It's amazing to me how many people can find so many negative things to comment, just sit back and enjoy the show. I remember being a kid and flipping the channels on the TV trying to find anything about cars to watch. Then when I was in middle school/high school, Hot Rod had a half hour show on Sunday afternoons. I'd have to bargain with my family to let me watch that instead of football. Let me say, I'm just happy to be here, no complaints from me! Keep up the good work, Mike, and keep having fun!
I truly can't believe my eyes. 97 people don't like this car?! What's wrong with you people??!!! I'm a Ford Guy, and this Camaro is one bad ass and well built machine. Great job on this build Man! It's bitching!!
No its because he ripped off Mary Pozzi's '73 Camaro. Down to the color and carbon fiber and acted like he built a unique pro touring car. The Drive actually did a video on it and she explains in detail about how she developed the suspension with Hotchkis. This guy copied it and called it unique. For some reason they took it down from RUclips and its taken off their website. Look up Mary Pozzi Camaro. She did it first and for some reason they made her disappear with no credit. It was also an incredible story.
@@stronglikebull2994 100% agree about ripping off Mary's '73 Camaro which to me is much nicer and sounds so much better when driven hard. She actually raced hers in autocross and won quite few championships with it. Probably why the video with her Camaro has been removed is because Mike is now doing videos for this channel and can't have him on competing channels reviewing cars.
Man, once again your show takes me back to my teenage years. I had a 70 1/2, Z/28 that was such a rush to drive. It was set up for street light to street light. I remember the day I bought it, I stopped by the gas station where I worked. I was 17 and my boss was about 35. He was married with 3 kids. Most of his hot rod days were behind him. I told him to take it for a ride. He was gone for about an hour and when he returned I don't think I'd ever seen him smiling so much. I was glad that I could bring back that feeling that we all had with our first hot rod. That was an awesome day! I'm now 59 years young, and I can still see his smiling face! Thanks again Big Muscle!
This car is so badass, and Nick is such a great guy. I got the opportunity to ride in this car at LS fest, and I have a video on my channel about it. This car is incredible. I hope my project car is half as good as this thing when it's done lol.
70 Camaro RS/Z28 It didn't have the front clip so no way to be sure if it came that way originally but yes, Rally Sport. A great styling option for sure, looks very good.
Narmacil427 Oh I understand that, I never agreed to it being original by VIN number, I was just saying it had a Rally Sport fit front end. From how clean it looks, I’m assuming either it’s a kit or it’s true, considering you can’t tell A: if it’s a Z28 or not. Or B: it’s a flat Rally Sport since it’s missing the tags.
12:50 No doubt it is a superior track car, but it's hard to believe Musto's assertion about its comfort on the street when every single interior shot of him driving looks like he's in a drink shaker. I believe what I see....that's what I saw. Awesome car though.
Mike you might want to clarify a normal California street. In Indiana you couldn't drive that car more than 10 feet or over 10 mph without shaking your titties off :)
Even in 2022, when the go juice is too expensive, rubber is hard to get, parts are made in China or stuck on a ship, etc. There will always be something special about hand building your own car over buying one at a dealership. Anyone can buy a car, not everyone can build one. That is what separates the car enthusiast from the every day drivers out there. Beautifully done 70 SS in this video, really enjoyed that one. Thanks Motor Trend, keep'em coming!!!
What a great freakin build this man has built well thought out beautifully executed. Nick Relampagos you are a master craftsman, having a game plan and the research, nicely done. It is so smart to purchase of all the right parts, once is genius. Buy once, cry once now that's a mantra to live by. I absolutely love the integration of the carbon fiber pieces both raw and painted. The drivetrain sounds insane, I know it's a race/street car I would definitely have to have a softer suspension set up my back and kidneys would be screaming. Well done Mike Musto and House of Muscle
I’ve watch this episode three times. Once on motor trend twice on RUclips. One you’re a classy dude. You’ve got the best job in the world. And at the very end when you talked about that turkey I laughed for about 20 minutes! Your friend and fan Tim
AWESOME CAR... Reminds me of my first car a 1980 camaro 305ci in okay shape all blue with flakes paint. Off course they are way too different cars but I was 18yrs old at the time and I was forced to sell the car by my father, jealous guy. lol... I always loved the looks of the open grille two piece bumper. I hope to build one some day, like you have but more for personal use daily driving. I am 27 now, a husband a father of one and just started on a 92 GMC Sierra single cab hoping to make 600whp work truck...
