I was part of a 3 man team in game design courses senior year of highschool. We took first in a state competition using Unity. The fact that they created this capacity of a videogame in that software blows me away. I'm thoroughly impressed. And from a longtime BF3 fan I'm sold.
Best game to happen in the industry in years. I'm an early 80s kid so the graphics don't bother me. I've played every battlefield. This is the battlefield we wanted but never got. Highly recommended. Well done to the development team
After like 10mins it’s very easy to completely forget about the graphics and just enjoy yourself. The game seems like it’s min/maxing the best parts of squad and BF.
It's not that hardcore players don't want to play a low poly game, it's just that there aren't many hardcore players that want a milsim out there. And those that are out there already have Squad, Post Scriptum and ARMA.
Absolutely not true Milsim players (like any player) are absolutely on the edge of their seat waiting for any new game to hit the market. Would it have hit its need 90k peak? No probably not but it'd have more then enough players to keep servers alive for years. They'd have a complete market to themselves if they launch on consoles as well. (Especially Switch) with crossplay.
@@bakersmileyface i do think that the Artstyle pushed a lot of people away. I don't care about graphics usually, but BB just looks weird to me and I never played it and probably never will. I play Rising Storm 2 : Vietnam for years Battlebit is a same level of hardcore with RS2:V imo not too hardcore like Milsim but not too casual like Cod or BF
the thing i love most about battlebit, is despite the in game chat disagreeing for the most part lol. I just find it that casual that I cannot get annoyed. I just play it and feel enjoyment and fun, I dont feel triggered when I die, i dont get rattled when I get shit talked or just constantly battered by the enemy. its the one game i can play without feeling the need to backflip infront of a highspeeding train which ALOT of games dont offer anymore. I can actually enjoy myself and chill playing this game. its fun, i love it
This is the lightning in the bottle right here. So many games these days have systems in place that are meant to ensure player retention through fear of missing out, addiction and frustration. The idea in those games is that the player is meant to feel that if they do badly, they are punished, therefore creating the thought that the player must keep playing, until he does well. We all know a game or two that follows that formula. Battlepit has a different approach. Because the gameplay is fast, and the teams are massive, player death is considered a natural part of the gameplay loop and players are even expected to sacrifice themselves to capture objectives, save teammates or destroy vehicles. This is incentivized by the massive amounts of points those actions award. The punitiveness of getting killed is kept minimal by allowing everyone to revive others, as well as again awarding massive points for revives. This creates a positive reinforcement in the gameplay, which inherently makes the game less punitive, and simply put, more fun.
exactly. when i get killed by a cheesing fucker in bf2042 in a nightbird or a superhind that never dies or a vehicle camping outside render range or on top a of a building it is incredibly infuriating and i commit my next respawn to destroying them. in battlebit i die and... i feel nothing negative. i just respawn and keep on having fun. i dont feel like i have to respawn as an anti air and playing something i do not like playing to get of the guy who was ruining my fun, all while the ingame voice chat is entertaining me. a guy outplays me in a 1v1 and we have some light banter over chat. i kill him and drag his body and we get both laughs out of it. its soooooooooooooooooo different
Fucking about to cry. Good shit devs, I hope you guys make millions for your hard work, time, and dedication. What an amazing story. Currently writing this comment, the “drop off” is just not happening. On a Saturday morning, there are 70,000 concurrent players.
Something I've noticed in the game is how everyone playing seems to genuinely be having a blast. Every time I'm around people using proximity chat, they're always laughing and having a good time, communicating well, being polite to teammates, etc. None of the insults that plagues games like COD. At the end of a round, both teams saying GG, no rude or inappropriate things being said, and everyone just focusing on which map to vote for. Even though it's just a game, it's almost like it has a good atmosphere about it if that makes sense.
Thanks for taking the time to put this together! BbR is such a breath of fresh air. As a 41yr old that played and got tired of the Battlefield series from the beginning, that now plays a lot of Squad, this game literally brings back the whole *point* of Battlefield for me - a fun and relaxing shootey game you can pick up and put down at any time, that still includes the fun game mechanics i want to enjoy! Love it :)
I only found out about Battlebit about a month ago and bought it. It turns out to be one of the best FPS games I've ever played. I had no idea how much history was behind it. This really makes me appreciate the game even more.
