@@wadeyates6737 i cliff wrote the last two lines before his passing. Its already confirmed by the whole metallica band. Those two lines are even carved in cliff’s tombstone.
6:51-7:19 James' solo!!!! One of my fav (really express the sadness about the loss of a friend) Btw.: There are NO STRINGS in this song, these are just guitars with the swelling effects!! And, this is their homage to their dead friend, Cliff Burton
For me... Kirk's guitar (or not) is calling: 5:00 - "we're missing You ...", 5:28 - "we will never forget (about) You", 6:10 - violine sounds (dolphine) - "Why You". You = Cliff. I feel this like that.
This piece is Metallica grieving over the tragic death of their bass player Cliff Burton. They’re expressing their pain, grief, anger, and sorrow. You can hear their feelings through the music. It’s a beautiful tribute. 😥
I don't see a comment pointing it out, so here goes: that 'strings/violin' part is actually the guitars being played with volume swells. It's a fairly common technique I guess, but it sounds epic here.
Metallica is the reason why I love Metal and rock in general and made me expand so far and my favorite are Metallica Black Sabbath Deftones Judas Priest and Metallica will always forever be my favorite no matter how bored and many times i play them❤️
Song goes through the 5 stages of anger .. 1st part of the song is denial ,than it kicks in with the heavy angry tone, bargaining, depression and I believe acceptance part is the slow melodic part
So glad you did this one! Truly one of Metallica's greatest, most emotionally impactful compositions off of what I would say is their best album (despite them essentially muting the bass as a sort of hazing/"you won't replace our brother" message towards Jason Newstead.) I know you've done My Friend of Misery as well (another amazing song!) and that's another instance where the members of Metallica kinda treated Jason like garbage...the song (or perhaps just the bass line, I forget) was originally written by Jason to be used as the melodic instrumental Metallica had been famous for up to that point, having included one on each of their first 4 albums (if you count Anaesthesia (Pulling Teeth)). But they basically shut down that idea.
I love seeing people listen to the music I grew up on and have a great reaction to it!! I recorded a cover of this song I love it!! You should do some PanterA songs they are great also!!
@@jeremyjohnson9222 bass; the only part in the album where you can “actually” hear it; the only time they played it live, Rob did it on bass. Check it out.
@@jeremyjohnson9222 I don´t care what you don´t care, but NO, in studio, it WAS Jason. He used the same effects and pedals that Burton used for the intro of Damage Inc. Was it doubled on guitars? Probably; but the main effect is bass with pedals.
This is a tribute to Cliff, and the lyrics are a poem that Cliff wrote.
actually he got it from a billy graham sermon

The middle part is beautifully sad. My favourite solo by James Hetfield too
Same here
5:55 is why one must call this masterpiece a “composition”, not just a song. Great fucking reaction my man
It's a 30 years old song... timeless for ever... in another 30 years we keep listening... real music never die, it's forever

The emotion in this song is legendary. It just oozes soul.
Every instrumental song by Metallica is a masterpiece. Most inspiring thing is, that they wrote all this shit so young.... it's really impresive
Suicide and redemption is the only instrumental they wrote when they were older and mature, and also is impressive
@@Shiljamannn Massively underrated.

great reaction. keep it up. those r guitars doing volume swells. which gives it a violin like sound.

Any violins or other instruments. Only 2 guitars, a bass and drums.
Actually in the song there are 3 guitars in some parts of it
Wait there is bass??🧐
Volume swell on the guitars, very effective.
Unfortunately they (Lars and James) decided to take off all bass parts)
This song will take you on journey
They broke my rock cherry as well. Courtesy of the cool ass cousin in my family.

Yiur Metallica reactions are the best. Period.
Yeah .. those are volume swells .....live they’re done with the guitar volume knob .. in the studio its done with sliders on the mixing console....
Timeless music... if only they will listen
Check out Metallica - No Leaf Clover and prepare to have your mind blown my brother!!!
Wait until you watch and listen S&M by Metallica, then you will get some strings there lol

It is real a . it starts in the woombe and brings you through birth. You age and you finaly pas away. One of the best songs from Metallica.

The violins part is just a bass increasing and decreasing the volume knob

I was really confused by the title Looool
I would love to hear this song with Danny Carey behind his kit
The “strings” is Hetfield simply using the volume knob on his guitar
Not violins , just volume swells on the guitars
There is no violin or cello in the song. They used a bass guitar for that
Not watched this yet but oh boy I know you gunna like this if you liked suicide and redemption
Sorry for requesting those songs what it do and everyone
This isntrumental seems Cliffless except of middle part.
Not strings.. its a Bass guitar
think mid evil times