SteamRoller tires!!!! omg I have not heard that term for decades! Love it. I'm not a chevy guy but DAM how can you not like the work and detail in this car?
I've never been that big of a fan of the 2nd gen Camaro, but HOLY EFFIN SHNIZZLE PIZZLES... THIS one is VERY well and tastefully done! I really like how the tubs were upholstered. Major props to the owner on a job well done!
Nice episode! Can't say I'm a fan of the Camaros in general but this build actually makes it look good. I mean, everything has been thought of, all details are there and that makes the car look likes it's supposed to look (and sound, nice rumble). Awesome job!
I've wanted to do up a 70 for a long time, injected 427 full roller, 6 speed, red with black stripes, proper suspension and brakes just shy of autocross requirements, more of a daily driver. thanks for the trip.
true ppl do always say yes i will bueld that car next yesr and thy dont get the chance well im starting on my now this year in memory of my brother Love you bro R.I.P Rafael Leyva
NZ Salt Flats Racer I know right? needless to say it's incredible. I'd be impressed if he did all his own work, but it's a start, least the car is badass.
What a beautifully executed and well thought out car, every component and design cue just fits even the slightly recessed front grille... subtle and a testament to one man’s vision! I would not change anything other than a little bit more of a softer ride, at my age I would need a kidney belt judging by how Mike Musto is bouncing around in the interior shots.....but it is a race/street car so you gotta compromise a little comfort for performance. Well done!
If Chevrolet had used this body style and kept it to scale they'd be heads up with Mustang sales now. It is a much better style than the box they ended up with. Nice car.
We have a second gen Camaro it's a 76 and it is just gorgeous. Look for the car for close to 6 months. Found it and bought it on the spot 305 with a 4-speed dual exhaust black-on-black the car is amazing it's looks all over the place
Such an awesome car! If only I could have found out about it one month earlier. Motor Trend should take notice! I'd be willing to pay my hard earned money to view videos just like this before they are posted to RUclips if such a service existed.
I've still got my first car. it's a 1970 Plymouth Duster 340 that has been waiting for a resto since I was in my mid 20s. I'd love to make it a track car for autocross. Nice build!
ive never been a big fan of ford or chevy muscle cars, but i do like the 70's camaros and 80's mustangs, i feel those are the only two body styles that really changed how the car looked, i guess i just get bored with most other versions but im glad he chose this body style over the other ones, as everyone and their mom has a 60's camaro, and before you ask yes, i am a mopar guy
It appears to be a very well sorted package. Very impressive for the home builder, impressive for the professional builder. Plan a project and work through it. Bravo!
When people want to know if your car is fast, its easy to quote a horsepower number. That's great for a straightline--tho power to weight is even better, as the Chevelle pointed out. But if you want to run in circles looking for the finish line, then cornering is where its at--you keep the average speed high. But people can't translate brakes and A-arm designs into a speed number. I like this video because it also pointed out the difference between a stiff Pro Touring suspension, and a resto-mod suspension. The latter is nicer for a daily driver that you may want to drive con brio. The stiff Pro Touring is great for a racetrack car you may drive to the race track.
As a mustang driver, com on Mike. I would not say you should have a mullet because you like mopar, why you gotta bring up the mustang into the woods scenario. Seriously though love your videos man. Great dude, love the east coast flavor you bring to muscle cars.
I haven't watched this video yet (still at work) but wanted to comment: Thank the V8 muscle Gods Mike Musto has a new video on RUclips, and it's a healthy 15 minutes plus. Can't wait to get home to watch it fully.
I'm glad he's not one of the rich car show guys that show up with the super expensive car they bought and know nothing about, that never drives over 25 mph, will never mod it, and they think their shit don't stink cause their is expensive.
¡Chingado, Lightning! that's a heck of a job you did there! too bad they picked a crap road, more waves than the Pacific. you got a license plate light out there...