I’m so happy this game was well received. I have played almost every playtest since the early days, and I have loved seeing how it has progressed over the years. I have played an unhealthy amount of this game since early access release.
It's so beautiful to see, a passion that never died. They never caved, never gave in, stayed true to themselves and made something that will stand the test of time. Seeing something this genuine, no matter what it is, brings tears to my eyes. Good job you guys. You've made us all extremely proud.
If you have played the game before the early access. The 2nd to the last playtest where the trailer was released in-game was the most awesome moment. Everyone stopped playing because there is a trailer on your screen was so awesome. A lot thought that the game was getting hacked or something. Such a cool trailer drop.
I admire the devs persistence over the years and am so stoked for them to see their passion project deliver on such a huge level. This game is insanely fun and I think ultimately the low poly graphics give it a playful feel that remind you in every second why you are playing: just to have that fun. Here's to many more years of Battle-bitting!
If more games like Battlebit come out and give these AAA studios a run for their money...maybe we can expect the gaming industry to turn around and make more immersive gameplay. I havent played Battlebit yet....not because I am not interested...but because if I do, I know that I will end up single because I will be consumed with it.
I have nothing but respect for these three gentlemen. They did the FPS world a huge service showing what sheer passion and vision can achieve. I only wish for the franchises that this game was inspired from to learn from Battlebit's development and reception. We need more games with this level of vision. AAA fps is failing players, and the developers of Battlebit had enough and made something we can all enjoy and look back fondly towards.
This game is absolutely amazing. Thank you to the devs for working so hard to give us this experience. As a person who enjoyed Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty World at War and who the modern day Call of Duty's and Battlefields have burned beyond redemption, thank you for giving us a fantastic game that hearkens back to the days before we gamers were seen as mindless wallets by those that make our entertainment. You deserve all the success that comes your way.
As someone who was able to playtest this game before, i really love how it came out. The devs being so kind about lowering the price so everyone everywhere can buy and enjoy it. This game really had a spot in my library and now its on early access, i can enjoy it once again
Battlebit may well have ushered in a new era in gaming. The way I see it one of 2 things can happen from here: either a) AAA devs learn from the success of this game and course correct and we see something of a return to form and a revitalization of FPS or b) AAA devs don't learn an we see a massive reshuffle of the gaming industry with much more indie games taking the spotlight, while the classic AAA titles like COD and BF slowly die out within 2-3 releases. Only time will tell. Either way there is a big shift happening in the industry right now
Definitely one of the best games of the decade for the FPS genre. It’s a shame that there are not a lot of developers like these guys out there who care about the product they make and the pride they take in their work.
I love how the games literaly took the walking noises and some of the props on the map straight from unturned, one of the developers made a curated unturned map actully
These 3 god tier developers deserves every bit of success they’re getting. Somehow their servers are more stable than 90% of triple A games while holding way more players.

As a person who grew up on the Battlefield franchise all the way from 1942 seeing it being absolutely killed off in my eyes with BF2042, this game gave me the BF game I never knew I wanted. It's amazing and does everything right, a labour of love from literally 3 people basically curbstomping AAA devs. This is truly amazing and I am at awe. I hope DICE and EA are fuming that 3 people got them by the balls.

I started playing all kinds of fps and AAA games at 5. And it was the most fun I enjoyed when I first played Crysis but I couldn't feel any joy like that anymore. Battlebit really brings me something back, something I've lost in my childhood❤❤

I only heard about this game about a month ago when it first hit Steam early access. I knew it was made by only 3 devs, but had no idea just how extensive the history was. Incredible stuff.
Old guy here. I spent many many hours in the early Battlefield games. 1942(EA) 1942-Desert Combat Mod(DICE), then BF2 (2005). This game feels...how do I say this... EXACTLY like Battlefield 2. I have so much time in that game and was very sad to see it go. Here we are, 2023, I playtest and new immediately this game was going to F word. It F words. I think the part I like the most, is that I like the company. It feels like the AAA game producers have been getting away with abusing their player bases for a decade now. This is the breath of fresh air I have been waiting a VERY long time for. Thanks for the game guys!
