@@Ladybruja0894 Amanda Somerville (the blondine backing vocalist) is her name.
Amanda’s husband (Sander Gommans, who’s known from After Forever) is also the music teacher of singer-songwriter Ruurd Woltring, who collaborated with EPICA on the single “Forevermore”.
Mark Jansen (the rhythm guitarist and growling vocalist EPICA) and Floor Jansen (from Nightwish and formerly from Nightwish) used to be in After Forever as well.
She has sung with avantasia, kamelot and other bands as well
I love this studio session. "phantom agony" from the same captation is incredible too ;).

Oh man, I remember when this first came on TV (The Box for all my Dutchies 🇳🇱). I was so in awe of Simone’s voice, the strings and choir! I became a lover of Symphonic Metal because of them, Nightwish and Within Temptation 🖤

Apparently Simone was in pop vocal training until she heard Nightwish (with Tarja) and then switched to classical.

I remember when she trained piano, she tried to play this song
Linda van Summeren,( wife of the keyobard player) Bridget fogle, Georgina Chakos, Leigh Adoff (the blonde one next to Amanda) and Amanda somerville are the backing singers, Amanda is a famous vocal coach in the EU, lots of singers went to her for vocal lessons and techniques, Floor jansen ( After Forever Nightwish ) Simone simmons ( epica ) and many others.

A bit of deliberate irony: the song incorporates motifs from Handal's "Messiah", but is a pointedly anti-organized-religion song. Many of the symphonic metal bands are strong advocates for rationality vs. religiosity (Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica for sure). While Simone's voice is still just developing here, this is probably my favorite track by them on youtube. Shout out to RockerNL--he/she has great taste!

They wrote this song about the Catholic Church and condemnation of the pedophiles who have been part of Catholicism. Also considering Simone was 18 at the time it was very controversial
18 is adult in many countries. That includes The Netherlands.

True 18 is an adult but I think the controversy was fueled by people thinking that someone so young didn’t have the right to say anything about a religious organization

Hi family ... Well if someone says Epica and I hear then I immediately have to think of the mera luna concert or Wacken Open Air both in Germany. Ok Ok first of all I have to think of my goddess Simone Simons, sorry it's just the way it is. But I also want to recommend Epica & Floor Jansen - Sancta Terra Live, I was there, I was in heaven with my goddesses and ready to do anything to stay there. Great reaction to a greta song. I think you may try Angtoria's "God Has a plan For us All" which goes in the same line, you may like it. Furthermore, you may react to "Illusive Consensus" from this same Epica's dvd, which is a beautiful and symphonic song from the old repertoire of the band. Simply beautiful

this is one of their best songs imo.. but you would have gotten a better experience watching the live version from 2013 retrospect concert, were also the drummer put up an heck of a drumsolo i think you would love.
For these old sessions, you should choose videos not on the official Epica channel, because the ones on the official channel have bad audio quality. Other people have uploaded these exact videos with better audio quality.

I love Epica but I don’t care much for their first album the phantom agony including this track.....I just can’t get into it ...............apart from Sensorium....this track is one of my favourites and was stoked I got to see them play it live. They played this at retrospect....it would be great if you could react to it 🙏🏻

Simone is a fabulous singer, she comes right after Floor. If you love both, you have to love both bands too. It´s a Epic(a) Nightwish.
