    Thanks, no nonsense, but detailed, can’t ask for more than that! The dealer just quoted me $125 for servicing just the transfer case, I had them do the trans, service for $635, but I typically do the other services myself. After choking on the $125 for a quart and a half of fluid I thought I’d look up a video making sure it’s an easy as I figured.

    Good video. My question is if AC Delco also makes transfer case fluid, how do we know to use the ATF instead? Didn't they make fluid specifically for the transfer case?

    What oil do you recommend to be used for the 2019 Silverado 4x4 ?

  • @fuoman100

    So I keep getting mixed info on the mobil 1 lv atf hp fluid saying it's compatible with dex vi. The older black label says it is however I ordered 2 quarts and got the blue lable which doesn't mention it on the back. Would this also work and be compatible. In my t case 2020 silverado.

    • @mattmeehan9944
      @mattmeehan9944 5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, blue label is the newer, improved formulation over the old black label. This is what most recommend using to prevent or fix trans shudder & rough shifts when doing ATF flush & fill on our trucks.
      Dealers in the US use ACDelco Blue Label. Most DIYers seem to go w/ the Mobil 1 for xfer case & trans tho, and Valvoline 75w-90 synthetic gear oil for both differentials. This is what I'm using after a decent amt of research.
      I have the 8-Spd 8L90 trans btw.

      @fuoman100 5 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the reply, I grabbed some mobil 1, I'll look to grab valvoline for the diff, I still find it odd there are 2 different gm part numbers for the diff fluids. I've seen others using ams oil. What's your take on the ams oil

    • @mattmeehan9944
      @mattmeehan9944 5 месяцев назад

      I considered using Amsoil. It's good stuff, but pricey. I don't really tow w/ my truck right now, which puts way more stress on the drive train, and I'm not putting crazy miles on it (~15K miles/year). If I start beating on the truck more, I'd prob give the Amsoil a try. 🤙

      @@MasterJacksquestion my Manuel says 75w-90 for the transfer case and that the 1500 series rear diff’s take 75-85. Would one be fine using the 75w-90 in that unit? A pretty good auto parts store is saying their system says it’s fine to use it in the rear. The 2500/3500 calls for 75-90. That 5 gonna make a difference? I assume fresh oil is better than old. Front differential rather sorry. Not transfer case 😂🎉 front diff. 😮

      @@JFEnterprize I wouldn't hesitate to use 75W90 in the front or rear diff.

    • @greghennecke4789
      @greghennecke4789 7 месяцев назад

      If you have a 10speed transmission, you have to use the special fluid. You fill it until it starts running out the fill hole. Run it up to 186F (check your dash fir trans temp) then open tje fill plug and and let it drain until it is barely seeping out and close it up. That is the procedure for the trucks. They also call for replacing the 2 bolts that hold the filter in place....like $16-$20 for those.

  • @nathanchannoi8571
    @nathanchannoi8571 8 месяцев назад

    Probably a dumb question, you use transmission fluid for the transfer case? Same fluids?

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  8 месяцев назад +1

      The transfer case uses Dex VI ATF, however, the 10-speed transmission calls for Dex ULV ATF (ultra-low viscosity).

      Interesting, thanks for sharing. I'm showing 1.6qts for the transfer case on 1500, 2500, and 3500. This one would have been grossly overfilled with almost another full quart.
