This is one of my favorites of all the boards that you've done, so good to see it again! I'm glad it's alive and well :-)
I just can't believe its been 4 years... I remember watching this video when it came out! XD
This is the board that introduced me to your chanel back then.
Very cool that is held up so well! Awesome board Luke
Incredible work as always! Absolute inspiration!
Jesus, that board is four years old?! I remember that build was the one that really brought me in as a regular viewer of your channel.
Wow, can't believe that it's been almost four years! The board held up so well! Great idea to show the durability of this iconic table. Well done, take care.👍
great to see some lesson learned, cheers :)
10 min video about how good you are, bravo
Rock steady mate
Theose cliffside rocks look really good still man
I remember watching this and amazed at how well it’s stood up to the test of time. It STILL looks a great board😁❤️
0:06 Hopefully the answer is, "More Durable than the passenger-side wing on Josh's car."
Josh's struggles with the board got a solid giggle out of me.
I'm amazed that the grass and trees survived so well.
All the best with your evil-eye, Luke.
hahaha
*_Aha, that's why there was a clip of this board in an MS paint video._*
And now you know ;) haha
Nasty looking eye you got their buddy hope your well ?
Was half dreading you guys would drop it out of the back of the car in the intro, lol.
if you mix pva with plaster and water it is a much stronger than just plaster and water...for those rock moulds ;)
I remember seeing you build this 4 years ago (can't believe it's been 4 years?!) I used your MS polymer technique to make a whole basing scheme for my warhammer army back then.
Just wondering if the fella gets any benefits? You know… being ginger anol.
Loved that board when u made it. AND just picked up mortal gods from Mirfield as well... starting to think you and pickle might be influencing my hobby decisions a little too much 🤔 😅
the stuff i bought with Luke's influence, well spent a lot and learned a lot.
This is my favorite channel, its been a journey i will never forget.
Luke is now The Master of his craft.
Seeing how well they last does make me think about trying my hand on some smaller boards for DnD
Luke!! I’m in the middle of basing my 2300 point forces of nature army for kings of war. I’m using your base ready range, tufts, and Matt scenic sealant. I can’t believe how everything is turning out. I just wanted to say thank you! You opened up this awesome hobby for me and your products give me the confidence to put my stuff on the table top! Keep doing your thing man! Thank you so much!!
Cheers Luke ,
Luv~Luv~Luv .
🐺
Beautiful board and how the channel has progressed since then is amazing dude.
You also answered how you fit a board into a compact car. Answer is you make the board the size that fit your car...
That's badass!! I wanna make a smaller one for some toy photography. GREAT job!!
This was the board that really hooked me on your channel.
I recently used a bunch of your techniques and some of your products on my own terrain, and then took that terrain to a tournament for people to abuse it.
Went over a treat! Everything came back in great condition. This stuff really is extremely durable. You've hit that ideal space where your terrain is beautiful, while still rock solid, and it's not even that expensive.
As always, thanks for all you're doing for our wierd little community of gamers!
Jesus christ was that 4 years ago. Still looks incredible.
One idea I had with the plaster rocks, how about mixing some of the base colour into the plaster? That way the "chipping" would come off as natural erosion/highlighting.
Built to last in Yaarkshire... You create 3-dimensional works of art...sculpture by any other name. An artist, an artisan and an arse'ole! Tripple A rating as ever!
Oi! Blue dental plaster... try and chip that. It *will* add a fair bit o weight to the boards, but it is indestructible when it comes to wargaming. Also, adding some paint to the plaster will make chips pretty much invisible.
Love your builds man. Quality work
I love your scenery work too. Give my regards to Frank.
I tried an experiment a long time ago. I needed to whip up some objective markers for a scifi tournament and because I was out of resin and couldnt be bothered to manufacturing them from scratch I tried brushing some pva into my moulds before pouring in the casting powder. The hope was that they would get a tougher surface so they would survive afew weeks without chipping. So far they have survived well over a decade and been thrown around more times than I can remember.
If youre worried the plaster is gonna chip give the inside of the mould a coat of undiluted PVA before pouring the plaster. Do it while the pva is still wet so the 2 can bond into eachother.
Hilarious opening sequence. I was expecting James may to step into shot...
Does it yellow? No, but it does catch alot of pubes...
Joking aside its still such a nice board.
I'm impressed how well this one held up! The tables at our local gaming shop are really badly banged up. Guess their makers should watch your vids.
Wow that 4yrs has gone quickly
I cant believe i have been watching you this long. I hope you got a whambam for your Jupiter to help get those prints off.
Simple and spectacular. A great example of how the most complicated solution is not always the best.
Christ on a bike, remember you making this and then saw it getting manhandled at salute. Amazed to see it doesn't look like total shite by this point. Fair play
I love this board man! Ancient Greek and all..👌🏻💯
Oh Holy shit. One of the first videos I saw of yours was making that board.
Luv that board
Luv the base ready range
Luv luke
Luv luv luv
Simple as.
Ah, 0 comments... it's like making the first footprints in fresh snow
Everything after the first comment is basically yellow snow
@@paulgibson958 lol
Initially tinting the plaster a neutral tone can help camouflage with chips and bumps
commenting for the alga'
very interested in how things age & break :)
There is a: 404 Not Found, on your distributor link ;)
Damn im early.
The problem is who wants to play on the same terrain over and over again.
Howdo fella? Im very pleased with the 2 parcels that arrived! Dam fast from Shop to my door too!!!!
one question :) what is the green crystal?
waiting for foam to arrive now, then I can crack on.
what on earth have you done to your eye bud?