So the difference between a resto-mod and a pro-touring car is whether it has an LS or not? Someone call R.J. Gottlieb and tell him he's doing it wrong... quick!
Should we see what the commenters drive? What's sitting in the driveway? Weekend warrior maybe? Track focused monster? Trusty daily? Or Low riding street sweeper? Question is what's sitting in the driveway or in the garage? What do *you* drive? I've got a 01' BMW 330i with light suspension mods (daily) 93' Toyota hilux with a 1jz swap (project/not road legal) a 98' Holden commodore VT (skid pig) and a 93' Nissan c33 laurel sitting in pieces in the garage.
Thanks bro. I've been wanting another ute like a Datsun some time in the future also but I have too much going on my budget doesn't allow it lol. Need to get rid of something first, but I'm not to keen on the idea just yet haha. What I *really* want next is either a BMW 325i touring or a Nissan stagea.
Eratiik got 2 mustangs 😂 a 2010 mustang gt and a 1997 mustang gt. in the process of building both to what i want. granps had a datsun 240 i wanna get that and go the route of sung kang.
Eratiik just want the 10 to be a beautiful realiable car, so gonna go wheels and tires, gt500 rear spoiler and boss 302 rear fascia. performance mods would be gt500 throttle body, off road mid pipe, hotter coil packs and a tune. the 97 gonna go with a saleen rear spoiler, chin spoiler and then go the route of putting fully forged internals, trick flow heads and upper intake, possibly long tube headers but if i do that gonna need to make some modifications the hood so i can get some heat extraction as well as wrapp the headers with header wrapp. also gonna get it punched out to 5 liters. the 240 im torn on because i want a gtr so its either build the 240 or get a r32-r34 skyline.
I drive a couple of Mustangs but I love 2nd gen Camaros, as well as 68-72 Chevy A body cars. Hell, I love all American muscle cars, period, no matter the manufacturer.
I'd love to be able to autocross or race around a track in my 1982 Chevrolet El Camino one day, while having it be a comfortable daily driver at the same time, this Camaro is somewhat what I'd like it to be. ^^
Sounds like the only thing it's missing is the 2 stage flat coil springs...that give a better ride on the street, but bottom out and give great handling on the track. I couldn't see if the shocks were adjustable? QA-1's would have been my choice (great range of valving). Have to wait until GM's magnetic ride shocks hit the aftermarket.
Built or bought, I understand the awesomeness and the uniqueness in building your own car, but a new ZL1 you can finance & you're good to go. Not everyone has the knowledge to build a car from scratch.
I remember the "blue ballz" Camaro you showcased a while back. You implied it could beat the average Ferrari.. what's funny is literally a day after that video was released on RUclips "blue ballz" was beat at an auto cross in California by a 130hp b16 Civic eg. Hahahahah
1CoLoRz2 The video should still be on the Drive channel on RUclips if you'd like to check it out. The autocross was definitely set up for large, heavy American cars and the civic was able to squeeze through cones on what should have been chicanes. The reason I find it funny though is because everyone was getting beat by my friend on his civic so they called in the "blue ballz" Camaro as a ringer and his time was beat as well. That autocross was an actual sanctioned event but still driven by a bunch of yuppies trying to play race car driver on the weekends. They were all very upset to be beaten so badly by a stock civic with full interior and working AC.
Rusty Shackleford It's clear you've never been in or even stood near classic muscle cars. They're not big, and they're lighter than your average modern car.
Bear Creek Road near Orinda, CA (the road where a lot of this was shot, and where you mention ride quality) is rough in anything, let alone a car set up for track use. It would be an amazing road if it was in good shape. As is, not so much.
To the person that did the video for this episode, good job. To the audio engineer, bad job. Try to make it so we can actually hear Mike next time when he's driving the car. All I heard was bass from the engine half the time.
It's amazing to me how many people can find so many negative things to comment, just sit back and enjoy the show. I remember being a kid and flipping the channels on the TV trying to find anything about cars to watch. Most likely jealous haters. It seems to be a popular trend to hate on someone that has something they want or someone doing something they want to do.
Probably kids that have been brainwashed that anything American is bad, all little pussies that think GTR's are the bestest ever
Could be the whole carbon fiber thing.
