Amazed you managed to get the pins out AND back in again without them pinging off and you spending 3 hours on your knees looking for them. Seriously good work Steve 👍
You're not an idiot, we all mistakes. That's the problem with being human. You've done and learned things I've only ever dreamed of attempting, let alone accomplishing successfully as you've done in your videos. Keep up the awesome work! Fixing your mistakes is far more respectable than never admitting you made one.
I applaud you for the amount of patience you have to put those pins back into the connector (6:50) and getting it to work again 👏 Most people would just swap out the connector completely lol.
Patience is a godsend esp when your eyes cant see what youre doing without needing external magnification, truly exceptional work for someone that feels hes an amateur.
Are you kidding me? Those pins would have ended up somewhere in my nose while breathing...or in the room while throwing something away of anger. Amazing job! I guess just a few people are able to not lose their mind working with these teeny-weeny pins!
This fix was so tense that I almost had a heart attack! :) Very nice, I don't think I could put those pins back with my shaky hands. I have a similar microscope as you and I'm wondering where you get that stand for it. The one that came with mine offers very little room to work with.
Thanks Norrecito! My scope is a Frankenstein of 2 different stands. I used the LED lights and base from the original one and stuck an articulated arm to it. That gives so much more room underneath! This is the articulated arm stand I used: thepihut.com/products/articulated-arm-stand-for-usb-microscope
Geez, I wasn't doing it but I was sweating bullets. I need a drink after that one. Good job I really thought one of those pins were going to go into the 9th dimension.
if this does fail again you could just consider the wire bypass trick next time. yes it makes repairing in the long run hader but at least it guarantees a connection.
Thanks Danny, I did wonder about doing that, so I'd probably do that if it fails again. It's been going for a couple of weeks now and no issues so far! 👍
Steve, time to signup for the brain surgery course, you clearly have the necessary dexterity and skill 😀👍 ... although I did have my fingers crossed as applied the hot air onto that poor plastic connector. Keep up the great work!
Thanks Chris. I did heat the connector from underneath, but i realised I didn't really show that! Turned out well in the end! Brain Surgery course booked! 😬
Steve "Get in there"! I felt the elation and the pain. I have done about may be 3 times now and I remember the first time I ever did it was with soldering iron and it when very well. Since I have done with hot air nervously, which went pretty well but they can be a pain when soldering the legs with the soldering iron. Steve job well done.
I was really expecting a 'dink', piece flies out of shot, accompanied by over dubbed swearing on this one. But you held your nerve brilliantly. Dave's coaching is paying off
Perhaps, one day you can be a professional. You put in all those pins into the connectors in a factory instead of the machine that usually does it. Wouldn’t that be fun?
Yo Steve, just going through some of your older videos and I am amazed with the steady hands you had pitting those pins back in. I struggle so hard on those tiny parts because I get too stressed out and get a litle bit of the shakes. lol. Great job!.
That's a top job right there. Nicely done! I for one would not have tried to repair the connector. I'd have salvaged something from a donor board. Your patience is admirable!
My OLED has a problem with the SD card reader where if the system is tapped weirdly, it will disconnect it. For a hot minute it would just reconnect and disconnect at random. Glad there's a video in case I need to replicate and replace it!
hello! i have seen some of your tamagotchi repair videos and wondering if you can help me. I bought a tamagotchi v4 brand new sealed on ebay but whenever i turn it on it stays on for a few seconds and then the screen fades out. i have done some research and was told to replace the crystal oscillator and capacitor but i have no idea how to do that.
Great job Steve! Far more patience than I have. I would just replace the connector, but you made a great video with it, great skill too, keep up the good work and yes you deserve a drink and a steak after doing that.👍
You have more patience than me. These IPC connectors are about $3 each on Amazon or less on AliExpress. I attempted a dozen times heating up the board on the chip facing side before relenting and heating from underneath the board a 450. The plastic on these things melts too easily.
@@StezStixFix Yea I get that a lot when I show people repairs under my amscope 75X and they always say that's easy. Ok here you go you try it. Steve what's the zoom on your digital scope?
It goes up to x270, but it has a digital zoom on it too which i don't use. I'm not sure what it is "standard", but I would guess it was similar to the x75 on yours. Either way, I know it makes things look much easier. And I can imagine people looking at it and thinking its a piece of cake! 😬 we know the truth!
Wow 👏 😮 nice job Steve 👏 👍 👌 so enjoy your videos 📹 👍 please keep them coming 🙏 😊 and here to help 😀 get your videos 📹 😉 out to everyone to enjoy 😉 😀 cheers 🍻 mate 👍 😀
Why aren't you using scotch tape to rescue those pins?! I admit I'm not an engineer, so I can't remember exactly how my friend does it, but for tiny things he has to place on a board, I remember something about him using scotch tape, then he anchors the pins down with something that is conductive, and I think he uses alcohol to wash the tape residue off.
Bruh, why does a last gen portable console has such an absolute cr*p connector that falls apart if you look at it wrong like that, which is basically a bunch of loose pins inside a plastic housing? Talk about anti-repair design... You know what this reminds me of? Those friggin' crap Nokia cellphone charging connectors of the past... the proprietary ones with exposed copper pins. If corrosion ever gets to that connector, it's over. Kudos to Steve for having the patience to fix this... I'd just end up with a Switch in a million pieces inside the garbage can, seriously. :P Replacing the drifting sticks was enough to get in my nerves, and if I remember correctly that didn't even require soldering. :P Anyways, learning a ton from your channel Steve, thanks for sharing! :D
Hey True-Alucard! Have you tried a different dock? If it's not the dock, then I would imagine it's either a problem with the USB C port, or maybe even one of the filters from P13 chip or maybe P13 itself? Good luck 👍
I remember this guy he's the definition of a beta male

Oh I KNOW that deep sigh when too much solder ends up on some tiny legs all close together. What a pain.
We accept you, imperfections and all. =D
