I think the main thing I took from this was smoothing the rough bits, I always got so worried about them and then I don't scrape enough away and end up with stuff that looks too soft. Great video mate!
Nice to see you decided to make this video after all :) Great job man, I'll link it on my discord for my patrons, I quite often get asked about exactly what you've talked about here!
This is a perfect video: it's concise and it gets straight to what it sets out to do. Also relevant to me as I picked up some modelling compound for my last board build and am very much in the 'figuring out' stage with it so this was a great resource. Cheers!
Got to say I always think I'm losing too much of the bark details, but seeing how much you covered and it came out even better showed where I was going wrong haha
Love those pieces of bark, light weight and very convincing rocks without having to mess around with rock moulds. My favourite part of any any terrain build is always adding the tufts. Are the ones in the vid new?
Very useful and informative video. I've seen a zillion terrain videos but no one ever seems to actually show you in detail how to work modeling compound.
great video ive been planning a space hulk build, so it will blend tech and nature in certain areas that blend point has been stressing me out but you've reminded me just how easy it will be as long as i do my proper base prep
Not reusing a container that already has left over compound in it is a huge point. I did some rudamentary terrain a while back with it and I was confused why I had my subsequent batches were drying within 2 - 3 minutes. I kept thinking my water to compound mix was off. In the end I battled through it but wish Id known this at the time. If I could make a suggestion that this tip about cleaning your mixing container between batches or using a fresh one be printed on the bags of compound along with the mixing instructions, that'd be a real big help!
Nice relaxing video Luke. you make it look simple, but we all know that with anything less than geek gaming scenics products, getting those results would be an absolute nightmare :)
Nice video Luke, very handy tips from this indeed. Sometimes less is more and mastering the basics can prove more useful than trying to pick up more complex skills. ^^
Great to be back to terrain builds and practical hands-on tutes - Good riddance to the "paint a mini" thing/aberration that happened. Wonderful to see the channel back to its core with a focus on using your products and tips and tricks on the terrain side. Nice one.
Hey Luke! Quick question about the sealant spray. My spray is brand new but it does not spray in a cone like yours. Mine comes out a solid line which means i use way too much on bases. Is there a way to make it hose more instead of a solid line?

I'd love to order a terrain makers starter kit. Some small sizes of base ready, flock, and compound as a kickin off point.

Love this kinda video from you guys, never quit these please.
Now i need to check to see if people skip this on my stuff too. 'Nah, i'll just use polyfilla. My board needs to weigh 83kgs'
Loved this format, much easier to understand for me and I can apply this myself
Happy new year and good to see you getting back to the basics - Gaming Scenics. Look forward to what you have coming up.

Excellent video, short and to the key points without a lot of yap, while making it seem easier for the newcomer, thank you.😎👍
Modelling compound is the shizz :) Get that Tuna Mayo consistency out.
Tuna Mayo to fight over
Beats cottage cheese hands down
Crazy good! These are the videos I groove on!
This video came at the perfect time for me! Thank you heaps 🙂
Massive Docks?! I’m in!
Never completly got my head round this bit. Great to be stepped through the process.
Great job thanks for the tips!!!
What is in modelling compound again? Is it plaster and paper fiber?

Ah The Little things! Great Info!!! Thank You!

What color wash did you use at 7:38?

A very good back-to-basics tutorial.
Gr8 video luke, it seems a lifetime ago since i saw you make your first tree 🌳😊
What are you using for sealing? Glue with water?
I still need to try modeling compound. Fred Aldous is always sold out
Amazing job and happy new year to you all 👍👍🥃🥃
If I wanted to tint the compound incase any breaks off, howuch would I need per batch
Great work👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nice video!

Luke, what do you use to seal the model?
Hi Lucas. It's cool as always.
Feels like the old Luke’s back 👍
Liked this video a lot!
You make it look so easy
Great tips as always. I need to get my hands on some of your products. In bulk.
All great and useful tips, especially with my 2023 WIPs of 135 scale WW2 tank dioramas.
Thanks
good vid on the channel thanks lee
i'm thinking about making a warhammer 40k Factoryworld gameboard any suggestions what to use best?
Thanks mate,
However I'll still prefer cement/concrete. To each it's own. Cheers 😊
How hard is modeling compound? Thanks
Once dry it’s very hard.
Yum, looks like tuna fish!
Cheers , Luke .

Yes you do, you do have an eye for it.
And if you truly believe that you don't, go look at rocks.
No matter where you live, you have rocks.
luv luv luv ❤
Ahh.. Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance, and no one appreciates the amount of work that goes into the prep.
Frostgrave Ghost Archipelago )))
I know two girls who only needed one cup.
9:35 minutes where 1 minute 30 seconds is a advert...I mean...cmon
Just reevaluate if that fits to the length of a video next time please...
Just skip the ad? If it helps fund the channel…it’s not hard to just move past. Rather have ads and videos than no ads and no videos.
It feels like the whole video is an ad...
