If you have ever had the pleasure of brushing against this plant or rolling one of the flower buds between your fingers, you will quickly understand why it is nicknamed so! The aroma is wonderfully sweet and a true delight to indulge in.
Fortunately for us, this useful little weed grows abundantly in our northern climate and can provide us with good medicine over the long winter months.
Pineapple Weed is closely related to the widely-used (German) Chamomile and has many of the same benefits.

At 10:50, the little 'bits' you describe are the seeds. I take some of the heads that are past their prime and throw them around the edges of my property, helping to spread this beautiful, useful plant. Also, as kids, back in the days when we were 'free-range children', we ate these buds by the ton. No wonder the peace movement happened in the '60s 😂

Just a side note. Fireweed is called that because in fall the leaves turn magnificent colors of red, orange, yellow. When looking across a field of fireweed looks like fire. Pineapple weed is wild chamomile.

It is also the first plant to grow where there has been a fire.

I did't know about it until a few days ago when I had an amazing drink made with pineapple weed syrup. It's too late to find it now but I can't wait to pick some next year and make some syrup.

I've foraged pineapple weed from 20 locations, I've potted it up. I'm going to make tea from it.

All your "weeds" look delicious. I really love wild chamomile. Especially when combined with lemon balm, also safe for infants and in mothers' milk (check the Naturopathic Pediatricians' dosages). I've never seen a plant as tall and lanky as yours. I've been wanting to use it for an edible polyculture lawn replacement. Especially combined with the nettles, plaintains and clovers; I've seen that combination growing wild in very low water lawn-lengthed meadows in California, also with common mallow. I want a dead nettle or some short mint like heal all (esp. around the children) to make a green lawn look (with the wild chamomile, clovers, mallow and plantain) that you just harvest instead of mow, and the pollinators get some extended real estate. And the children can snack on it.

You just described the lawn I want ❤ Here, with -40°C winters and 30°C summers, it's ridiculous to try to have grass lawns - besides all the reasons you gave.

I just discovered you and I'm obsessed! You have such deep knowledge of the plants. I was wondering if you know if it's available in Australia? It's not a plant I was aware of. Do you know if it has any spiritual associations at all? It's stunning.

Awhh schucks. Thank you for the kind words of encouragement! I am not aware of whether it grows in Australia but I will do a little digging and see what I find 💚

@@thegreengoddess4147 thank you! I know it will grow here, I'm just not sure if it is available to buy here. I can't find the seeds or plants at online nurseries in Australia. I feel like I am looking in the wrong places for it, or perhaps it's known under a different name here??? I love my chamomile plants. Have a beautiful day. 😊
