10 Gifts All Backpackers Will Love!
#backpacking #hiking #camping #giftguide #christmas #backpackinggear #2023 #winter #outdoors #travel #adventure #mirandagoesoutside
is it bad that I'm using this as a gift guide for stuff to give myself? 😅
The perfect way to use this video
Same - just subscribed to Trails (no idea it even existed until now)
Why would it be bad….?
Nope!
Self love is important my friend
The bear can filled with stuff was a great idea!!! Immediately went to REI’s website and bought one plus some meals and snacks. Like a backpacker’s stocking. Lol.
So glad to hear about Trails magazine! I used to subscribe to Backpackers but sadly can’t find it anymore. This will be perfect!!
For me it's all the consumable stuff I want! I have one of just about every piece of gear, and two of most things, but I hate spending money on expensive freeze-dried backpacking food. People think it's weird but I love getting a couple of peak refuel meals as a gift!
10 Things Miranda Can Catch and Also She Talks About Them A Bit!
DON JUAN!!!!
In addition to kula cloth, a bidet!
For gas stove users, the refill adapter, and adapters for other kinds of canisters. The refill one is just amazing. I find half used canisters here and there and end up not needing to buy half as much fuel.
Also, when legislation permits, a twig stove is so cool and environmentally friendly, so that is my first gift to any backpacker/hiker friends.
Had to pause the video and quick buy the Miranda specific kula!! Pumped!!!
Merry Christmas Miranda and Rainer! Excited for whatever adventures you get into in 2024!
Merry Christmas to you as well! Big things happening in 2024! Many adventures planned and we’ll be sharing them all.🎄🎉
@@RainerGoldenare you and Miranda dating/married? Sorry, new to the channel
@@RainerGoldenare you still considering coming to the UK?
Hey Miranda. For the Trails magazine, one thing I'd love to read about is hiking / camping with a dog. I have a Samoyed named Reginald, and I'd love to hike with him, but it scares me with all the preparation that would be required.
Also, for stocking stuffers, small carabiners to help organise gear, and a pocket bellows to help with lighting campfires!
Loved the video! It would be awesome if you could post another one next year but a little bit earlier because secret santa exchanges and just in general gift buying is easier to do and we have a better chance to get it in time the earlier we order it, i say this because where i live there aren’t many shops for stuff like this and buying online is the only option. A side from that i loved the video. Keep up the incredible work- a fan from mexico
Consider this video an extra early entry for next year 😂
That kula cloth is awesome. Happy holidays Miranda and crew. Thanks for a year of awesome videos.
4:06 neat cloth!
I use my Sea to Summit sleeping bag liner instead of a quilt for summer camping when I know the temps are not going to get below 60° F. Less weight and packs smaller too.
Merry Christmas Miranda, Rainer and crew! Thanks for all the great adventures and information. Can’t wait to see what you do next! Happy new year everyone 🎉
Miranda, you are a ray of Light!!! I always look forward to your videos, and they never disappoint! Merry Christmas to you, Rainer, and The Crew! May your New Year bring you all much joy and the Happiest of Happy Trails!
With love,
Russ
Those toe sleeves are AMAZING. I bought some after your video on how you stay warm in the winter, they're total game changers! I hope that you, Rainer, Tucker, and the crew have a safe and happy holiday season!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I appreciate your gift ideas. Keep it up!
Merry Christmas Miranda 🎄I love your shows
Great list! Happy Holidays and New Year 🎉
I saw you use the long spoon in your last video and I instantly needed it!!! Great idea hate getting food from the bag on my hand. Thanks for sharing!
great gift ideas... my current favorites: handmade ridgeline organizer, wool buff and long bamboo spoon😸
So many good ideas!!
1. I know this is irrelevant to the video, but your skin looks soooo dewy and luminous! Tip/tricks?
2. What are the slippery socky things you’re wearing? All the warm feets 🙌
My older brother is a very experienced backpacker and climber and has never owned a pillow. Because of your videos I bought him the fillo elite pillow for Christmas and I can't wait to give it to him!
Ohhhh love that pump!
I’m so glad Happy Yak is part of your favorite meals! They’re made here in Quebec, Canada and they’re the best! So tasteful!
Non-Gear... I ask for my birthday every year, but you could gift it annually: Annual National Parks pass.
Just spent three weeks in Nepal solo with a Garmin (Sapphire Fenix) and I can't speak highly enough about just how amazing it is to have a map on your wrist with preloaded GPS tracks saved to it. Game changing for navigation. I literally helped out a friend's Nepali guide with pathfinding a couple of times!
The flex tail is amazing the $20 one is just as good as the X2 and more light weight and lasted longer too. The X2 stopped working the other day while the tiny pump x still works.
