I saw a guy fall off a roof and die instantly. We were less than a foot apart working and he fell only 11 feet, landed on his head. I got down to help as quickly as I could, but it was obviously too late. His eyes were open and looking in completely different directions. I didn’t think it effected me much, but I brought flowers to the site the same night, by myself, and I lost it. Cried like a baby. I didn’t even know the guy.
This is so true. I am so sick of podcasts with comedians circlejerking themselves to completion. We gave them an inch and they’ve taken a mile. Can’t stand Bert or Tom anymore because of this. We created monsters.
when my mother died the coroner was at her house and when he saw me he freaked out bc I looked so much like her..🖤 you never get over losing your mom..
Ah man I know exactly what y'all mean, I fucking love this guy. Dope energy. I came to the comments to make this point I'm so fucking glad other people felt it too. ❤🔥
I found my youth basketball coach dead when I was 11 years old. We were having practice when our coach went missing for a little while. No one thought anything of it until I went to use the restroom and found him dead on the floor. Heart attack, poor guy died on the bathroom floor alone. I'm 29 now but I think about him everyday, he was a good man. RIP Woody Anderson Sr.
Rip man. You alright with that? Seems noone has asked you that since your initial comment. You'll be okay man. Don't get hung up on it. It can be tough, but everyone dies. Some sooner than others. Know yourself. Know whether you should identify a body or not. That's just not for some people. Wish you the best. If it bothers you, just let it pass. You can't fight it. Let it pass and gain control from it
My dad was sedated for almost a month & I’ll never forget after he passed the immediate difference in energy shift in the room. You can tell when it’s just a body and the soul isn’t there anymore 😢
Gotta go a whole lot darker to crack anyone working in that trade! In saying that, full respect and thankyou to all those in the death industry. It takes someone pretty special to do a much needed and what would be an extremely tough job.
My first traumatic death call as a firefighter was for a guy who was working on his truck in his yard and it had fallen off the jack and pinched him in half at the sternum like a tube of toothpaste. I could deal with with graphic scenes, but the unbelievably deafening wailing from the wife and kids who came home to find him fucked me up for a good bit. I still hear them sometimes at night. Can also confirm that cats will begin to eat you not long after you die.
18 years on the Fire dept here. I've seen some crazy stuff. Industrial explosions, plane crashes, wrecks, shooting etc. I work in a pretty busy city. Hope you are well fellow brother.
Here in England, there was a TV program about medical incidents. One of which was a man had had a heart attack and an ambulance had attended. He was put in the back on a stretcher with no pulse, despite resuscitation attempts. Another ambulance sped up the road and hit the back of the first ambulance....... This impact restarted the man's heart, and he lived on. Weird or what?
Amazing to see that whenever Theo asks the most random questions he gets a ‘yeah..one time there was this..’ must be totally new for Theo. This feels like the coroner is like an older cousin and theo is asking stuff he did not know he would not want to have answered. Great stuff hombres
I absolutely love anyone who is so unapologetically himself, so passionate, neurotic almost geeky about the subject but yet able to see the fun side of it, doesn't take himself too seriously and seemingly cannot be fazed by anything ❤️👌
And he got jokes too. Hard to keep up with Theos thoughts and questions. Dude said “ now you got a lot of question when a lazy person find a body” That was quick and funny.
Very clearly a solid dude. I wonder if he's got a plan for the likely ways he might die and how to best be found. Maybe there are coroner jokes and he'd use his last few seconds to set one up.
My cousin was 2.5 years old.. 11 years ago he was Burnt to death in my uncles shop. There was a painting booth and he got in there and found strike matches and it went up. Didn't know he was even in there you can push handle open to get in cause it's a different type of handle on outside but inside was a normal round door know. The heat got so hot so fast because of the paints and printers in the shop it went up like gasoline. The fire marshal and coroner's said he had.bad burns on his hands. He was trying to open the round door know but it was so hit it was burning him he couldn't open it. At the funeral, was the smallest casket I've ever seen in person. Makes me cry again just thinking about. Breaks my thinking how scared he was and how bad of a passing that was. They said the smoke got to him 100% before so he was dead before he got burned. Only thing that makes me feel even .00005% about this.
As a caregiver that last part really hit home. We are taught that if you ever get “used” to the process of a patient dying, then you need to get into another profession. You cannot convey empathy to the family during the grieving process if you are already numb to it.
That is advice SO many healthcare workers need. As a disabled woman, it stuns me how cold and callous medical professions can oftentimes be in a profession that recovers a heavy degree of empathy.
Been in the funeral business. You would hope when you are able to convey sympathy and emotions to people when you are dealing with their loved ones but when death is your business, you almost have to get numb to it cause you will see alot. I have similar stories that would unnerve regular people and it ain't easy going out to an incident, dropping the body at the home or the city morgue and getting back to sleep so you can work in a couple hours lemme tell ya. Different line of business I know.
Of course you get numb to it. The message should be that you have to retain your ability to have empathy for the living relatives. They’re the ones that matter anyway. The patient is dead.
My dad was in a boating accident and was lost in the water for more then 24hrs he was found under a dock, had to go see him and I don’t think it should be anyone’s wish to see what I saw , RIPDAD 😔
It’s always difficult seeing the left behind shells of our loved ones. I remember my frustration with the flies buzzing around my dad’s face as I said goodbye to him one last time before the funeral home workers took him away. My condolences, may your memories of him be blessed.
