    Hi Michelle! I had fallen off the wagon in keeping up in watching your amazingly informative videos due to my own lowered morale in teaching and slow burnout. But I’m back again and hoping you’re doing well settling in your new home with hubby. So proud of you how you took control of your career and adjusted accordingly. Wish you continued success and growth! Thank you for always sharing new content. I always learn so much, especially with the digital programs.

    Love this! When you posted your tips on cleaning out your Google Drive video a couple of years back, I took the entire summer to clean and organize my hot mess express Google Drive little by little each day. I colored coded and numbered because like you, I want things in a specific order since I am so type A. While I have everything organized by unit and then within the units have the different parts of the unit broken down, I have never organized those folders even further by homework, activities etc. This video inspired me to do just that this coming week since I am on vacation for winter break. Organizing brings me joy and so do your organizing videos. Thank you for once again teaching me something new! I can't wait for next week! (PS. I submitted an organizational problem to your website! I can't WAIT for that series!)

    I LOVE organization, so this was right up my alley. I feel like my digital files are much better than my filing cabinet at school. I use Google Drive for personal files and Microsoft One Drive for school since our whole county uses the Office suite of products. I really enjoyed the tips in this video and will use it to clean up the digital files and keep them in shape! I would love to see a video about paper file organization, as you mentioned. It will definitely be a big project for me that I will need to break down into smaller tasks. I have been at my current school for five years, but I taught a split class for second and third grade my first year here and had an abundance of files! Thanks for an amazing video, as always! I really needed some solid advice after a crazy Valentine's Day week at school! Thanks, Michelle! 💗

    In case no one has mentioned it - you can actually scan a physical paper document straight into your Google Drive. That works with Android or Apple and takes out the steps of having to move it where you want it within your Drive folders ;)

    Love your videos! Do you have a suggestion for all the "stuff" that ended up in my drive from having to share and co-teach during Covid teaching? I have tons and tons of assignments because we had to make each other on the team co-teachers. Every google assignment my co-worker assigned shows up in my drive. I think he should have archived these classes and that would have helped but I'm not sure. Many thanks!

    Thank you so much! Some great ideas! I also use file names that automatically alphabetize in Unit order. I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and PreCalc. So every file starts with A1, A2, or PC, then U and the unit number. So for my fifth precalc unit, all files would start with PCU5, then the lesson number that the different files are associated with. So the notes file for the third lesson that I taught on Friday is labeled PCU5 N03 Ambiguous Case. This also helps my students find the files that I share with them and associate them with particular lessons on the calendar. I definitely use unit and course folders, so hopefully everything within the same folder has the same initial file name…

    Hi Michelle. Yes a paper organisation would be lovely to watch. A question on digital organisation: I have just begun teaching and have collected several (a few hundred or so eek😮) resources over my student teaching years for several grades and subjects. I don’t want to delete all of these as they might come in handy as I start planning my units this year and for if I switch grade levels. So my question then is would you keep these in a totally seperate folder or try and put it within units? Some resources are from tpt and cover multiple grades or are a 2-3 different units bundled together. Looking forward to hearing from you and thanks again for all the great advice B❤

Thanks Michelle!

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  Год назад

      Aww, thank you for watching and commenting Kim! I'm so happy it was helpful for you! The student assignments generated from making copies in Google Classroom should automatically be placed in a "Classroom" folder within your Google Drive. If they are appearing in your main Drive, that means you probably accidentally deleted the "Classroom" folder.

    So, I am organizing things and I’m running into the Teacher’s Guilt of “what if I need it some day?” I realize that during the “panorama”, I was a new teacher and so many kind and generous teachers on social media and at work shared freebies to help us all survive Distance Learning. I have so many files now , but I’m hesitant to get rid of anything because I am low key digital hoarder? Lol. How would you go about navigating that and purging your Google Drive?

    • @PocketfulofPrimary
      @PocketfulofPrimary  Год назад

      I totally understand that mindset and I have struggled with that as well! One thing you could try is putting all the files into a main folder and as you actually use them, you can organize them into a subject folder or unit folder. Then, at the end of the year, any files left in the main folder that haven't been moved can be trashed. At the end of the day, those files just create clutter that is unnecessary just like clutter we have around our house or clothes in our closet that we aren't wearing. Hopefully that's helpful for you!
