Regular oil is fine and arguably better then dex. Only downfall is if the seals on the trans and tcase take a shit, they start mixing. Normally trans into tcase tho.
Oh yeah thank God I changed mine 09'lmm it had 3/4 qt transmission fluid! 5w-30w Mobile 1 full synthetic 2 1/4 qts as advised by Rockland Gear Tranzzila!
I refilled my 05 yukon after 52 ounces leaked out. It holds 64 ounces total. I ran out of auto trak fluid after 26 ounces and made a mix of 50/50 merc3 atf to 10w30 motor oil for the rest. So far so good.
Looks like a good quality rebuild. Check your front and rear differential fluids after all the water shenanigans you guys have been up to. However, I was mostly impressed with that Pink Panther Styrofoam.
Glad you got the Duramax back up and running. They did a great job on the rebuild, But from the looks of it they swapped it and sent you a new rebuild one. At least you can be happy your favorite is back on the road. Love the vids keep them coming.
It's been 5yrs since you made this vid. How's the transfer case holding up? Did they up grade the entire case to an aluminum case? I'm about to order one from Kodak on Monday for my 07 Duramax.
On my old lb7 dually i ran motor oil in it, when it popped a hole in the case from that dumb clip my drivetrain guy was shocked i didnt burn everything up it had no fluid in it for over 100 miles. Not sure if it was the motor oil or just luck.
In Alaska got my transfer case from Kodiak literally would’ve been here within three days took five because plane delay mine is packed even better than in the video spray formed solid awesome service
I used to sell vintage speakers on ebay and I'd use Styrofoam sheeting like that to package them. I'd buy the sheets from lowes or home depot. I'd buy them at thrift shops for not a lot of money and would make like 200 to 300 for a pair of speakers I picked up for like 15 or 20 dollars. Not all speakers are good for resale like that you have to know what your looking for.
I have seen mainly ATF in chain driven transfer cases amd gear oil 80-90 in gear driven transfer case (NP 205) some people still run the ATF in the gear driven cases also. Alot of motorcycle gear cases use engine oil so it not that abnormal I guess they found a better lube to recommend (syn. Engine oil in this case) maybe it pumps better or something..?
Chain-type transfer cases have an oil pump driven by the rear driveshaft, this oil pump can't pump heavy gear oil. Thus, something lighter(thinner) such as atf or light motor oil is necessary.
Yes Sir 5w-30w full synthetic motor oil Quieted down my transfer case. She was down to 3/4 of quart of tranny fluid.😳 Lmm 142+ thousand and running great 🤠☠️🏁🛠⚒️💨

Do you know if he rebuilds CVT Transmissions I have a 2018 Nissan Sentra Midnight Edition with 180000 miles on it, it's still drivable but it shudders when I do rolling stop's and it's starting to to slip a little bit but as soon as I feel it start to slip I just let off the gas for a second and it grabs again it also still seems to pull uphill just fine, I have actually put almost 100,000 miles on the car with it driving this way and for some reason it hasn't gone into limp mode, I have also realized that the menu on the car says my average speed 29MPH maybe I should try putting a speed Sensor on the car and see how it does. I definitely want to get it fixed because my average fuel mileage is 43mpg and my best is 54 but it's mainly ran up and down the highway commuting from Penn. to Baltimore for work.
great vida, andy ! I really like watching all of your vids...especially the "ride alongs" ...my condolences to that girl that passed away..(sorry I can't remember her name... but GREAT STUFF.
Hey andy when is the event in peach bottom? Also with all due respect I think if ghost was running crazy numbers prior to sundays event, your words wouldve held more weight. Even if track prep was 100% its not like you were running crazy numbers prior. Seems like you were trying to blame something. Youre definitely improving though I just think youve got a ton of time to keep working on it and 1 event with bad track prep isnt going to inerfere with that improvement a whole lot. Anyway, looking forward to the new shop and how ghost does. I think a cool red or black dfr logo would look cool on the doors with the white. Market the hell out of your shop. Maybe have shane make a dfr wrap for the duramax and make an awesome tow rig?
That's just what GM wants. It's easier using the same fluid for both the trans/tcase and in an event they start mixing fluid because seals went bad. But oil over filled a tad is the best from what I've heard. I personally run dex3 because it simply works lol
hes like a cat....look at my butt hole....look at it! is to amazing jsut look at that.......clicks 1/4 inch forward on the time.....still....."wow just look at it!"
All this video does is talk about how pretty the transfer case is. You should be talking about what that particular shop specifically does as part of their remanufacturing process and exactly why it stands out from the rest. Also, the title has absolutely nothing to do with 95% of the video.
Regular oil is fine and arguably better then dex. Only downfall is if the seals on the trans and tcase take a shit, they start mixing. Normally trans into tcase tho.
I just came across a comment on another channel that claimed that's not possible or a myth...ugh!
Fact: That transfer case was not painted by Sendit Steve or Streetsped717
What did it cost to have ur transfer case done by them?
"My transfer case blew up," is slang for, "I ran my transfer case out of oil and destroyed it." LOL!
Sorry Ande, I had to poke a bit of fun at you.
Oh yeah thank God I changed mine 09'lmm it had 3/4 qt transmission fluid! 5w-30w Mobile 1 full synthetic 2 1/4 qts as advised by Rockland Gear Tranzzila!
We have 4 duramax's at my Work, We also deal with Kodiak Truck, only 20 minutes from my shop they do a great job
What about in a chain driven 261 LD transfer case.ATF or 5w-30?
I refilled my 05 yukon after 52 ounces leaked out. It holds 64 ounces total. I ran out of auto trak fluid after 26 ounces and made a mix of 50/50 merc3 atf to 10w30 motor oil for the rest. So far so good.