Yes, exactly like bf2 just with half the content missing. I mean beggars can't be choosers but this game gets praised like it's the best fps in the last decade despite being a cheap BF2 knock-off and I don't know if it says more about the state of the industry or the players.
I think this game may go down on history as the ultimate message to aaa devs that game design and making something people actually find fun makes for larger player bases than fancy graphics and stupid loot boxes and battlepasses

The game seems like it’s min/maxing the best parts of squad and BF.
we are wanting delta force ;) lol
Battlebit Remastered is a masterclass in reading the market and knowing your demographic. They deserve all the success they are getting.
it makes me so happy to see this game doing so well. some of the most fun I've had playing a game in a long time
It's not that hardcore players don't want to play a low poly game, it's just that there aren't many hardcore players that want a milsim out there. And those that are out there already have Squad, Post Scriptum and ARMA.
Absolutely not true
Milsim players (like any player) are absolutely on the edge of their seat waiting for any new game to hit the market.
Would it have hit its need 90k peak? No probably not but it'd have more then enough players to keep servers alive for years.
They'd have a complete market to themselves if they launch on consoles as well. (Especially Switch) with crossplay.
@@Giliver Alright. In your opinion why do you think that milsim gamers didn't crowd around battlebit?
Actually we're all waiting for Arma 4
@@bakersmileyface i do think that the Artstyle pushed a lot of people away. I don't care about graphics usually, but BB just looks weird to me and I never played it and probably never will. A milsim player wants mechanics and depth in their game, and the artstyle just takes you out of the immersion.
@@thrashermosher419 Thank you for the well thought analysis
exactly. when i get killed by a cheesing fucker in bf2042 in a nightbird or a superhind that never dies or a vehicle camping outside render range or on top a of a building it is incredibly infuriating and i commit my next respawn to destroying them.
in battlebit i die and... i feel nothing negative. i just respawn and keep on having fun. i dont feel like i have to respawn as an anti air and playing something i do not like playing to get of the guy who was ruining my fun, all while the ingame voice chat is entertaining me. a guy outplays me in a 1v1 and we have some light banter over chat. i kill him and drag his body and we get both laughs out of it. its soooooooooooooooooo different
Massive Win, thank you devs. I really hope the success gets you guys a ton of money, you guys really deserve it.
Fucking about to cry. Good shit devs, I hope you guys make millions for your hard work, time, and dedication. What an amazing story. Currently writing this comment, the “drop off” is just not happening. On a Saturday morning, there are 70,000 concurrent players.
They sold 2 million copies which would equal to around $30 million USD.
Learning the history behind this game has made me root for these guys even harder. I wish them all the success in the world.
Dude, you sold me on the game. Just purchased. Happy to support the devs more than anything. Looks fun!
Here's to many more years of Battle-bitting!
love the game. hope in the future they allow mod support. I could only imagine a star wars mod with 127 clones vs 127 droids
Never did I think MoidDawg would be covering Battlebit! Well played.
Either way there is a big shift happening in the industry right now
Yall deserve the praise & support
Wonderful doc on the team
Really truly amazing that they were able to build this and do it as well as they did. I cannot comprehend the level of work that went into it
Definitely one of the best games of the decade for the FPS genre. It’s a shame that there are not a lot of developers like these guys out there who care about the product they make and the pride they take in their work.
Wut? Have you never played Hell Let Loose?
I love how the games literaly took the walking noises and some of the props on the map straight from unturned, one of the developers made a curated unturned map actully
These 3 god tier developers deserves every bit of success they’re getting. Somehow their servers are more stable than 90% of triple A games while holding way more players.
been a playtester/ paetron since 2021, so happy to see where the game is now and exited to see how it expands in the future congrats to oki, larry and vilaskis. you guys did an amazing job
This made me buy the game, been on the fence, but their story is enough for me to at the very least buy it. Looking forward to play it later today.
