Nice review Matt Moron. 👌
Just waiting for a TRD MANUAL M/T version of this cool looking car
Would have been a cool retro marketing pitch, if Toyota would have taken this platform but more different styling, and just named it the Celica. But beafing up the Supra in hp to justify having three sports cars.
Supra is a great car dont get me wrong, BUT for that price range I'd much rather have a Corvette, M3, S4, or even a Ford RS and they're all cheaper i feel because of sharing parts with BMW i don't feel toyota came up with the price i cant wrap my head around a 43k Toyota
Putting a 4 cylinder in a Supra is like ford putting their 4 cylinder in the Mustang. They were always known for the inline 6 just like the V8 in the Mustang. I mean they already went the wrong route by putting a BMW motor in what was supposed to be a Japanese car lol they just made it worst.
There were 4 banger jgtc mk4s. Practically there doing the same thing with the mk5. Better balance less nose hwavy, saves weight.
And I’m sure the reliability and service costs will be great
Remember how the Mustang debuted with a 6 cylinder? Didn’t think so.
That 4 banger should have put it on 86! Rip 86!!!!
The perfect car for your side mistress!
I know it's not a normal supra but I think Toyota should make a convertible version. I mean the MR2 isn't coming back so they could market the supra with a convertible option
A very good video.
But save your money and buy a 4cy.turbo ecoboost premium and with a few mods. That don't cost to much you can be putting out major.. HP...
.
The 3.0 just seems ridiculous for daily driving. It’s BONKERS fast.
Get one, run it hard under warranty, if anything breaks get it fixed. Once warranty expires and it's payed off, swap the motor.
Used limited low mileage BRZ. 20k, manual, balanced low speed drifts, lighter, more fun. This Zupra is a rip off.
The boxer engine is crap. Ask anyone
@@beexiong2995 It's not about the engine, it's about corners, body dynamics, and tossability at low speeds. No one buys 86/BRZ for an engine. That was one of the tradeoffs apart from it being low and horizontally opposed. It is crap.
@@xFlared what about a dead engine? Ask me why
@@beexiong2995 stock the boxer def is ass, but tuned with headers its pretty nice.
@@xXxUrbanNinjaxXx i had an frs with an UEL tuned on e85. 14.1 1/4 mile on stock everything else. Not bad but my brothers stock g37 beat me thoroughly. These cars arent fast by any stretch. Boost is the only way and even at that it wouldnt be reliable
People complaining about a 255 hp 4 cylinder Supra that does 0-60 in 5.0 seconds for $43,000 when the 1998 Twin Turbo 6-cylinder Supra with 320 hp did 0-60 in the 4.6 to 4.9 range and cost almost $41,000 22 years ago - in 2020 dollars thats $64,000. I don't care what the advertised horsepower is as long as the car performs and feels like a sports car should.
for 45k i can see myself getting many other 6cyl coupes... so, NEEXXXTTTT!!!
You can get V8 power for less than that price in the Camaro and Mustang. The Camaro SS with the 1LE package is around $45,000 and it's one of the best sports cars on the market right now, able to compete on a road course with cars costing many $10's of thousands of dollars more.
@Daniel Scott
"Better" in what way? Engineering is an exercise in compromises. There is rarely one solution that clearly outweighs all the others for all criteria. If inline 6s were better than V8s, then why doesn't every car have one? Which is not to say inline 6s aren't great engines in their own way, as are V8s. I own both an inline 6 powered car (Datsun 240Z and a V8 powered car (Camaro SS 1LE) and I have great respect for both powertrains.
what do you drive?
If this were around the early 30k price point it is worth it but they have the 86 Hakone inching into this price area
So $43,000 for the base Supra 2.0, $3,500 more if you want the safety/tech kit. Still nearing about $50,000 after all the fees and destination charges.
Toyota missed the point of even bringing this out as it is almost expensive as the bother.
4 speaker vs 12 speaker ??? I really need to know is the 4 speakers enough. I don't want to take out any loans but if I must it will be 3.0 if difference is just 8k but if 4 speakers is sufficient, the 2.0 will do.
I can get over the fake vents but; fake engine noise thru the audio system!!!
Great car still needs a manual ..
Blake Marchand yeah tbh at that price I'd definitely look at a c7, and for the price of the 3.0 id definitely look at the c8
Sure its a great car at a redonculous price. It should be 30k starting.
Matt has the wind buffeting been adressed?
Unfortunately not, but it’s mostly fixed with a $10 part off Amazon.
2 questions... how does it compare to the genesis 2.0t coupe? remember hyundai did a couple awesome coupes one w the 3.6 v6... and also how does it compare to a camaro/ats 2.0t, ecoboost, etc.
I discuss how it compares later in the video.
Too expensive for 255 HP 🥱
same motor in 3 series can reached $60k, whats your point?
I guarantee that is underrated just like the 3.0 I'm guessing more like 300
@@tinhinnh my point is with that money you can get a used camaro ZL1 with 650 HP 😅
@@germanfranco1991 key word USED LOL
@@germanfranco1991 Plus camaros dont look nearly as nice as the Supra
Just wait for the Mazda3 2.5T coming guys. Probably slower than the Supra 2.0 but its AWD and probably be around 30k.
A loaded Mazda3 AWD without a turbo is already 30k lol.
What kind of stupid comparison is that?
Might as well get a civic type r for that price
Subaru wrx fan here
Type R
Way too expensive, considering I can get a decently optioned mustang gt for the same price
Valerie Papotto maybe even cheaper for GT
He said "same motor you get in the 3 series" what the hell is he talking about? He said that around the 13 minute mark.
its nice people have a choice
There should be a much bigger difference than $8k between the 3.0 and the 2.0. The 3.0 is much better which makes the 2.0 overpriced.
Any chance this undermines the next gen 86 or vice versa? Especially if the 86 gets a power bump?
I think they're hoping this fills that market...but it won't, because it's like 2x the price.
I think because this car exists, the GR86 probably won't get a turbo. But I could be wrong.
Still way too expensive for a 2.0 L turbo. I would pay the 6k difference and go for the 6 cylinders if I was to spend that much money.
Toyota sales like Ford has taken such a serious fall that Toyota is extending their )% for five months to average credit and ford is giving back up to 10,500 on their trucks, times are very bad for manufacturers as people are worried about food and rent etc. There are MAJOR deals happening NOW!
I really like that sound. Dare I say it’s better than the 3.0? Hmm
Lol wtf
Definitely not.