No its because he ripped off Mary Pozzi's '73 Camaro. Down to the color and carbon fiber and acted like he built a unique pro touring car. The owner seems like a real nice guy who built ( and had the funds through hard work) to build a real nice car.
Good on him.

build an old car over any new car. You get noticed in an old car. IMO.
they quit making cars in '72.
I think they made a very cool car in 1987. The GN
The only bad thing is it gets you noticed by the cops too if you like to drive fast.
ZL70 or ZL1? It's a golden age, when you can buy OR build such great cars.
You are so correct with that statement.
This car is so badass, and Nick is such a great guy. I got the opportunity to ride in this car at LS fest, and I have a video on my channel about it. This car is incredible. I hope my project car is half as good as this thing when it's done lol.

Roman Meissner whoopdee do anotherworthless ls build
That '70 camaro is damn sexy 😍💦💦
It’s a Rally Sport!
70 Camaro RS/Z28 It didn't have the front clip so no way to be sure if it came that way originally but yes, Rally Sport. A great styling option for sure, looks very good.
Narmacil427 the front clip is referring to the whole vehicle from the firewall forwards.
70 Camaro RS/Z28 Obviously, what's your point? I'm saying that even if it looks like it has the Z22 option today, it doesn't mean it's an original.
Narmacil427 Oh I understand that, I never agreed to it being original by VIN number, I was just saying it had a Rally Sport fit front end. To be fair, the road we were on was quite rutted. On a normal street or on the highway the car rides beautifully.
Where is that road? It looks like Central Coast California.
Mike you might want to clarify a normal California street. In Indiana you couldn't drive that car more than 10 feet or over 10 mph without shaking your titties off :)

That's one of my favorite muscle cars ,hard to improve on the looks, but he was able .great job, excellent choice of powertrain.
315s IN THE FRONT WITH ON-ROAD FULL U-TURN CAPABILITY. FUCK YES. IT CAN BE DONE.
Thank you Nick for showing us that this is completely possible.
Whats even more amazing that this beautiful car is the fact this man built it from a shell...Kudos to you sir. Awesome machine.
I always enjoy watching Mike. He truly has passion for muscle cars

Nice episode!
Can't say I'm a fan of the Camaros in general but this build actually makes it look good.
I mean, everything has been thought of, all details are there and that makes the car look likes it's supposed to look (and sound, nice rumble). Awesome job!
wheel set up for me is the most impressive part, amazing car and build!
I've wanted to do up a 70 for a long time, injected 427 full roller, 6 speed, red with black stripes, proper suspension and brakes just shy of autocross requirements, more of a daily driver. thanks for the trip.
Please bring back Big Muscle! It was the best automotive show on RUclips.
true ppl do always say yes i will bueld that car next yesr and thy dont get the chance well im starting on my now this year in memory of my brother Love you bro
R.I.P Rafael Leyva
Built not bought, awesome story, amazing Camaro, a truly great video, thank you.
That's a good looking checkbook!
NZ Salt Flats Racer I know right? needless to say it's incredible. I'd be impressed if he did all his own work, but it's a start, least the car is badass.
It's got all the stuff to run on a real race track!
Watching House of Muscle casually, as the card says, "Want more Roadkill?"
This car is bad ass I have always loved these pro touring builds
What a beautifully executed and well thought out car, every component and design cue just fits even the slightly recessed front grille... subtle and a testament to one man’s vision! I would not change anything other than a little bit more of a softer ride, at my age I would need a kidney belt judging by how Mike Musto is bouncing around in the interior shots.....but it is a race/street car so you gotta compromise a little comfort for performance. Well done!
Wow. First the Mary P. Camaro, now this one. These cars have such beautiful lines. Congrats sir!
If Chevrolet had used this body style and kept it to scale they'd be heads up with Mustang sales now. It is a much better style than the box they ended up with. Nice car.
That drone through.... I can hear the owners wife/girlfriend complaining from here.
zl 70 is the right name, right down to the hood shaped like 14 zl1 cool car.
This car is sick AF
A '70 Camaro is just beautiful. Nicely done. Great hanging with you at the ZL1-1LE launch at Area 27 track in BC, Canada, Mike!
