@@DannyEastes Koji Kondo composed the music for SF64. While I adore his work, I agree that Hirasawa's score for SF is better than the rescore for SF64. I think this is largely due to Miyamoto's aim with the original SF to sound like an epic, orchestrated sci-fi film like _Star Wars._ SF64, for all intents and purposes, is a "reboot" of the original SNES game. The characters, aesthetics, tone, etc all got a complete makeover. Even the logo was changed. The original SNES version's tone was more straight, comparable to something like _The Empire Strikes Back._ The tone of SF64 was dialed down to that of a kid's Saturday morning cartoon, and it's only gotten worse ever since. Ironic, isn't it? For all the advances in modern gaming technology, no SF title has been able to topple the original SNES version, with it's primitive polygon graphics. The same lesson taught from Minecraft; better graphics =/= better gameplay.
@@sixstanger00 That's probably why A Fox In Space is leaning more heavily into the SNES canon than the 64 one. There's something darker and mysterious about Star Fox 1 and 2.
@@at5297 A Fox In Space is top-notch. It's a shame no network or streaming service will back such a project to produce episodes. Gafford's plot for Ep 2 in particular opened up a flood gate of story possibilities.
More than 13 years since this music was posted online and I only discovered it now. Fortunately, I did not miss this masterful performance. Thank you very much for sharing this.
Growing up in the UK This was called "Star Wing", because of some legal issue surrounding an obscure early 8-bit game called "Star Fox". And "Star Fox 64" was called "Lylat Wars".. Bizarre, eh? Loved both all the same. I have to admit that the three four-player splits reen 64 games my friends n I played(Goldeneye, Perfect Dark & Lylat Wars), I was by far the best 😋
My brother, and I can't ever agree on video games. I was a 90s kid, grew up on the catrigde consoles. Still play them to this day. Starfox is my all time favorite game. He rather play xbox360 = \
tell him that as long as he may be an xbox gamer; it's always healthy to respect the classics. if we don't remember where gaming came from; then we've lost ourselves, after all. and this is coming from a guy whose younger years were spent playing PaperBoy on the SNES.
There's no other song quite like this one. It makes me feel alive, when I was just about ready to die. Star Fox was a great game... but it's a tragedy that being associated with a video game has denied this brilliant piece of music its place in classical music history... Or has it? :D
Harisawa's score remains the greatest in Star Fox history. In a better world, we'd have seen him and Nintendo come to an agreement that would keep him on board for the franchise's future endeavors; but as is, it was worth it just to get one master work like this.
There must never be a Star Fox Movie! The game itself is a homage to the space sci-fi movie genre; there should only be focus to make the games as awesome as possible.
Ugh, that missing note/chord at the end! Does anybody know where this song originated from? EDIT: Nevermind, found it! I thought the OP's credit of "Orchestral Game Concert 3" would be too generic to find, but nope! And the song does complete at the end!
We don't need a animated movie of Star Fox, I think. What we need is better games with good cinematic and of course, score like on Assault. Assault score was great, but it was better on the original tracks. I mean, most of them were orchestra arrangements of Star Fox 64. They are good, but.. with the new original tracks, you can close your eyes and imagine you're there on Lylat Sistem fighting the evil. The original tracks were superb.
Nothing is impossible as long as you have an active imagination and a good and believable script. It's just that film makers these days don't put much effort into making a well-written script. Especially when it comes to making movies based on video games.
Origins story. Fox and Falco are rivals. Falco wants to join the hired guns known as Star Wolf. Fox tries to dissuade him. With his trusty gadget toad feller and a mentor who knew his father, he sets out on a journey to recruit Falco away from Star Wolf and their evil ways. This will also set the table for Andross to start the pieces moving for the sequel.
@Cusemanmike I agree. Usually when it comes to Hollywood, they never do such a great job with making video game based movies. I mean look at how disastrous the live action Street Fighter turned out to be. But still, I'm sure there's still hope. All it takes is a good production team to make such a movie; a good script, good voice actors, breath taking action scenes and a memorable soundtrack, I can already picture a Starfox theatrical film playing in the theatre. And trust me, I'd be there.
@MDthornton83 I know I'm a little late since you last posted your comment 11 months ago, but i too think Star Fox would make a great film. I mean it's got the characters and the basic plot setup for a great 90 minute flick. Heck even an animated movie aimed towards a younger audience would still be a great setup for a movie like that. Thing is....anything that gets "filtered" by hollywood tends to come out.......not....so great haha
You're right. Nintendo doesn't do very good movies, to be honest. They tried Mario, and they fucked it, so, it's clear that this wouldn't be a live action movie. This would be CGI.. and would be so impossible idea
I like this theme much more than the Star Fox 64 one.
wanted to type the same.. I just don't get it why they switched and never used this again; Also the themes from all other planets are better.
@@CosmicD Hirasawa left nintendo almost immediately after starfox was released, so they had to get a new composer for 64

THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD, I LOVE IT THAT THE ORIGINAL ORCHESTRATED PIECE SURVIVED!!!
Same! I remember listening to this in 2000! So much precious memories.

thumbs up if you would LOVE to see a star fox movie
Given that we had a Mario movie and we will get a Zelda movie, it would be possible
"Come in, Corneria !" "This is Corneria. Pepper speaking. Congratulations on a job well done !" "Roger ! I'm heading back to Corneria."
Just finished the game recently, I felt so satisfied.

Back to enjoy music for starfighters what ever you fly your bird is your partner and to fly is to be free
A fantastic piece of music, but it's a shame the the ending is cut off without allowing the last chord to resonate.
Do you know where this song was recorded from? Was it from an album or recorded live?
I haven't heard this before, but I'm glad I searched for it, because this is what I imagined it to sound like in an orchestral arrangement.
i don`t why, i always tear when hear this song, it so touched!!! (sorry, my poor English.)
subarashii desu ne.... wow
When did john williams get a job at Nintendo?
RIGHT!?
this sounds really good arranged for orchestra. Video game music is some of the best out there.

I caught that too. Hey, wait a minute. Is Star Fox and Metroid set in the same universe?

I most certainly would. I believe that there's a LOT of ponetial for such a film to be made.

This music is part of what made me like the game serie in the first place.
As long as the movie is by Nintendo themselves, then yes!
this reminds me of Ilia's from Star-Trek: The Motion Picture
Starfox, as he appears on the SNES boxart used to freak the bujeezus out of me as a child.
I might think about using this theme in a tribute video for Star Fox's 30th anniversary.
Beautiful
very john williams-ish.
And Chris Pine as Fox and Mark Hamill as Peppy. Why not? xD
I really see Ron Perlman as Andross.
ZorroMcNube yes he looks like Andross.
I LOVED to play this game when I was young XD
Epicness

True
If such a movie was made, I would hope that it would be an animated film, like the Pixar films. And Joss Whedon should make it.
describe the potential please.
@joeisnice I'd be nervous about the casting.
Who do you think would make it?

Did the conductor screw up? The brass section clearly misses the beat.
Just as long as it is not like Command with it's multiple endings.
