The thing about Sunlight Blade is that it does lightning damage. Lightning defense is far less prominent than magic or fire defense. Most sheilds have very little lightning defense, for example.
Also, things like Great Magic Barrier completely negate magic buffs.
The truth has been spoken.
***** PvE CMW is the best. You have 3 buffs so you can use 2 buffs to clear a level and one for the boss. or how ever you plan it out.
InferiorGaming Agreed. INT/DEX build with CMW is one of the most effective builds you can get. For PvE FAI build SLB is better because it's stronger than DMB until you rank up in Darkmoon Covenant (80 fucking Souvenirs of Reprisal on PvE build). The only downside to SLB is Gwyn as he's resistant to lightining. But we all know you can riposte the shit out of him.
@@InferiorGaming its sad that in ds3 they nerfed all 3 buffs,
now at 60 intellegences and faith we only get an abyssal 105 damage extra
Bruh no one uses great magic barrier. Or atleast i have never seen it used in pvp.
DMB is tempting, but gwyndolin doesn't praise the sun and I feel only invading indicted players will put me up against many hackers.
Stack this buffs with power within and red tearstone ring that would be fun to use really
Very informative! I've always favored CMW, but was tempted to try for DMB, because I saw the amount of damage that could be done with it. This video has shown me great points as to why my first choice was the one I'm going to stick with. Thank you so much! Saved me lots of time!
Sunlight blade is by far the best, you dont have to be on the covenant to use, and it gives you lightning damage, which is almost always deal more damage than magic due to the armors and shield resistances
Usually the SLB makes more damage than CMW because armors tend to have better magic resistances than lightning ones.
Also, I really like how SLB looks.
(DMB is the coolest looking though, but as a Dickwraith I cant use it xD)
You can join the dickwraiths, get their full orb, then go over to the darkmoon covenant and get DMB. Now you get to be a red phantom with DMB.
emilkon Is not like that, but im doing right now the most similar thing you can do.
Because if you leave the Darkmoon covenant you cant use DMB, so what I do is I buy a lot of Cracked Red Eye Orbs and the join or re-join the Darkmoons.
Nesode BlackKnight You can use the whole red eye orb as a darkmoon, I think. So just do that.
emilkon nope.jpg
Justin Wentz Actualy, you can. There is no covenant restriction for the red eye orb. So even darkmoon covenant members can invade as red phantoms.
When I usually battle it out in Darkroot Garden, I throw on CMW on my +15 Halberd pierced very durable enemies for about 890 damage per thrust. But thanks to your video, I can try and make those thrusts even more lethal :D
Add Leo Ring to that and you're basically landing hornet-ringed backstabs and ripostes per strike.
I got really interested in buffs on my first NG+. They make dangerous weapons just even more so, yet can't really help anyone that can't land a hit. A useful tactic for any Souls player.
hello there
True men buff using Charcoal Pine Resins because they make your weapon look swag as hell.
Well, not really. The best weapon buff in terms of pure statistics alone is obviously DMB, but the fact that you have to be in the covenant sucks seeing that the covenant is pretty inactive compared to the other fun ones like forest. I'll still take SLB over DMB any day.
.. other sorceries/miracles was not the best thing to do in this video. But maybe it helped someone decide on what they are going to use. And i used PvP clips to talk about the buff: but this was because it showed no spoilers to someone who was new to the game, and for those who are not new to the game something different from boss kills because they are almost all the same. Oh almost forgot i did NOT say "I like CMW best cause i like INT best" please watch 5:05
not to mention people generally have lower lightning resist then magic
Yes, that's what I meant by INT being better for hybrid builds. If you're taking Faith or INT to 50, Faith tends to be the better option. If you aren't taking Faith or INT past the 30-range, stick with 32 INT and the Tin Crystallization Catalyst.
You only get one DMB cast, but I typically use a slot for DMB and a slot for SLB in case I have more than one consecutive fight, such as fighting a phantom and then fighting the host.
I also love miracles like Great Magic Barrier. Shuts down mages.
It really depends on your build, if you're an int build you're probably not gonna be using SNB or DMB and if you're a faith build you're probably not gonna be using CMW.
