I have a Renegade as a rental right now as a result of my Wrangler being totaled. I'm really impressed with the build quality and comfort of this little crossover! It could use a little more power and get better fuel economy, but I would recommend the Renegade to anybody looking for a crossover SUV.
True it is amazing for what it is in its class of vehicle. It is not an amazing off-road vehicle but neither is a stock wrangler so keep the shiny side up, all 4 on the floor!
Thanks for the video and for taking one on a trail like this. It neatly illustrates, however, that the Renegade needs less weight, more low rpm power or more gearing in a bad way. Also, Mopar needs to offer taller coils for these so people can get a lift thats not just spacer pucks. with 2 inches, and another 20 hp in the 1500-2500 rpm range these things would be pretty potent.
as far as low rpm- the European market offers the Renegade as EcoDiesel model to provide the low end power you speak of. The sad part is, the European models have a host of other features that the U.S. spec model does not get due to cost restraints for this market and class of vehicle
@@TheKagedd In europe only the trailhawk is 4x4, that' unfortunate aswell, would have been nice if they offered both 4x4 or 4x2 on all models as an option. But, and I'm pretty sure of this, over time when this model matures, we'll probably see that happening. It's such a new model they really are looking for a base-audience to sell these to. Looking today at how well these go out, they'll probably get more and more crazy with this Renegade. Imagin this fe with a flatbed behind it, or a lightweight full out offroad-version. Jeep can go all the way with this model and for now, they're bringing a young and new enthousiastgroup to the brand! It even fits in well with the fiatgroup, which also done crazy thing with their abarth-versions..why not a whack Ren Mopar-version
Gotta upload more if this rig, i love how at home this thing looks when its competing against subarus and rav 4's. Maybe when that daystar lift is finished! cheers
I find myself wondering with the traction system if it will allow for "left foot breaking" which with my wrangler will improve torque, momentum and control.
Renegades are very capable vehicles as I have been in one, Trailhawk to at that. But one of my biggest fears about the renegade is when it comes to the tilt. While crossing over uneven surfaces. I feel like the renegade will simply flip over something stupid and simple because it barely has any flex. And I feel like the tires do not cascade over the ground to create a lower center of gravity if you know what I mean. These are probably not the correct physical terms, but if you try driving this jeep over uneven stuff, you will be scared shitless and know what I mean.
These trucks are balanced pretty well, my Cherokee TH is on 3 wheels everytime we go out and it always feels stable on the inside. Looks scary as shit from the outside though.
haha balanced till it tips over! haha then again i guess that all comes with off roading... you gotta have skills, like you cant just hop over a mud rut or boulder if your not prepared lol
I guess you could also just mute your TV when a show comes in that you don't like.... But I prefer to just change the channel to something more watchable. You seem to be some kind of genius...
Agreed. That is why my wife and I decided to sell the renegade and now own a JL Rubicon. This was my first jeep and first time going offroad. It is fun to look back at it now. It can handle a lot more than people give it credit for though.
No the slowest should go first. If not they risk rushing obstacles trying to keep up with the pack and when they rush they will damage of get hurt. Best for everyone to just chill out and have a good time.
it's so nice to see this jeep being used as a jeep. so many posers buy trailhawks and rubicons and they NEVER leave the pavement!!!!
I'm about to hit that trail this weekend. That section looks harder at this moment, hopefully I can make it through!

You had a wrangler and you are bitching about the gas milage of the renegade?

Nice TH, I'm installing the daystar lift on mine this weekend.
Pepsiaddicto how was the lift install ?
Any problems with the 2015? That a new buyer should be aware of?

Patrick Rich the base Sport with the turbo would do better.

It's more capable than a Rav 4, a Forester might be a good competitor. With a little lift and some nice tires it really is in a category of its own.
I find myself wondering with the traction system if it will allow for "left foot breaking" which with my wrangler will improve torque, momentum and control.
Give it about a 3 inch lift and some decent tires it would probably do alright on the trail
There's a 2'' lift available and they look good with lift and large tires
Thanks for posting!
There is a 1.5 and a 2 inch lift kit, Mopar parts, wich would help a lot. I very like the little Renegade. Its not a Wrangler but it is a great car.

The tip is how it imitates flex. You’re not wrong.
Very cool! What size Goodrich tires on your TH?
Thanks
+Cassandra Ward 225/65-17r I believe, thanks for watching
Do you still drive it now ?
Is your Renegade stock, or do you have a Daystar 1.5" lift?
+Justin Thompson It is stock with BF Goodrich Ko2's. It is getting the Daystar lift soon!
Great little vehicle.. But too timid of a driver.. Momentum is your friend offroad..
wonder if my stock 07 crd wk can handle this??
I'm surprised they didn't use the crawl gearing and allow the renegade to control the speed. (Or is that Cherokee trail hawk only?)
Its not a trail hawk in the video
It is a trailhawk 100 percent.
what tires and is there a lift?
estou chocado os caras postando vídeos de obstáculos que o meu antigo voyage 1.0 flex 2014 fazia em quase toda viagem aqui no para, viagem normal .
Any chance you could send me a dm of these trail locations ? I’m down in rfg all the time just don’t know the off roading trails .
I dont know them. But if you search for ohio river four wheelers on Facebook. They might be able to help you.
Amazing! Hello form Italy, where your TH was born ;-)
+marcello pallante Thanks for watching!
+marcello pallante Italians do it better.
Yes we do!
Attempted to watch the whole video but after 20 secs of extremely annoying music changed my mind lol
frank smith Hey I agree! Should of never used that song.
Lol that's the way it goes, live and learn.
...you could have mute the sound and everthing would be fine!
I guess you could also just mute your TV when a show comes in that you don't like.... But I prefer to just change the channel to something more watchable. You seem to be some kind of genius...
It really didn't look that capable to me, looks an easy trail really and it required help to get up there.
What king of tyre used? Thank you!
BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 Radial Tire
I don’t understand why a spotter was needed during most of that video. I’m guessing the driver is new to off-roading.
Yes at the time this video was made . The driver had only one other trail ride under his belt.
Without extensive modification, it looks to me that the Renegade ought to stick to overland trails, not technical stuff like this.
Agreed. That is why my wife and I decided to sell the renegade and now own a JL Rubicon. This was my first jeep and first time going offroad. It is fun to look back at it now. It can handle a lot more than people give it credit for though.
4:00 very bad spotting. And bad throttle control. Hope got better over time :/
Couldn't watch this. The music ran me off.
this Jeep needs more ground clearance
Agree. At the time of this video. I dont think the 2" lift kit was out yet. But the owner now has a JL Rubicon.
Perhaps I have misjudged the Renegade.....
jeep shud have put a set of bigger tyres..made it look butch rather than look like Fiat's pandas big bro
não acho que serve para trilha muito delicado e um suv bonito mas pra trilha tem que ser mais agressivo
si
I feel sorry for all the real 4x4s behind this thing....
Definitely, the slowest vehicle/driver should go last

Shoulda bought a 4 runner
4runners are expensive though.
they can be you dont have to buy new tho buying used is more lucrative i bought s gentle used oned
They are driving so slow, it would be quicker just to walk, and not even bother with a car.
That music annoys the fuck out of me. Impossible to watch!
Worst spotters ever