Did you play it yet?
@@AznUzer Yeah. I mean it is good, just not for me personally, cannot really get into the blocky style. I have disposable income, so I don't mind supporting them.
If you are unsure I would check up reviews that would do a much better job at explaining the goods and negatives of the game over me that have surface level knoweldge of BF games in general and BattleBit.
I never been so curious of a game's history.....I hope this demolishes the Battlefield series years to come.
Thank you for this.
As someone that is from the Philippines and a student with mid-end gaming laptop, having only to pay $15 (₱640 in Philippine Pesos) this game is very very fun and awesome to play.
I am very excited what will come next in the next update.
Thank you Moidawg for the awesome story that I did not know about Battlebit’s background history. Love content and please stay safe!
hearing the dedication and honesty of these guys is inspiring. this video made me buy the game and ill likely buy the support edition later
this is the squad killer, mark my words.
\
Not only is this game a passion project but the devs really thought of the player base and those wanting to play. I've been loving the game and I can't wait to see what else is going to be planned for it as time goes on. Long time since I've been really enjoying a game in years.
I really hope this drops on consoles and includes crossplay.
I desperately want to play with my console friends
There's been intense backlash to suggestions for this by MnK loyalists. Hopefully they're ignored though.
@@jackharold8379as long as there is input based matchmaking I wouldn’t mind but the fact this game has no controller players right now is so fucking nice compared to playing Apex where controller has advantages compared to MnK
I would really hate to watch this game turn into another aim assist vs KBM debate because apparently having input based matchmaking is a hard ask in 2023
God I remember the old original Battlebit playtests, those were always fun and it's crazy seeing where this game has gone since then. I definitely felt the more hardcore design that came originally for remastered felt off, and the new current version is leagues better. Incredibly glad this game is doing as well as it is now, they deserve all of the success for making such an amazing game!
I had to sell my CS:GO Skins for this game😞
Had to? Or got to
Get a job lol
They deserve everything good in this world. This game is just so much fun.
I remember playing Super Mario 64 for the first time as a kid (back in 1997) and I was absolutely amazed and in awe.
This game gives me the same feeling, there so much to learn and explore. This game makes me feel like a kid again...and that's the highest praise any game can get. Thank you, devs, you made something extremely beautiful! ♥️
I just bought this game for my 15 yo, he says its so fun!
Man this even touches my heart a bit cause I remember back in like 2018 when this game was first kindof being played and it's been so awesome to be there and watch it grow into something insane!!
These guys deserve the explosive popularity of their game. They sacraficed so much time for something that was a total gamble. Their transparency is also something to behold.
I remember how my best friend showed me the game last year, we both got really hyped uped, finally a game thats gonna give us the battlefield experience we reallly missed over the last years. And oh boy does this game delievers exactly that, i allready have put in over 120h into the game over the past 2 weeks and i still cant get enough it, it is simply so damn good. Another year where my personal game of the year comes from indie developer who just put in there heart and soul into the game and it shows. The Dev's deserve all the praise that they get. I hope Battlebit will stay with us for long ^^
LOVE THE GAME. best bridge ive seen between arcade shooters and hardcore tac shooters.
This was such an awesome video, moi. I've been having an absolute blast with this game for weeks but had no idea of it's rocky past. Quite a few buddies did play when it wasn't nearly as fleshed out and they were very hesitant with the $15 price tag and now I certainly know why. Thankfully, they did end up getting it and now we're all having so much fun!
i’ve played over 24 hours alone on the 4th of the july weekend. some of the most fun i’ve had in a game in a LONG time. AND i can run it. i love it
>Create a house for a East Europe map style.
>End as one of the best multiplayer games in recent times.
Well, that scalated quickly (well, not quickly, but you know).
so happy for these guys, did such an amazing job with Battlebit
I’ve been having so much fun with this game. Seeing how much work they put in, how much money they were struggling with. I want to support them further and will get the supporter package.
One of the most fun games I've played in a long time.
I'm an kid planetside player and there aren't many games that scratch that itch very well but Battle bit certainly does.