Same here Randy! Great time and awesome watching you wheel that thing around!
Nice build!
So this is where Mike went! Been missing the old muscle videos from Drive. Time to catch up on 7 episodes!
ive never been a big fan of ford or chevy muscle cars, but i do like the 70's camaros and 80's mustangs, i feel those are the only two body styles that really changed how the car looked, i guess i just get bored with most other versions but im glad he chose this body style over the other ones, as everyone and their mom has a 60's camaro, and before you ask yes, i am a mopar guy
Beautiful 70 Camaro man and Chad Haire would be so jealous of this beautiful hot rod.
It appears to be a very well sorted package. Very impressive for the home builder, impressive for the professional builder.
Plan a project and work through it. Bravo!
I never thought he'd create this and for this guy to have his car showcased on MTC
When people want to know if your car is fast, its easy to quote a horsepower number. That's great for a straightline--tho power to weight is even better, as the Chevelle pointed out. This a real motivation for someone like me to build a car this extraordinary 😍great work
I just bought a '72 a month ago. Love your car dude!
Sure. Spend $200,000 and you can design everything just right. It's nice. I get it but no one mentioned the money as you drove around the 3 bears.
Gebby he built it himself so it was probably not even half that
Bad ass episode!! Love mikes style and the way he makes these!!
As a mustang driver, com on Mike. I would not say you should have a mullet because you like mopar, why you gotta bring up the mustang into the woods scenario. Seriously though love your videos man. Great dude, love the east coast flavor you bring to muscle cars.
Love your final thoughts.. I built not bought mine the acknowledgement at shows and roll in's says I made the right decision.
House of muscle? Like, then watch
lmao
+John Locke old man how you make your way out of your grave😂
Still no ZL1 2017 vs GT350R 2017...
I think the teaser was released way too early...
Tekky Quickbits Yeah, MTOD has really ruined the motortrend channel.
I haven't watched this video yet (still at work) but wanted to comment: Thank the V8 muscle Gods Mike Musto has a new video on RUclips, and it's a healthy 15 minutes plus. Can't wait to get home to watch it fully.
His name is Nick Lightnings. That is too damn cool.
I'm glad he's not one of the rich car show guys that show up with the super expensive car they bought and know nothing about, that never drives over 25 mph, will never mod it, and they think their shit don't stink cause their is expensive.
Nick is one of the most down to earth guys you'll ever meet.
Building a 70 RS myself right now! Something to aspire to for sure.
I parked next to this car at the 2016 dream machine show. Its cool!
¡Chingado, Lightning! that's a heck of a job you did there!
too bad they picked a crap road, more waves than the Pacific. you got a license plate light out there...
So the difference between a resto-mod and a pro-touring car is whether it has an LS or not? Someone call R.J. Gottlieb and tell him he's doing it wrong... quick!
Musto.. *You*, look like an 'Adonis' stood next to that '70!
'turbocharge' trans-am or not, you never fail to have me hooked on you're content man!
Should we see what the commenters drive? What's sitting in the driveway? Weekend warrior maybe? Track focused monster? Trusty daily? Or Low riding street sweeper? Question is what's sitting in the driveway or in the garage? What do *you* drive?
I've got a 01' BMW 330i with light suspension mods (daily)
93' Toyota hilux with a 1jz swap (project/not road legal)
a 98' Holden commodore VT (skid pig)
and a 93' Nissan c33 laurel sitting in pieces in the garage.
Eratiik awesome cars mate! I currently drive a 01 Corolla wagon. But I'm saving up to build a Datsun 1200 ute.
Thanks bro. I've been wanting another ute like a Datsun some time in the future also but I have too much going on my budget doesn't allow it lol. Need to get rid of something first, but I'm not to keen on the idea just yet haha. What I *really* want next is either a BMW 325i touring or a Nissan stagea.
Eratiik got 2 mustangs 😂 a 2010 mustang gt and a 1997 mustang gt. in the process of building both to what i want. granps had a datsun 240 i wanna get that and go the route of sung kang.
wyndell wallace oh shit, nice. What kind of builds you going for?
I love that car!! Except for one thing. The exhaust drone would make me hate this car after about 10 minutes of driving.
