@William Dupree In the world of cinematic storytelling McDuffie unfortunately never had the opportunity to display his talent. Writing for books and television is different than writing for the big screen. I don't doubt McDuffie's talent but I also cant say he was definitively better than Nolan because honestly we'll never know. All I can do is compare him to one of this generations "top" directors/story tellers.

Even though he's no longer with us his creative genius continues to ripple throughout various mediums. McDuffie's work on _JLU_ surpasses the MCU even today & could be viewed, in retrospect, as a blueprint for _how to get it right._ He understood DC to the characters' core & weaved immaculate, brilliant, mature, hilarious, & dramatic stories around them. In another world, Dwayne McDuffie may have become WB/DC's "Kevin Feige".

Dwayne was a once in a lifetime talent. He gave so many poc kids heroes who looked like them, lived in their world, without cliches or stereotypes. He gave white kids like me, heroes I could love and identify with, despite the differences. To me, Icon was on par with Superman, Staric was every bit as important as Spider-Man. That's important and powerful. And to boot, he was a genius, who used his gifts to spread humanism and compassion. I'm grateful for everything he left behind but I'll always wish he got to keep going, see all his imaginations work realized. I wish he was here to still warm the lives of his family and friends. They all seem to miss him terribly, a sign of his affect on their lives. Rest in Peace, Mr. Mcduffie. You were magnificent.

Couldn't have said it better Jacob, because everything about it is true. He just did them as people, as characters with personalities like any other white character. There wasn't any need of doing a big deal about the fact that they were poc, because we know they are poc, we're only observing them as who they are on the inside and not on the outside. Something that writers and the media nowadays seems to be missing the mark

A young boy who gains power and understands his responsibly to do what is right with those powers. I think this is the right time to adapt Static Shock into a live action movie and slowly introduce Icon and others into the DCU.

I was lucky enough as a young teenager to find Milestone Comics. I can't tell you how lucky I was. Each and every week I couldn't wait to consume them all. As a child I didn't know they were unique from a racial standpoint. To me, they were just incredible stories told through the lens of an incredible world. And while it pains me to admit that I haven't kept up with my favourite childhood pastime of comic book collecting, I want you to know that your wonderful stories have never left me after all these years.
Until this video I did not know that you had passed away. As I type this, I feel as though I've had the rug pulled out from under me.
Such a loss for this world. And yet it comes as a small comfort to me that you're bigger than THIS world. You literally created one of my favourite worlds, and for that I shall be eternally grateful!

Didn't no he existed. Love his work. RIP. Thanks RUclips I accidentally push the button. Very informative. Something very interesting. Didn't even know black people behind the scenes of my favorite cartoons and comic books. Makes them more interesting. Better believe I'm going to re-watch some Ben 10.

Why couldn’t WB reach into these rich resources? Instead they want to do a black Superman. Icon would definitely fit the Superman bill because he’s almost like Superman in a lot of aspects. Don’t make being a black superheroes the main focus, instead focus on their morales and being a superhero. RIP sir.

Phil Lamar's saying that Static is the only teen black superhero is inaccurate. Cyborg existed well before Static if I'm not mistaken. Not trying to take away from Dwayne's work or influence on comics and superheroes with Static. Quite the contrary. It's a disservice to the memory and legacy to change the facts or allow them to be misinterpreted and give them false praise or credit they likely wouldn't want.

    • @lt2672

Cyborg is trash. I would rather have Static take his place in teen titans and Black Lightning/John Stuart take his place in Justice League.

Give us an Icon and Rocket movie, please. Get to work, WB. It is time. There are writers out there that can do it. Find them and make it happen. He was introduced into the Justice League in the Young Justice series so it shouldn't be hard.
