Too many criticize Peart’s perceived lack of swing and drive as if it’s some sort of offense. He was a humble guy, and despite his command in the rock genre, knew he had a lot to learn in other genres, such as jazz and big band swing. He took lessons from Peter Erskine, despite already being a world-famous drummer. All that matters is the he played what he wanted to, and didn’t need any purist’s approval to do so. He made a lot of people happy.
The one from the 90's is just as good if not better in my opinion. What an amazing talent. This is what it looks like when you love what you do and you get to do it your whole life.
There's a ton of video, songs, interviews and more out there. Stop sulking and start Celebrating and Dig In to the Treasures Neil Worked SO HARD FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was humbled, put out the Burning for Buddy projects, studied with Gruber, rose back up and returned to the Buddy Rich tribute concert and nailed it.
Neil is a great drummer agreed, but he doesn’t really swing as much as Buddy did. He uses jazz techniques in a blended rock fashion and other players who have used techniques like that are drummers such as Ginger Baker and Bill Bruford. Carl Palmer used the same kind of refined techniques too.
@@Augfordpdoggie Buddy was not Neil. And vice versa. Neil was definitely in a class all his own and to be honest so was Buddy. They’re two totally different drummers with two different styles.
Congratulations! You COMPLETELY missed the point. No kidding, one is not the other - did you figure that out by yourself, or did mommy help you. It’s a tribute - one great drummer paying homage to another. Nothing but respect for both, each in their own inimitable style.
This performance is incredibly subdued as far as his style and/or approach. There are earlier performances where Peart is tight as F while playing Buddy Rich and no one would know the difference if 'you' weren't watching and only listening.
@@bradcrosier1332 damn dude why are you so upset? The dude was just making a point, we all know Neil and Buddy had their own strengths and weaknesses. It’s a fact that Neil can’t pull off this style of drumming like some others can. Take a chill pill

The criticizers couldnt play anywhere near his ability in any genre ill wager.
Well put and true. Neil marked an epoch in drumming history and not many can say that. Cheers
Come cazzo si fa a criticare uno così ...era un grande altro che cazzi
Love that he switches from traditional to matched and back and forth. Absolute master
Joe Morello switched fingers never leaving traditional grip..legends of their time
Speaking as a non-drummer, there is so much to enjoy in this solo and, indeed in his playing in general. Such a musical drummer.
Neil Peart University Alumni (TM) send greetings to all. The professor on the drum kit will not be forgotten. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
Draw them numerous times can't say enough about incomparable Neil Peart ,amazing period!!
Rest in POWER Professor.
Bubba..the professor..legend..genius..1 of a kind..author..traditionalist..did it for the music..lived his own life..private guy..rip
Even without all the xtra drums he still has the magic touch ....and how to use it.❤
That snare sounds just amazing
This may be my favorite Neil Peart solo.

Danny Carey is pretty good at it too.
When Neil plays even the band turns to watch.
Miss that guy. What a talent, what a drummer....

R.I.P Professor
So amazing and so humble.
The GOAT.
My man !!! WOOO !!!
Sensational
Gênio!

Para mi era lo máximo
I think Neil and JB had a bet on catching the toss at the end.
Increíble
Una vez dijo el profesor Chester chestos. Neil Pearl es el mejor batera del mundo
Only criticism is his bass hi hat thing he always does in his solo. Should have had others than that . Also no double bass in a jazz setting. Lol
This is a less complex version of the Frankurt solo
No. It's a truncated version of De Slagwerker from the Snakes & Arrows tour.
that is a player
WOOF !

Buddy was only fast. He didnt compose or create the way neil did. Neil was only paying hommage to buddy. Buddy could never create what neil did