I bet a Mustang driver disliked this video haha
Lucas Mick The dislikes are from Liberals.
I drive a couple of Mustangs but I love 2nd gen Camaros, as well as 68-72 Chevy A body cars. Hell, I love all American muscle cars, period, no matter the manufacturer.
RomVlad yeah same here.
Lucas Mick you can’t love this Camaro?
70 Camaro RS/Z28 ? I think this camaro is bad ass
That car is beautiful. Wish had the means and knowledge to to do this. He did a DAM good job.
I'd love to be able to autocross or race around a track in my 1982 Chevrolet El Camino one day, while having it be a comfortable daily driver at the same time, this Camaro is somewhat what I'd like it to be. ^^
Awesome build👌🏾what a guy U've got to watch dis y'all👍🏾
Oh, this is my favourite Camaro. Had an A/FX Z28 that I loved as a kid. Split-bumper looks great.
Beautiful Camaro! Live your dream brotha...
GOOD TO SEE THIS GUY DOING VIDEOS AGAIN. I WONDER WHAT HAPPENED AT BIG MUSCLE ON DRIVE???...whoops caps lock was on
yes again New Zealand in the house
Thomas Puia alexandra m8
no.
I set up a great plan for my 260z restomod.... changing my mind about little things almost every day
Love the sticker on the rear spoiler! got one of those myself from the great Mary Posey!
I love it, such a cool car. In cab mic could be a little louder but great episode, just like every other one. Cant wait for more.
Those early 70s Camaros are amoung the sexiest cars ever made. I would sell my mom for that one
Wow, someone should've remembered to bring the gimbal when filming from within this car. The ride is rough.
Built or bought, I understand the awesomeness and the uniqueness in building your own car, but a new ZL1 you can finance & you're good to go. Not everyone has the knowledge to build a car from scratch.
There is merit to both. I don't think there really is a wrong answer as long as you are happy with what ever you do.
Ok wait that turning radius is witchcraft
Right?!?
helyeah... ; )
Can anyone reading this possibly know a time stamp of where it shows the turning radius? I just watched the whole thing, but I must have missed that.
Favorite generation of Camaro right here. Yes, things are definitely better the second time around.
thanks Mitchell for posting another muscle car video☺
I'm a Ford guy. In saying that, this car is nothing short of amazing.
The carbon fiber body parts for the Camaro are all Anvil, you can get them at 1ShopAuto (240 lb reduction)
Damnnn she's a beauty. Never thought I would say that about that gen camaro
Well done, beautiful result. I want to thank the camera and edit staff for some beautiful footage. Keep on... Chuck in Kansas
Big thanks Chuck!
Awesome car!!
I remember the "blue ballz" Camaro you showcased a while back. You implied it could beat the average Ferrari.. what's funny is literally a day after that video was released on RUclips "blue ballz" was beat at an auto cross in California by a 130hp b16 Civic eg. Hahahahah
Rusty Shackleford Did he say in an autocross? A civic on a tiny track would probably also beat a Ferrari.
Rusty Shackleford lol i bet an Ariel Atom could beat him. There is a reason why actual race cars don't have interiors.
Rusty Shackleford It's clear you've never been in or even stood near classic muscle cars. They're not big, and they're lighter than your average modern car.
A rustang is small, a dart is small, everything else is full-size or larger. The real problem with making classics handle is body-on-frame.
The camera that recorded the Camaro on the track makes it look like the video and the car were finished in 2005
Nick great build, beautiful car.
When I was a kid i dreamed about having a car like that one its beautiful.
Work of art.
Beautiful Build!
Bear Creek Road near Orinda, CA (the road where a lot of this was shot, and where you mention ride quality) is rough in anything, let alone a car set up for track use.
It would be an amazing road if it was in good shape. As is, not so much.
What a beautiful car. Well done.
House of muscle was the best. I miss it so much.
Show should be renamed, "Pro Touring Muscle Car Show". Great looking camaro though. I always wanted a '70 or '71.
Best show yet guys
To the person that did the video for this episode, good job. To the audio engineer, bad job. Try to make it so we can actually hear Mike next time when he's driving the car. All I heard was bass from the engine half the time.
