OMG i knew you could refill soda stream but didnt knew there was an adapter to connect a 5 lbs tank directly to it. This is a game changer, i don't have to do the refilling, no super huge tank to store. And with only one tank that can live under the counter! I would just use normal soda stream tank when the 5 lbs one is empty until I get it filled up again. I know it's not the conclusion your video was meant to convey but it's awsome.
@@sodascott I went to the Amazon store and took a look at the adaptor that allows you to connect the 5lb tank directly to the soda stream machine and it said it was not compatible with the blue cylinders: "It is not compatible with the 'Blue CO2 cylinder (Screw In) connect system', which includes Fizzi One Touch, JET, Aqua Fizz, Genesis, Source etc." But in your video, you show a blue soda stream cylinder. I'm confused. please advise.
2:00 a good reason to go for the smaller tank, even emptying it in a single garage sized room is safe. 2:30 you can get siphen tube in the smaller one also, they use the exact same valve. It is litteraly just a (often) plastic tube that threads into the valve
This video, and your previous one on refilling the cartridge are very useful. As a home brewer I have a setup you might consider mentioning. I have a 4-tap home bar (keezer) for dispensing beer. However, one of the taps is always connected to a 5-gallon keg of water, so I have 40ºF carbonated water on tap. It allowed us to clear off the counter space taken by our former SodaStream unit. All four taps are fed off the same 5lb CO2 bottle, which sits inside the keezer and out of the way. One bottle lasts for 6-8 months before I need to take it in to refill it.
I spend around $50 for my 20 pound tank.i went that route because it last for months.yes get rid of the soda stream canister I don't last long at all and it's $17 refill.when i first started i purchased a used 20 pound tank off Facebook market place for $25 and swapped it out for a refill.20 pound new tanks are expensive and hard to find
No, you can connect directly without a regulator - the SodaStream will handle the pressure similar to how it handles the pressure from the normal cylinders
What am I doing wrong? I bought a 20lb tank without the tubes so I'm turning upside down to get the fluid. The bottle will fill to a weight of 1050, but when go to use there are hardly any bubbles in liquid????

Thanks! Yeah, directly connecting is a great option for people with the space or don't mind the cord.

as someone who close to purchasing a setup with a larger tank this is valuable thank you for sharing your knowledge
So glad to hear that! Thanks for watching 🙌

Thanks for the tips! I’ll take a look for a 5-lb tank with a tube
You are an excellent teacher. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! 🐱
Thank you so much for watching! Appreciate it 🙌

Great setup you have going and thanks for the kind words! I hope to get to home bar setups someday 🫡

hold up. these look like options. which one should i "never buy"?
I got a 20 lb CO2 tank from my local Coca-Cola supplier. How can I tell if it has a siphon tube?
The only place that refills co2 near me are welding supplies shops ... is that ok to use? Is it good grade? Probably not?
Many will have beverage grade, that’s what you want
Do 10 lb. tanks usually have a siphon tube? I want to connect the tank directly to the soda stream. ________ 4:36
Not usually no, I’ve only seen on 20# tanks
Is a regulator needed when hooking directly up to a sodastream?
No, you can connect directly without a regulator - the SodaStream will handle the pressure similar to how it handles the pressure from the normal cylinders

It sounds like an issue with the machine, you definitely have co2 in your cylinder at that weight gram wise.
20Ib tank it is. Thank you🔥🔥
Is it possible to directly connect the 20 lb tank to the soda stream?
Yes, as long as it’s one without a siphon tube
Do you have a link for your 5# direct connection? There are a lot of options out there, many of which seem like junk.
I agree. Where did you get your direct connection? I am afraid of using the Chinese knock off on amazon for something I will drink.
Ahh, yes, I forgot to add that in description, added now. It's this one: amzn.to/3yoHFqG has worked well.
This is the one I've been using: amzn.to/3yoHFqG
Do you take your 20lb tank to bed?
🤣
When buying a CO2 meter, make sure it's a real one. There are a LOT of fake ones out there.
Good tip!!
