    He shorted you, a 5 pound co2 tank has 7.4 pounds of actual capacity. They are supposed to be filled to 68 percent full for safety from heat, 68 percent of 7.4 is 5.032 pounds. He filled those tank to only 40 percent. All certified tanks are rated to hold the listed amount of liquid co2 and have factored in the 68% safety margin. They are either ignorant or intentionally shorting every customer almost 30 percent per fill.

    Dont know where anyone is located but some gas vendors dont even charge for the tank. If you use their product theres no charge for tank rental or fees. Just take it back and switch. They may want a cc # on file but my vendor in the midwest (Delta Gasses) does not. They are a phenominal supplier.

      I just buy my own cylinder. I’d rather not have an ugly old half painted/rusted cylinder in the living room. 🙂 However, if your reef is in a location where the tank isn’t seen, it’s probably a good option.

    Just subbed im fixing to buy one trying to decise between a 20pound or 50 only reason im thinking 20 is because it would be lighter have you ever moved a 50 pound co2 tank?

      What size tank? 20 pound would be better. Then you can get two and switch them out.

    Howdy ! where did you buy the 10 gallon cylinder i am planning to get one , i am setting up a planted tank wanted to know the costs , where do you get it filled now in houston side ...how long does it last and how much does it cost to fill em up

    • @Reefahholic
      @Reefahholic  11 месяцев назад +1

      I just look online for mine. All cylinders aren’t created equally, so do your homework to see what you want. I like new aluminum LX6 6061-T6 brand Luxer Cylinders. Cost will vary. You can still fill at Carbonics, but I use a different place closer to my house now. It’s called Precision Blend INC. (PBI Gases). Cost is relatively cheap. Maybe like $20-$30 or so for my 20# cylinder’s. They fill them fuller than Carbonics.

    What's the machine that's pumping the co2 into the tanks called? I have a 450 LASER-CYL CO2 supply tank, and I'd like to fill 5lb tanks, but the laser-cyl doesn't have enough pressure. Thanks!

    Just purchased a #20 CO2 tank for $125 and filled for $27 in Costa Mesa, CA. Weighed the filled tank at home and only got 6lb CO2. (31lb - 25lb empty weight ). Not sure if this is normal in SoCal.

    Dude straight up lied to you !
    He could have filled that bottle to 5lb capacity if he would have chilled the bottle 1st! Either by putting it in a freezer for a few hours or by putting a little gas in the bottle then venting it fast to chill the bottle.

    • @Reefahholic
      @Reefahholic  4 года назад

      That’s a great question. I’d like to know too. I do know that if you go to a paintball place it’s not food grade. There’s Breweries and other Beverage Companies that fill with food grade gas because it’s used for human consumption.

    • @Shortstacksandticktacks
      @Shortstacksandticktacks 4 года назад

      The CO2 is almost identical, but the container it's stored in is different. Food grade has a glass liner, non food grade can be stored in lead containers allegedly.

    • @Reloadeez
      @Reloadeez 3 года назад +1

      Food grade co2 is required to have a 99.90% purity rating, Industrial is required to have a 99.50% purity rating. I usually get coleman/research grade which is required to have 99.999% purity rating.

      @@Reefahholic just buy how dirty it it is there. i could be wrong. If its not food grade it could have a chemical called benzene (very small amounts) will give you head aches right after drinking. the only difference is in production and handling. oils they use to keep seals from drying out and rust build up. in food grade its always all stainless steel parts. Brass pipes or fittings that can and do have lead in them. Also i could be wrong but i did not see any bottles with a Food Grade Label.
