- This DIY job has been on my list for a while... This piece of exterior trim is known to break as well as fade, like all black plastic trim parts. It's relatively inexpensive and easy to replace. Follow along and let me know what you think of the result!

She's looking good James.
Special forces are working 🌪️🌪️🌪️
Hey looking great and another good video. Looks like you're missing the windshield wiper caps. Add them on before your TOTD trip and enjoy improved fuel economy. 😂😂😂
Good call!!! I just ordered some... :-)
Since someone else was wanting you to get a non-existing CF cowl trim I thought I'd mention Rennline has a CF GT3 piece that goes in front of your shifter to replace the bins there.
Hahaha. Thank you!! Unfortunately / fortunately I no longer have the car... but my 991 CF fund is always looking for new ways to invest in more more more trim pieces. Any intel there is always welcomed.
Nice color
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video. Been thinking about this job for a couple of years as my 997.1 cowl is faded to a light grey colour and has lifted at the edges. Your new one looks very smart so I need to get on with it!
It made such a HUGE difference to how the car looked. So impressive for such a small investment.
Thank you…..I was just on my way to replacing that piece. You’re awesome.
Glad I could help! Check out the description below the video for the links to the parts.
How is it that this trim was not swapped out for carbon fiber? I don't even know who you are anymore?
Trust me, if it was available it would have been. 😂
I shudder at the thought of what the cowl costs. But it lifts the car. So much so that now the wiper arms are standing out. 😂 Should’ve lightly scuffed them and hit them with a fresh coat of black out of a rattle can. But that’s an easy fix.
Wish I was going to TOTD, too. Primarily to experience all the other roads in the area I always heard you talk about. Have fun and watch out for the clowns that can’t stay in their lane.
Ha! Not too bad, about $150.
@@AutoAmateur I still need to spend the $200 to replace 2 of the under trays I shattered going over a piece of wood someone kindly left in the middle of the highway.
I think I'll join you guys for totd this time. I'll be bringing my 4.0L 997 C4S
Epic!! Please do!!
I'm not really sure where the rear parking lot for Fontana village would be. I'm at the lodge.
Love this car, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching! Cheers!
First job I did on my 996. Mines black so it really showed that the cowl was faded and grey. Doesn’t take long and surprisingly cheap. It is a bit annoying that the two little covers aren’t supplied with a new cowl and have to be bought separately.
Right!! Thankfully they're also really inexpensive too.
Did you clean and lubricant the wiper arm mechanism before installing the new plastic cowl. Looks like it could have used some TLC.
Ps: love your videos by the way!
That’s a good looking 996! James have you thought about adding some yellow to the headlights? The 996.2 headlight shape looks good already. I’ve only seen people tinting the entire unit yellow… I wonder if anyone had thought of adding yellow tint in the inner small circular light only…(fog light?)
Thank you!! I go back and forth on yellow headlights. I guess it's worth a try!
Hi James, looks incredible, where to source those sideskirts and rims?
Thanks!! The side skirts were factory Porsche, but they were actually removed. The rims were from eBay, a dealer in LA.
Any idea if the 997 cowl is the same fitting?
The job is the same, but the shape of the part is slightly different. You can find the appropriate 997 part here from Suncoast: www.suncoastparts.com/product/9X7XWCP.html
