Being in psychosis is genuinely terrifying, if you’re aware of it. I remember hearing voices of my friends in rooms right next to me, talking about me and I would walk into the room to find no one there. I even heard someone say “oh shit, I think he found the camera” and I thought there was a camera hidden somewhere, even though I was home alone. I had to keep telling myself that I’m just going crazy and it’s not real. Things only changed after I did. Dropped liquor and drugs entirely and had to move in with my brother to really heal and get over the insane mental state I was in. I eventually stopped hearing voices and stopped feeling so hopeless all the time. Thing that sucks is, I let it affect my relationships with people I cared about and I just hope I can mend it, eventually. It sucks when you’re basically losing your mind. Especially when you quit cold turkey, you have really surreal dreams that make you question what’s real and what’s not. I’m proud of $crim, it’s really hard to accept that your choices are what’s making your mental state worse, in order to take those steps towards be better.

Funny thing is, they were prescribed to me and everything, I didn’t even abuse them (took the correct dose and everything), but I also wasn’t getting sleep because I would stay up all night drinking, then sleep like an hour before work. I didn’t even think it was that bad, until I started hearing things and couldn’t ignore it. I think that’s how it starts with most people, probably.
