and and all the thermostats

      Do this before anything, remove the timer knob and see if it is damaged. I have seen many that are cracked. Or remove one of the other ones and put it on the timer and test the dryer

      What are you working on? Maybe I can help you out if I don’t have a video. I usually just go to or say what needs to be fixed. Most people just want to know how to get it done.

      @@appliancerepairshorts working on a very similar ge. It has the coil style element, but about everything else seems the same. So far I've skated by fixing my dryers not having a multimeter, but I think I need it with this one. I'm also skeptical of my 220 outlet given that I was told this dryer should be working, and I had the same no heat issue with my last Kenmore. Kenmores panel died while I was working on it or Id just be working on that. I think with your instruction here I should be able to figure it out, but I'll let you know! Thanks for the response.

      @@Carterwray1 sorry for the late reply. Yes get a multimeter to start with. If you have 240 at your outlet. Start with the high limit. Also if your element is not grounded, you might need to check your cycling thermostats. You can use a heat gun to heat them up. You should hear them click off then back on as it cools down. I have a video on that specific. Make sure your venting isn’t causing long dry time. Also a bad motor switch can cause a No heat. I also have a video on testing the motor/centrifugal switch. Thanks for watching. Let me know how you made out.

      Hi Mark, thanks for watching! The two thermostats and the hi-limit were replaced. This was recorded 4 months ago and the dryer was sold then, working great. It was sold with a warranty and all went well

      I’m answering questions actually. No you have to remove the top then the front. You will have to disconnect your door switch wires. Then remove the belt. I should have a video on putting it back on. Remove the drum. Use the belt to help you remove it. So if it not heating, it could be the thermostats, motor timer or your breaker is tripped

    We just moved into a different house recently. Since we have been here and starting doing laundry, the dryer isn't getting hot enough to dry the clothes in once cycle. So we have to do 2 to 3 cycles. One thing we have noticed now is that there is condensation on the inside door of the dryer. The vent is on top of the house. I replaced the duct that connects to the dryer to the wall. With the limited information I provided for you, what do you think it could be ? I was thinking the duct that leads to the roof might be clogged. Thank you for your time. The dryer is a G.E , probably older than the one you're working on in the video.

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts  2 года назад

      I’m so sorry, sometimes notifications do not show up. There is a screen on the exit side of the vent and it needs to be removed. I’ll link a video showing how to remove it.

      In my experience, taking longer to dry AND moisture inside the drum can be an indication the lint screen needs to be washed and rinsed until water flows directly through it and does not pool up.
      Basically same as a blocked vent but closer to the drum exhaust not allowing heat and moisture to escape the drum like it should.
      Note: Hope I have not already responded to this. I was researching something else when I came across this.

    I have a GE dryer. I bought it in 2011. When it turns on, there is no heat. There was a power outage in my area and I don't know if the outage caused the fuse to go out?

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts  2 года назад

      So on some GE dryers you might have a fuse in the back where the cord is connected. I would need a model number to further help you. So a no heat could be an element, a thermal high limit a timer or as simple as a bad timer knob. Remove the knob and switch it from one of the other knobs and see if it heats. Keep me posted

      @@essentialeugene so that unit does not take a fuse. So for a no heat, first check the breaker . If you can test the outlet do so . You should get 240 from left to right. 120 from left to center and another 120 right to center. Center is top or bottom depending on your outlet. Keep me posted