Was watching a different Miranda goes Outside video when I got the notification for this video!!
I am Such a fan of the Pstyle. It literally took me decades to try one and now I am so sold. Paired with the Kula Cloth, it's so much faster and less faff. Plus it works great in those reallllly bad gas station bathrooms or portapotties.
Great list! Every recommendation is spot on. I either have these items or would love to get them as a gift.
Great list! You should totally come out with your own Holiday music CD, Miranda! It will be the new holiday music staple everywhere!
My brother also lives in South Bend, IN so the comment about it being near Minnesota literally made me laugh out loud. 😂 Great video!!
I am just so glad you tried a PStyle haha. So many of my friends swear by them.
I loveeee it! What a game changer for outdoor adventures!
Yup. I want all of these.
Silicone spoon!!! That thing cleans peanut butter containers like nothing else, too.
Torrid Apex jacket, Torrid pants. Custom color combo. 😎
I was just racking my brain about the toe covers! I work outside and get cold feet easily. I'm gonna have to try them out. Happy Holidays!
Hi Miranda , I just got my Kula cloth gosh darn ! A gift from me to me ! Happy Holidays to you and the Crew!
Great ideas! I already subscribe to Trails magazine. Agree it is awesome! Thanks for this video!!
13:26 I have tried the mini-Swiss army knife with the fingernail scissors, they are able to be tightened (because they do come loose periodically), but even when fully dialed in, these scissors are not great when trying to cut luko tape, moleskin, lightweight para cord, or dyneema string. Plus they’re so small… For just a couple more grams you can get a letterman Style CS it has some not useless (but not great) tweezers, a tiny knife, and a fingernail file along with some very sharp and handy scissors that can really cut anything you could want to cut while on the trail. I use my Leatherman Style practically everyday even when not on the trail.
I already purchased the KULA! Came a day ago! I love it and I got a free KULA leash with it and a sticker! Loved the note from you two. I did not know about Trails. I will have to subscribe. Thank you!
Like it, Love it, want more. Long time fan...
The vescia bottle is awesome. Works better than a smart water bottle in the gravity system.
Miranda, your lookin mighty cute in that yellow hat! Nice
My wife loves Kula cloths, and I got her yours, she absolutely loves it! 😊
My wife’s MOST favorite gift is the SheFly hiking pants. Wayyyyy better than carrying a Vunnel.
OOOOOh your Kula cloth is amazing! I'd get it if I didn't already have two;). Also, I love short gaiters and waterproof (non isolated, just waterproof) mittens, my husband got me both as a gift and they are amazing.
Just ordered a kula (amongst some other things), can’t wait to actually get to try it!
But have tried the Nemo pillow since you recommended it and I disliked it so much😬 it was too thin for me to be comfortable on it and it started leaking the first trip i was using it on. I woke up several times during the nights because all the air had leaked out. However, I agree that a pillow is a must on a several day hike😊
Great vid M
Everyone blow this video up so I can afford that Rolex 😂
Okay but seriously though that Flextail pump is amazing. Highly recommend!
Omega makes better watches at more affordable prices….just saying….:)
Ok but the Pepsi shown is apparently discontinued so you'll have to get from grey market dealer. So you need this to massively blow up. But if you go with a different one get on an ADs list now because the wait is long. Might have a better chance with an Explorer II.
Alternatively, I hear good things about the Garmin Instinct. Apparently it's great for back packing.
just back from an impromptu hang... the best item i took with me were some down socks- toes stayed toasty in the hammock! would be an excellent gift
Love how you consider first aid a fun printed design. ;)
I agree on the Garmin electronics. I have both of them, well my Instinct isn't solar, and love using them. Well not the SOS on the Inreach. Haven't had to use that yet. Need to find some wood to knock on.
{Me buying myself the air pump} That pre-credit dance is EVERYTHING. Happy Holidays to you and the crew!
Interesting she didn’t mention the new version. Flextailger pump zero.
A pretty good list if you ask me! I'm a sucker for pouches, not just for backpacking and camping but also for everyday carry... I'd love to get those as a gift. Unfortunately/fortunately for me we're not giving gifts this Christmas so maybe I'll put them on a birthday wishlist :) Also I'm in Europe so shipping from garage grown gear is not as straightforward, good to have some more time 😅
This video is perfect timing! I am struggling to think of gifts for my husband and the holidays are sooooo close 😬
Oooo this video is MADE for you!! I hope you find something!!
I live in FL & for most of the year I can use just a sleeping bag liner. ;)
The flextail tiny pump 2 can also be used to deflate bags.
During my next trip to the sun I will try a new method of packing which is to remove the air in my packing bags and I will use my flextrail tiny pump to do so.