I agree, i even ran my vent hoses up to the firewall and coiled them so deep water couldn't get in.
Glad you got the Duramax back up and running. They did a great job on the rebuild, But from the looks of it they swapped it and sent you a new rebuild one. At least you can be happy your favorite is back on the road. Love the vids keep them coming.
Andy you will have the Duramax running 11's in the quarter before Ghost with that transfer case.

We also know how to open a box.
New paint, Let me go ahead and scratch the FUCK out of it on the table.
Pretty sure they use an aluminum pump instead of doing a pump rub kit. I wish I knew about them before my tcase was replaced.

Been running valvoline 5w30 syn. In my 263xhd for 4 years and 60k ish. Change it every 10k and 3 quarts👍🏼
Give Amsoil a try, you wont regret it.
Do you find the motor oil maybe produces less wear on the chain and gears, also the bearings? Thanks...

DiabloformulaRacing Great Video I'm glad your Durtymax's Custom Built Transfer Case is in the Can't to see your Durtymax up and Running again

The bearing on the shaft right on Kodiak ! Fully 🏁🛠🏁
Who else was waiting to watch him one hand lift the TC?
The trucks manual says to use ATF but it has been found that 5/30 fully synthetic shed heat alot faster and protects the transfer case way better
I don’t think I heard u say but if u don’t mind me asking what did the TC coast from them ?

Just a heads up...50% of the video is focused on packaging.
Wow they did a superb job for you Andy that is one impressive job I wonder if that is powder coat not paint.
Hello, what's the benefits of running 5 W 30 full synthetic motor oil in your transfer case? Thanks.....
246 in a duramax, nice. Did they add clutches?
great vida, andy ! I really like watching all of your vids...especially the "ride alongs"
...my condolences to that girl that passed away..(sorry I can't remember her name... but GREAT STUFF.
Im not gonna lie is the first thing a person says before they lie lol
Great video, can't wait for the install. Keep up the good work
Looks official as hell
Tell me why I have been trying to find a video on this, been subbed to you for years, but needed to look specifically for you to find this video.

Amsoil 5w 30
There 20min from my house looks like I am sending my 6L80 there from my Yukon
Quality of this channel has surely dropped. Nothing but sales pitches.
Do you not like finding out about good companies that do great work?
Not as much as we enjoyed installs and tearing shit up. Kinda seemed boring like a new StreedSpeed video tbh. No hate just my opinion.
I think that oil is light especially under pressure. I would use A 75-90
Have you seen how light the stock oil is that originally goes in the tcase. 5w30 is way heavier compared to DeX 3 and dex 6
75w90 is gear oil. that is way to thick of oil for this case. the 5w30 full synthetic works great.
Here in Barbados every single jeep/suv transfer case uses that oil and the makers say use that oil. That diff uses 80w-90
@@kodiaktruck3583 what's your thoughts on 5w30 in our cases that you haven't builtm
@@jonathoncatterson8901 run it. you will be fine.
Kodiak Truck is shown in Truck Master's videos whom has a channel
You Can also Watch Sendit Steve’s Video of Andy Takin It Off-road
“Look at this” 😄
I thought normally ATF in those

I wonder if they recomend running motor oil in a transfer case that hasn't been rebuilt
Good question
Old question, but yes. Recommended for transfer cases regardless of fresh rebuild or not
I have not seen your vids for some time. Was woundering where your other mach. is. He was pretty dam good.
hes like a cat....look at my butt hole....look at it! is to amazing jsut look at that.......clicks 1/4 inch forward on the time.....still....."wow just look at it!"
Nice put her in already
First of all. Buy a Ford and you won't have these problems. Ford parts don't break. Just time kills the motors sometimes
Pussy Eater 338 struggling to take you seriously with that username

hmmmm still trying to decide if you deserve that beautiful piece... wish I had that Frye gif I could place here.
Am I the only one who gets bombarded with Pretty Women the Musical commercials? WTF 3 times already for this one video.
Stop talking and get on with it, my god!
Normally but transmission oil in them. Interesting....
U should lift the dirty max
Definitely
That's too nice for the truck
It's weird. I see doppelganger's of you all the time... Dudes that look EXACTLY like you... Locally and on tv/youtube
Dam that be purty
Sadly is going in that broken down turd.
Glad to know that the Duramax is back up and running!
