The more badass Ash becomes, the dumber he gets. I discovered these movies in the 90s and saw them in reverse by renting Army of Darkness, loving it and then buying Evil Dead 2 and then 1 because I couldn't find them to rent anywhere. It was one of the few times I found something cool first and got to introduce my older brother to it. The only movie I rented more than AoD was Return of the Living Dead, which I highly recommend if you haven't seen it.
Return is the one with the naked zombie chick, right? I’ve seen that one, it was a riot 😂
The Evil Dead came about because the Raimi bros (Sam and Ted) were childhood friends with Bruce Campbell and love to torture him. Getting to douse Bruce in goo and abuse him on camera for money is like their childhood dreams brought to life.
The trilogy (ED, ED2, Army of Darkness) gets increasingly funny as they go along. Army of Darkness is a full on horror comedy (though one version is funnier than the others). The reboot Evil Dead is... less fun 😅
After Army of Darkness, check out Raimi's Darkman, with Liam Neeson and Francis McDormand. It's hilarious.

Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Bruce Campbell and Directorial debut of Sam Raimi.
Time Capsule Fact: At the end of principal shooting in Tennessee, the crew put together a little time capsule package and buried it inside the fireplace of the cabin as a memento of the production to whomever found it.
Make Your Own Blood Fact: The blood is a combination of Karo syrup, non-dairy creamer, and red food coloring. At one point, Bruce Campbell's shirt that he wears in the film was so saturated with the fake blood that after drying it by the fire, the shirt became solidified and broke when he tried to put it on.
Location Location Fact: Filmed in a real-life abandoned cabin. The property's owner granted the production crew to lease the cabin, under the condition that any modifications made for filming were to be undone. The crew kept their promise and the only thing that remained in the cabin was the fireplace that was specifically built for the film. The cabin has since been destroyed and only the fireplace is still intact.

This is cool I am glad to have watched along side of you guys. Cheap budget but it's a great movie
Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell collabs are match made in heaven. One enjoys tormenting and another enjoys being tormented... Evil Dead trilogy is proof of that and that Bruce has really good comedic timing in next films.
Oh cool. If you liked this one, "Evil Dead 2" is great, "Army of Darkness" is a full-blown comedy, and the TV series, "Ash vs Evil Dead," is far better than I ever expected it to be, but not so much if you have a weak stomach.😆
My stomach is weakish but I still enjoy it somehow 😆
This movie is just so much fun. Fede Álvarez completely lost that in the remake.
And it had a different model year than (in)famous Delta 88 from the original. Lee Cronin just completely missed that boat with Evil Dead Rise.
I enjoy fun horror the most, the serious stuff doesn’t always do it for me. I need at least a smidge of cheese 😆
I haven’t watched the original in quite a while, and forgot just how fun this movie is. The two of you make for a great collaboration, and looking forward to more in the future. You both will really enjoy ED 2.

When I saw this was a collab, I thought Rhetorical doesn't need to do a collab, she's entertaining enough. I will admit I was wrong, I enjoyed both of your reactions to this but now I expect you both react to the next evil dead movies, 2 and Army of darkness at the very least. Great fun 👍

I definitely need more Bruce Campbell in my life. It’s very weird, I remember watching Xena all the time but I don’t remember a thing about it.
@@RhetoricalThrill He is so wonderfully cheesy. He played "Autolycus" King or Prince of thieves in both shows the rogue with a heart of gold and a ego to match :)
His two starring role series of Brisco County Jr. and Jack of All Trades are great. One is a scifi cowboy adventure and the other a swashbuckling colonial sitcom.
Ash is a bumbling fool who is really just an accidental hero throughout the series. He eventually develops a completely unearned bravado that propels him through one disastrous situation after another. Much like Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China. They start to believe their own legend even when their reality doesn't actually back it up.

The true way to tell if you are in a haunted or otherwise evil infested cabin in the woods. Amateurs will look for scary books and hatches in the floor that open themselves, the truly knowledgeable will look at their cabin and ask, "does this one room cabin have two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, ,secret passages behind the walls, and enough doors leading from room to room that you can be chased in circles inside?" If the answer is yes, you may be in a horror movie, but check to see if you have the best real estate agent ever before panicking.
