Back To Work! Radical Losi Baja Rey Project Truck Gets Upgrades & Reassembled! PT4 | RC Driver

- It’s been a while since we worked on the Radical Losi Baja Rey Project Truck as I’m still getting things organized from a recent move. A frantic packing job from the move resulted in parts getting thrown in various boxes. I finally located everything and now it’s time get get this thing back on the bench. In this video, I get the Robinson cluster gear installed, bolt on some new rear towers, slip in a new ESC and bolt much of the truck back together. It’s looking like a radical transformation and one that should be both durable and exciting when we finally get to drive it. We’re almost there! Great video's on the Baja Rey Raptor! My kids and I own 2. One has ssd front diff case and ssd 3rd member, rpm front bumper. Trucks are a blast to race together. One tough truck that handles good out of the box.

EVERY RC I've owned in the last decade has had a RRP pinion & not 1 has failed.

I am liking this build. I don't own a Baja Rey, but I do have a Super Baja Rey which would look nice with the upgrades you are using if they came/come in 1/6 scale. My brother has the Rock Rey which some of these upgrades would work on. The only thing is neither of us really take care of them all that well as we just rip em till they break, fix what's broke, and run them some more. I don't remove bearings or do full rebuilds. I just don't have that kind of patience. Becides, it's only a $400 RC. Not like a $1400 5ive T. I do take better care of the 5T, but not like some people or pros do. I don't race professionally and I'm not really concerned all that much about cost. I'm probably just more rough on my RCs than the typical person. I don't run my RCs in water too much except for my Traxxas Summit which gets the worst conditions thrown at it. Lol. I might run thru a puddle or some mud at times with my 5T or others, but not completely cake it with mud. Summit has been buried in mud, under water, in snow, etc etc. Honestly though, I do take preventative maintenance in stride and they usually prevent catastrophe. I watch what others do and take it further. For instance, completely filling the rear axle of my UDR with grease, but not so much that it overstresses the motor and seal areas that can be sealed. I leave parts dry with no grease if dirt can become an abrasive component.

@@jimborghini2761 ALSO GOT GPM LOWER AND UPPER A-ARMS, STEERING KNUCKLES AND DISC BRAKES WHICH IS ALL ONE PIECE. I WANT TO PUT UPGRADE FRONT AND REAR SWAY BARS CANNOT FIND ANY. HOT RACING DO SOME BUT NONE FOR SALE THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK!

I have the same trailing arms and same xl shocks. When I installed them the plastic piece on top and bottom of shock where the screw goes through, I had to use a dremel to cut them down so it would fit in trailing arm.. it looks like you didn't have to? What did you do ? I'm new to the rc community.
Hello Gregory, great build! I always enjoy you videos and find them very informative and well done. I’m thinking to add this truck to my fleet and while I enjoy modding my RCs however the mods are not always “necessary” but are fun to do. What mods for this truck would you consider necessary, or how would you prioritize the mods? The first one I’m planning is the steering mod, after that I’m not sure which ones to do. Any advise regarding the mods for this truck would be appreciated.

Other than preference and looks is there any benefit using stainless steel screws other than corrosion resistance?
That is the primary reason.
Also poor quality SS screws will strip and break easier than treated black steel screws

I have a question, do the smart batteries work on the old ec3 connecter
Yes, its backwards compatible.
Do you know if you have to run the smart batteries with that ESC? The only thing I dont like about my BR is the ESC. Id like to change it.
Only if you want to utilize the telemetry data. I use my old EC3 and EC5 equipped Dynamite batteries with the new Spektrum ESC’s all the time.
