- Mr. Yoshihiro Arita and his band play the Dragon Roost Island theme from Zelda: Wind Waker (GCN). This is a clip from the "Mario & Zelda Big Band Live" concert, which was held on September 14th, 2003. The whole concert (almost 2 hours long) can be found here:

This is still the best adaptation of this piece. There's such intense emotion in every note of it. I used to listen to both the original and this live performance on repeat for hours while studying in college 15 years ago. I'd often end up in tears. And I still do.
There’s a certain feeling about soundtracks in older games that is just pure gold and hit right in the feels. These days we don’t get good music no more.

Mandolin harmony line from 1:06 is perfect. Really a spectacular arrangement. True to source & tone but offering a whole load of new emotions. Brilliant, one of my favourites.

92? Lol. Well I have you all beat! 1987 here. Hearing this brings back memories. This Zelda wasn't my favorite but it had some of the best music. I think Ocarina will be my all-time favorite

20 years after this was originally posted, and I still come back to this song. I played it through high school, through college, through grad school, and now as a full fledged adult doing adulting things. It's provided me the escapism and euphoria I've needed, regardless if I was studying for a test or burning the midnight oil on a work related project. This piece truly proves that music has the immense power to transcend both time and space. Thank you for keeping it alive for new generations to enjoy on RUclips.

Band of legends, the best VGM playing ensemble I've heard. The violinist plays incredibly lyrically, Arita and the dude with the Punk Is Dead shirt do great solos, and the bassist really is a force to be reckoned with.

Running on a huge plain of grass with mountains all around the place and a waterfall sound at the horizon. Then you realise that someone important is on top of the hill so you run as fast as you can to join with that person. All this under a huge blue sky. That's what I'm seeing right now.