I bought the toe sleeves for myself earlier this year. I haven't had to wear them - yet. I will be camping with our Scout Troop in January and will look forward to breaking them in.
Excellent list - on the stocking stuffer, trade in your knife for the one with nail clippers and it would be perfect 🙂
Maybe. I use the scissors for clippers on trail.
Got the official Miranda Kula, gosh darn
Say Hey Willie! get that ball!
On my Christmas list this year: a new and better thermos, some stasher bags, a Nocs provision zoom tube and a Parks Ontario passport! I got a new snowshoe/poles and carry bag kit for my husband so he can join me on my adventures.
Great video! Looks like the headlamp link is missing from the description.
South Bend is not near MN. Although, currently the weather is very much the same. Yes, I live in South Bend.
To be fair MN is a stones throw away from northern IN, if you can throw a stone 500 miles.
😆
Great list, and video! I highly recommend Wazoo gear for your bandanas!! Dustin and Nick teamed up with Dr Nicole Apelian to make a bandanna…it highlights the 12 most common wild edible/medicinals and fungi in North America. It’s a FANTASTIC piece of gear, from an AWESOME company!! Their Viking Spark necklace is also a great piece of stylish gear…knife sharpener AND a ferro rod in one handy piece. 😊 Merry Christmas!!
seen the air pumps on Facebook, got my doughts
As an Indiana resident I agree with Miranda... it IS basically Cold Place, Minnesota here.
wow very nice content friend
I put a Nemo stargazer chair on my list for when I'm at the crag climbing
flextail has a new, even tinier pump now, the zero.
Essential Spoon Long would be a great band name.
I love these gift suggestion videos 😍mostly to buy myself gifts haha
Can the FlexTail Tiny Pump 2 inflate the NEMO Fillo Elite Pillow?
Love your hair Miranda.
I haven’t quite mastered my flex tail tiny pump yet (pulling it out without deflating in the process) but I love the concept and that it’s a tiny light 💡too
How were you blowing it up before without it deflating when you stopped blowing? Pretty much ever pad I've seen either has a one way valve or an external twist lock. One way valve ones shouldn't deflate when you remove the pump (make sure you're engaging the one way valve, some have that nested inflate plug within a deflate plug design and others have a switch between deflate and inflate). If it's an external twist lock, then don't pull the pump. Just leave it on the whole time while locking it.
I think there should be a MGO bandanna. Maybe it could coordinate with the Kula!
Nice air pump.
Obsessed with the chocolate caramel lmnt ♥️ I drink it on my 12 hour shifts 🤘🏻
Try a Coros watch!!!🎉
My sister got me an REI cooler, some paracord and an atlas for North America. So, road trips are soon coming up for the family.
The Nemo Fillo is so comfortable that it has a permanent spot on my bed at home.
Love your kontentan nise tipps
Does the cnoc have the same size lid? I use a hardside hydration kit for smart bottles
What are those socks you’re wearing ?! They look SO cozy !
Are they the Bomba as slippers? I've been so tempted to get these! Are they worth it...?!
Great ideas....just gonna throw out a warning: I loved my BearVault 425 for almost a year until it was stolen by hogs. Never found it despite looking for 2days. My friend's that was just one size larger was only pushed around. If i'm not bringing the big can I will bag it. Stay safe :)
Pretty sure no one has ever given me a present that cost as much as a Garmin Instinct. Cleary I need some rich people around me. As long as they're not the type to tell me what I don't need to take on a trial.
Do you have a video about the garmin inreach, or just satellite phones/gps systems in general with their subscriptions? I’d love to learn about them from you!
ive watched a lot of outdoorsy gift guides this month. this is the best one. by far
Yes your right. I missed the part in the beginning when the channel flashed the paid promotion part on the screen. Sorry. Have a great day.
I’m pretty sure Enlightened Equipment is actually based out of Cold Place, Minnesota 🥶
Just curious why you choose the cnioc shaped water bottle and sawyer filter over simular Katarina befree?
There is a video she did a few months back all about why she switched to the Sawyer water filter 😊 ruclips.net/video/IY04s2RjFQo/видео.htmlsi=P2VTeZ5R8xlNqdvZ
I found that iPhone 14 or higher with their satellite function is good enough for most North American hikers.
@mirandagoesoutside have you tried mixing all the LMNT flavors to see what it tastes like? I use to go to 711 and mix all the sodas in one cup :)
Anyone know the type of sweater/top she is wearing??? Looks really rad!!!
Hey. What socks are you wearing? They look ideal house wear.
Now I have a list to give to everyone that asks 🥰🤩
My husband asked me if there was anything else i wanted for Christmas. I sent him the link for the "This is my Kula gosh darn!". He doesn't understand why I'm so excited about a pee cloth. Haha!