Great video man. But I hope you're eyes ok dude. Looks sore.
I remember enjoying watching the original video and taking inspiration from it. This is a nice follow-up. My trees haven't fared so well, lol, but my guys are a bit rough.
I remember this board build man this looks great years later
I watched and rewatched this build over the years and I too feel a little nostalgic. Love how this held up!
I really want to make some custom boards once I get a house :)
Hi mate.. where can I get clear fix ?? im in Australia
That was one of my favourite board that you have made. Nice to see it in good nick after all these years. But I guess the better People look after there terrain the long it lasts.
Great to see how the board has held up. I have a little more faith in static grass and plaster now :D
Are you two wearing matching outfits now?
My favorite board of all times!! Hell yeah!!
Luke are you ok? You have a blood in corner of your right eye.
I also remember this board being built, love it
Great to see that board survived still looks great too
It’s awesome to see this gaming board again.
where do i get 10mm sci fi corridors guys ?
This was 4 years ago?! Where does the time go?
Still one of the best looking boards!
This is one of my favorite of the boards you've made, love seeing it again and am pleased to see it just enduring, very nice!
Very cool to see this board back!
Thanks for the video!
I love your evil right eye mate ;)
What's wrong with the eye?
You wearing your PPE Luke?
@@GeekGamingScenics Good to know it's nothing serious.
Woah, that has done really well.
Quality build and a gorgeous board.
Belo trabalho 👏👏👏 Ficou excelente🕶
Nostalgia board !
This is like those videos when people have released animals into the wild and go back years later to see if they still recognize them.
We should have done a clip of the board running up to luke and then them both embracing and laughing and rolling about in the ground
@@ThePickleJar you will however need the rights to something by Rod Stewart to get everyone right in the feels. Could be pricey.
Love love love ❤️
Great watching all your skills Luke. Still hope you make a video about how you came from " don't know shit "
until the, I think, master craftsman you are today.
Heck, I'm not a gamer and i love your videos.
Do dabble in scale modeling so.. I'm learning.. 👍😊
Great video, really useful to hear how things stand up. Can I just ask, when you cleaned the dog hairs and dust off the water, did you just use a damp cloth?
Very reasonable
Great videos. I've just recently gotten back into the hobby end of last year and you have some great tips and ideas.
One of my biggest problems is not knowing anyone local to me, ive yet to play my first game of 40k lol. Any recommendations on where to find local people up who have gaming nights in West Yorkshire? Ideally older people because I'm 35 now 😅
great video!
Awesome stuff
I love Static Grass, but sometimes it does not seem to work so good, Smaller works fine. The taller I can never get it to stand up right! I REMEMBER THIS BUILD I SAVED IT! You inspired me to make one, mines a bit smaller. But YOU SURE HELPED! THANKS LUKE! Any ideas why I can't get the taller grass to work right!! ?? TAKE CARE THANKS FOR WHAT YOU DO!! BE SAFE!
As an ex model railroader, I used hydrocal ( dental ) plaster for my rockfaces. It does stand up to use , but can become quite heavy. I’ve therefore begun to scenic only building bases or points of interest. ( also helps with my storage issues )
Modular is great if you have the requisite room!
awesome
Wonderbar
Wicked ^^
I've been watching your videos for years and still don't understand why you prefer boards rather than modular terrain. No offense. I just want to understand your perspective.
I am familiar with games like mordheim and infinity, full of ruins and covers. this board is almost empty. is it specifically designed for games without strategic positioning and mass combat? how many times can you replay on the same board without getting bored?
: )
Thanks Luke, this video answered my long held doublts about the durability of static grass on wargaming tables.
Right Luke, now break out your 200 lbs battle axe and let's see how the board holds up 😁
In all fairness, the board probably/most likely hasn't been manhandled that badly, for it was their pride and joy as well? Some people can break a full concrete board in 5 minutes flat... 😵
With the water 'cleanliness' .... something occurs to me.... Isoflex Clear Roofing...sealer? comes in paint can type pots, ive used it and know it gets used commonly for sealing larp props etc because its really durable, clear and whatnot. . . could use that as a final coal over the water surface and then to keep larp props non-grippy and clean (and drawable from scabbards without friction etc) we just use standard furniture polish every once in a while...... could be a useful tool ... or even just an alternative. . . . . Always a fan Luke !
Forensicly this takes place at a later point from his crossover with MS paints the eye gives it away! can you SEE what I did there?
This is the build that inspired me to do some similar terrain in 15mm. I'm in the process of doing some modular (600mm squares) terrain for 28mm figures so thought i'd try latexing the trees. Boy does that stuff stink and in a much more unpleasant way than the impact adhesive which I barely notice. A bowl of liquid latex reeks like hot school "plimsols" filled with rotten eggs. However the good thing is the clean up is easy as it just peals off the table when set. :D
Anyone have any idea what the best clearfix substitute in the US is? I've used Lexel but it didn't work quite like the clearfix in the original video
It was and still is a beautiful board.
I’ve watched and learnt so much from the multiple viewings of the original vid. Get it mounted on the wall somewhere at work 👍🏻
Nice to see one of my favourites making a return. Really good to see how well it's holding up. Do you know the maintenance routines the owners went through ?
I love the follow-up videos. The fact that you can come back 4 years later and review your product / creation and give a true reliability update, that is unprecedented. I think you are setting the standard when it comes to honest reviews AND I can see huge improvements / growth over the years. Well done mate!
Mate this board was the first video of yours I watched all that time ago. Amazing to see how far you've come fella.