I Just started playing this game 2 days ago and im already in love with it, knowing the backstory now made me want to purchase the supporter pack which I now have.
This video is so good. What a dedication. I was so happy by their success but this show it was also by their transparency into the community and delivering a good product. ❤
I love this game so much and its really fun with friends. this game can also be absolutely hilarious.
The photo at 2:30 is Big Red from Customs in Tarkov. Just noticed they remade it in Battlebits
@8:45 The most popular map in Wargame: Red Dragon was fairly asymmetrical but lucked into being nearly perfectly balanced with a variety of possible tactical approaches.
These guys deserve all the credit they're getting. Created an actual fun, affordable game with great feedback and support. Well done to the BattleBit Remastered devs.
I am pretty garbage at the game, but i still love it with the limited time I have played it. It has helped me to get that big battle feeling that I miss from BF1
Thank you MoiDawg, what a great watch and a sub from me, well put together and well researched.
Bravo! 👏 👏 👏
Incredible video, Moi!!!
3 dudes put in more work than 100's of people in DICE
16:40 this is exactly how I feel. I genuinely forget that this game is low poly. I get so immersed into the game when I’m playing it, that I don’t even notice it.
I am in awe at what the battlebit team's been able to build. Absolutely crazy amount of learning and refining to get to where the game is today.
I'm a BF1 veteran and play Ranked Warzone and have my 1st place weapon charm for season 4.
This is my new game. This is almost everything I wanted.
Great video, I was super curious why it was called Remastered despire being a new game. Very insightful, glad this game is getting the love and attention it deserves!
I started playing all kinds of fps and AAA games at 5. And it was the most fun I enjoyed when I first played Crysis but I couldn't feel any joy like that anymore. Battlebit really brings me something back, something I've lost in my childhood❤❤
This is a really cool vid man
Nice to see ya, Husk!
Man this.. THIS IS AWESOME i was never the type of person to buy supporter pack or patreon or whatever. BUT after seeing this video and seeing how much the devs went through and how geniuene they really are, i bought the supporter pack on steam and i didn't even think twice about it. Awesome devs i wish them all the best in their future plans and projects and they defo gained me as a permanent fan.
I love seeing a small group of people make such a big impact on their community
I'm having a blast. I think I'm getting hooked in a way I haven't since I first picked up Planetside 2 or Battlefield 3 before that
I only heard about this game about a month ago when it first hit Steam early access. I knew it was made by only 3 devs, but had no idea just how extensive the history was. Incredible stuff.
This makes me want to get into FPS again. It looks so much fun. Your video sold me on it!
I love this game so much, I haven’t felt this strongly about a video game since black ops 3
Purchased Supporter Pack while watching this. What a great story. Love it!
This game is seriously awesome.the devs deserve all the praise that they've been getting
I think this game may go down on history as the ultimate message to aaa devs that game design and making something people actually find fun makes for larger player bases than fancy graphics and stupid loot boxes and battlepasses
Great short documentary. Great story. Great devs. And i haven't played it yet, but surely great game.
I instantly bought the game during this video wanted to wait till it was cheaper but when I saw the passion and work behind it it was worth the money thats a good game wel done developers. And nice video thanks for making it moidawg
Oh that's cool. Always wondered why it was 'remastered'.
Two weeks later and it has almost 55k positive reviews for you
a little misty-eyed tbh, it's so incredibly wonderful to see the hard work and dedication of 3 devs pay off in such a massive way. I can only imagine how incredible SgtOkiDoki in particular is feeling as the player base continues to grow even more. I wish all the best to him and huge congratulations to the whole team of 3
Nailed it mate, you deserve a sub 👍🏼
Great video man and battlebit remastered is such an awesome indie game :]
Battlebit is a time machine for me. Everytime I spawn in a map I’m back to 2011 playing bf3 all day trying to be one of the best agressive recon like i was in bc2.
What a game
This game is incredible, so many years since ive had fun like this playing a FPS, almost level 90 and probably 70 hours into the game.
I dont see myself putting it down anytime soon either.
