Steve, I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming and your repairs are not just enjoyable entertainment you really do have a unique approach to problem solving. Hi to dave..
Stellar work. This is beyond cool. I bought a oled switch, zelda edition, and come to find out the dock is not working. I tested my little brother's dock with my switch, and again with my own cables, and it worked. My new zelda dock looks to be faulty like the issue with the third dock in your video (Green power light, charging, no signal to television) I was going to buy another dock on ebay, but after seeing your video, I don't mind paying a local tech guru to do repair on mine, and support local business. 😁
Hey Steve. New viewer. I repaired a dock for a friend of mine a few months ago that had the symptoms of your "donor" board. There's a BGA chip under the HDMI cage. I actually replaced it with a chip I found for 25 dollars on ali and, miraculously, it fixed it. Hope it helps if you ever revisit some day.
@@TheSoapyJew he said he got those for $9 each and they have many parts in them, including probably the part you bought. These docks are like $40 in working condition so I think you just overpaid...
Thanks for another great vid Steve. It's funny on ebay how not working sometimes means working, but untested always means not working. Nice they added some kisses for this one though 😂
Great results Steve ... plus a spare to scavenge for parts. Buying as part of a broken item can be much more cost effective route to build your spares holding ... assuming your partner doesn’t begrudge you the space to store things. .... plus another song for the album of repair anthems. 😁 thanks Chris! Definitely made more sense to use one of these for parts, I've saved £1 straight away by using that chip, and the rest of the board, USB C ports and casing will come in useful at some point I'm sure! 👍

I have exactly the same problem with my dock, no light, no image no nothing, but I've always used the default charger for the dock, I wonder if it is the same chip that is causing the issue.
"no power kiss" is actually an extremely common fault. The issue stems from the dock's inability to feel love. Usually this is a terminal condition that can't be fixed. There is a part cut out of this video where Dave performs extensive counseling for the docks

Nice fix Steve! I had the exact same issue with mine. No power, then replaced M92T55 and voila. I also have an other one like you with green light on but no display. That one I could not fix. There is a BGA chip behind the HDMI port under the shield. That could be similar like a retimer chip on an Xbox. Could pretty much be that is wrong. Thanks Kiki! I was going to take off the shielding to see what was under near the HDMI port, but I just decided to use it as a donor. I would like to find out what the issue is, so I might have another go. I'm guessing it's quite a common fault!
Weird issue I am having and wonder if you have some insight. My docks USB ports only work when the switch is not on the dock or off. Im having an issue with my dock and it's exactly like the 3rd one. It was working fine one day then stopped working the next day. I've tried everything and nothing has worked so I think I'll just have to get rid of it.
Are you sure it's not the switch itself? The switch has chokes right around the PI32USB chip which are video filters. If one shorts, the unit won't "dock". Your dock may be perfectly fine, unless you've already tested it with another switch and verified it's not fine....
@@_egglord If your determined to fix it, there are usually 3 things that go wrong when a switch won't dock. 1) The video filters / chokes on the switch motherboard around the PIUSB32 chip but you've already ruled this out by trying other switches 2) The MT92T55 charging circuit chip inside the switch dock. These get damaged primarily when non OEM chargers are used but can fail otherwise 3) USB-C ports.