He tryin to discover the best... obvy you cant use CMW on a faith build DEEERD
I see your point in the 3 comments above. I would think that most of the people looking up to see which Buff is best would be kind of new to the game or maybe looking to see what can help them out if they are having trouble in the game. I also never said this was based on PvE or PvP. i say overall best. not PvP or PvE best. I do see where I kind of went wrong on using a player not a NPC. But a player is nice enough to not move and take the same hit over and over. Also maybe talking about...
So Crystal Weapon seems to give the highest boost at high int but very low boost at low int.
Crystal magic weapon also has the most cast of all 3, that if you bring 2 of them, you can cast 3 times as compare to 2 for other buff.
Also you can only ever get one Dark Moon, and it stucks you in a covenant too :/
When I did the math, Faith buffs always came on top and the TCC weighs a bit more than a talisman. At 32 in, the TCC has an adj of 254 X 1.4 (CMW) = 355.6. At 32 Faith and full rank in the Darkmoon blade and with the canvas talisman you have 175 X (2.1) = 367. I know you only get one DMB but this is balanced since the TCC weighs more than a talisman. INT buffs are best at low levels with the Oolacile catalyst and GMW. Also at 25 int the Oolacile out adjusts the Sorcerer catalyst.
Neat
You need to also include the damage buff increase from rings that boosts miracles and the ring that boost sorcerers (rosf and bdr)
those rings will not add damage to weapons buffs, sadly
Only red tearstone ring, leo ring and hornet can buff damage to those buffs.
What’s the best weapon for Crystal magic weapon
What ever weapon you pick. The damage scales off of your int level not your weapon
I don't know... But i think that the Cristal weapon can be combined with the two dragon crest rings to make more damage / duration of the spell... But I never tried... And the two miracles ( SLB and DMB) can be improved too with the 2 sun rings...
two rings of the same type don't stack. Otherwise you'd see everyone with two FAP rings on at all time.
Darkmoon blade the best of them
At 50 Faith, Sunlight Blade adds 406 lightning damage, which is on par with Crystal Magic Weapon at 50 INT (411 magic damage). It's not accurate to claim that Faith buffs are only useful if you have a high rank in the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant. INT buffs are only superior if you are limiting your magic damage stat to 32 and use the Tin Crystallization Catalyst.
Helpful not about the sunlight blade, it does lightning damage buff instead of magic, so depending on who you're fighting, it might be better or worse than the other two.
One thing I gotta ask, is great magic weapon a good alternative for a faith build? (Using Darkmoon Tin) if you kill Gwyndolyn for Sunlight blade you lose access to darkmoon blade. And while sunlight blade is really good if I fight an enemy that's resistant to lightning it might fall off. Although lightning resistance is rare.
That is a good question. I am not sure :(
Regarding Vow of Silence, I was thinking about people who spam Dark Magic, and there are a lot that do. Those builds that so many complain about are helpless against Vow of Silence.
Great Magic Barrier defends against most magic damage, and this includes through magic damage with weapons. If you are fighting against someone using a weapon like the Moonlight Greatsword, they might as well be using a broken sword hilt if you have used Great Magic Barrier.
Very useful and well done. Helped me refine my build even more!
But honestly, visually, CMW is the lamest...
Darkmoon the coolest, and SLB is cool too.
What happens when i have a +15 Light. Balder Side Sword and used the Sunlight Blade. Would the damage be higher?
And has a 50 faith
Fast rolling can also shut down magic users. IMO Miracles are more for Defense not doing damage. If you are in giants/ganking or not fast rolling yeah I could see why you might lean towards Vow of Silence or GMB.
Next time could you show the damage through "typical defenses". Sunlight blade does lighting damage which is the hardest to resist.
And if you have DMB but don't ranked in the covenant, it is going to be better than SLB?
Check the chart at 2:58
I don't think you can even use it if you are not in it.
@@InferiorGaming yeah like, i have the DMB buff and I can use it, but I don't ranked in the covenant to make it stronger, my covenant is in +0
@@Guttins No idea, I thought you have to be +1 to even get it.
@@InferiorGaming you do need +1 to get it, but I leaved the covenant and entered again, so my rank now is +0 but I still can use the DMB buff
i prefer slb over dmb you aren't required to be in that covenant to use slb and it hard to block a lightning buff versus a magic buff besides i like how slb looks over dmb
I wouldn't just throw out SLB because i also depends on the armor that the opponent has, if an opponent has full havel's, I've tested it out, SLB does the most damage since the havel's set doesn't have so much resistance towards lighting damage, if anything if you were a faith + x build i would carry both DMB and SLB for different scenarios, if int + x then CMW with tin crystallization or manus cat for maximum damage
Is Crystal Magic Weapon better than Darkmoon Blade if u are also using Power Within ?
If you're rank 3 in darkmoon cov and at 50 faith with dark talisman...no
Unless you're saying that you would only use powerwithin with cmw then yes
HelloKittySmack YouAround Yes Im using CMW and Power Within
the devs made amistake by making the buffs so crazy strong. it's cool to buff, but this is just ridiculous.
On the bright side dmb and slb have only one use :D
What I got out of this video: "I like CMW best cause I like INT best.". You show a graph and do your comparisons but end up deciding completely based on the fact that you prefer Int spells.
Faith has more utility and defensive spells while Int goes for utility/offense and yes, you can just dodge magic which makes the faith defense useless, but guess what...that argument also makes offensive sorceries useless since they can be dodged. So all you're left with is utility miracles and sorceries...
...and in respect to those, the utility sorceries are mostly gimmicks like invisibility and camouflage which might trick bad players but are useless against slightly experienced ones. Faith however has gimmicky stuff (TWOP) but more importantly some useful spells like Force (one of the most poise-breaking spells and very good utlity for defense or setting up combos). Lets still claim Int and Faith spells are equally useful, then it all comes down to the weaponbuffs again.
sunlight blade you can get 3 uses of it
Slb is nest because it is harder to block lightning than magic
Crystal Magic Weapon is better for hybrid builds if you're putting 32 points into your secondary damage stat (INT or Faith), but that benefit drops considerably with less than 32 INT and the Tin Crystallization Catalyst.
If we're talking 50 INT or Faith in a PVP build, Faith is the better option.
Also, how in the hell can you completely overlook Miracles like Vow of Silence or Great Magic Barrier, which can pretty much shut down magic users? Your analysis seems very INT slanted.
And as far as weaponbuffs go DMB vastly outdamages CMW at any given point while SLB deals about the same base damage as CMW but is way harder to resist. All in all unless you're simply being biased CMW is the weakest out of the three. Against any enemy thats not naked it will deal the lest damage and Sorceries are on par with or lightly less useful than Miracles.
I use magic weapon bc you can get ten and it scales with int
then how come oroboro says that CMW is trash you need dark moon blade i feel like they equal amounts of damage
At 32 INT with the Tin Crystallization Catalyst, CMW does roughly equal damage to 30 FAI DMB w/ Canvas Talisman, *BUT* the TCC is 2.2 units heavier than the Canvas Talisman (which is a measly .3), and going Faith also gives you access to Wrath of the Gods and Great Magic Barrier, which are more useful than sorceries if you're going for a buff build.
I hate Darkmoon invaders. They're just high level players who want an advantage over SL120 PVPers. They expect you to let them buff with DMB and then when it runs out SLB and if you backstab then during their buff they use DBs.
No one likes hidden weapon!
DMB
Lol darkmoon invaders are so OP
Hey make one for dark souls 3
+Brandon Willis Just bought Dark Souls 3 today. i'll do my best to make one

+Inferior Gaming yeah you did get a bunch of souls lol
Thanks for your hard work
Your videos are great
Keep it up!
@@littlepoodle7443 No. I was to busy to ever make it for dark souls 3
Because you clearly need that to win
wow, this is the most backwards comparison i've ever seen. Says "best weapon buff" in the title and bases his 1st place choice off of whether int has better other spells than faith....wtf? -__- Not to mention the statistical logic for choosing it is false too, it does second in damage ONLY if you use TCC which get's rid of the "3 minutes of casting time" that you used as a pro of this buff, and if you don't use TCC it comes in last in damage so the 3 casts is pointless. Lastly and probably the most ridiculous is that every armor in the game except 2 iirc have higher magic resist than lightning resistance, so Sunlight Blade will almost always do more damage against a real armored pvp opponent, and shields usually have higher magic than lightning resist as well. Testing elemental buffs on unarmored opponents when armor determines 99% of elemental resistance in most cases is completely pointless, no offense, but it is.
That is why u carry all of them and pvp at high soul level :D It would be like going to a gym in pokemon with all fire or a fire a grass a lightning a ground etc.