@@misseselise3864 When my grandpa died he had an open casket funeral. I was fairly young at the time and my mum suggested I didn't look as she didn't want that to be my last memory of him. I took her advice and whenever I think of him, just remember all the times we played cards, him laughing as he cheated his ass off. I'm glad she said that.
@@HavianEla What this person had to say is beyond what you can imagine. I used to work in a marina and on Christmas Eve, They had a big party at the restaurant bar there, Dave, who lived on his boat year-round, went back to his boat, and must have slipped off of his stairs and fell in and went under the dock. They didn’t find him until the day after Christmas, and he weighed about 160 pounds before he died, and when they pulled him out, he was probably over 300 pounds and pure black. I’m sorry to this person who wrote about this and I don’t mean to bring back memories, but that situation is way different than just a person dying regularly. It’s an absolute awful thing to see.
I found a body when I was about 10yrs old. My parents worked at a bar with railroad tracks that ran behind it. I used to hangout and talk to a homeless dude who lived back there. I was walking down the tracks and saw him leaning against the bridge, eyes open but not moving. After trying to get his attention, me and my friend started throwing rocks at him and he still didn't move..I hit him with a stick a few times and still nothing. So, I went Into the bar and told my parents. My dad came out and looked, then called the cops. My mom tried telling me he was just sick and my dad said "don't lie to the boy" and proceeds to tell me I just hit a dead guy with a damn stick..I'll never forget that day. That unfortunately wasn't the only time I've found someone dead. I was also present for my friends murder when I was 12 but that ones hard to talk about...been over 20yrs and that still fucks with me.
Damn. That’s traumatic. I can relate. I found a homeless man dead walking on my way to school with a friend when I was 14. And again a different friend and I found a homeless man that had OD’d and died when I was 21. It fucked with me for a few years. Haven’t really thought much of it since. But the images are forever burned in my memory. Sorry to hear about your friend. My best friend and childhood neighbour committed suicide when I was 17. I heard the gunshots, saw the police and helped his dad clean up his room. I never thought I’d see he brains and blood all over the place. I’m from Canada and they don’t have anyone come clean up the scene, it’s sad. To much death for our young minds. RIP to your friend. I feel for you 🙏
I've found a few as well, both at my old job and In the same river i fish/run on. The one that haunts me is one I missed. I ran by it for 2 weeks & thought it just looked off, underneath this big log. There was a cargo shorts pocket full of air that'd bob up to the surface once in awhile, but I decided it was a piece of cloth used to catch a oil leak that'd happened in the river, so I never got in to see. A week or so later my 11 year old nephew was on a tube and rolled the log over. A bloated half eaten face flipped up at him. I can't not ask about your friends murder, if you feel like sharing
I ate this guys breakfast tray in jail because he didn’t touch it- turns out he had died shortly before. I’m still a little disgusted by the whole ordeal.
I used to work in the office of a rescue agency. One of the best tales came from a fella on the scuba team. Someone had killed himself and chained himself to the bottom somehow. It was during a flourescent algae bloom. Every time the surge from the waves went by, the corpse GLOWED and danced along.
I left there in 2006, so I may be fuzzy on how he got there. I could swear it was a suicide though. They usually did the ocean body recoveries. I watch too many murder shows, so I probably said the same thing! Ill NEVER forget the image my mind conjured up though!
I worked with the medical examiners in the LA county morgue when I was a student at UCLA. The number 1 rule we had was no matter what came in, no matter how awful, we treated each body with respect. That body once harbored a person who was loved. So no matter how much decomposition putrefaction is present, we treat the body with respect.
My best friend of over twenty yrs died of huffing. She was actually found in the Walmart bathroom deceased. Hardly anyone talks about that topic, thank you for touching on that.
My sis was hit twice. When she was 3 and 34. She didn’t survive being hit at 34yrs old. I was the one to go identify her. Her face was serene and had a slight smile. She was covered, head to toes - in horrible bruises made even more evident by the hospital lights. I touched her and cried. But, the JP and coroner were kind and thoughtful. RIP to all those lost too soon
My guess was lightning. Only because my dad has been hit by lightning stikes twice while posted in Johannesburg SA. (Lightning does strike twice after all) While writing this, i think the person who said vehicle is most likely what this poor girl/lady was hit by. So sorry to hear xx
My cousin died alone in her house and wasn't discovered for weeks. She always talked about her dog she loved so much. In time the dog had no choice but to eat her. Firefighters were taken aback once they saw the scene inside. RIP Marie
One time I was driving an uber for an EMT and he just started telling me about the time he pulled up to a scene where a man was locked in the bathroom trying to use a wine bottle as a dildo, the bottle broke and he passed away. He said the hardest part was dealing with the dude's mom who was knocking on the door trying to get her son to open the door, only for her to realize what happened and how her son died. Then he made me pull over to catch a Pokemon in Pokemon Go
I was 5 when I saw a corpse it was a lady that used to sell candy and ice cream. Apparently some guys were trying to rob her then stabbed her. I'll never forget that crystal clear memory. At 13 I was riding my lil dirt bike and I saw a man in the ditch next to the road black shirt and Jeans. I was too afraid to call 911 so I stopped one of the adults passing by and let them know. Not even 10 mins later there was yellow tape all around. And the last one I was 15 and was going to my friend house and once I turned in his street there was a guy laying in the street and I heard ppl yelling that he just got killed with a bat, this is the first time I saw the cops arrest the suspect he was hiding in a neighbors yard. Welcome to Houston texas. Thankfully I haven't had to witness that lately and don't plan to. That stuff really gives u vivid nightmares more then I ever thought, specially the 2nd one I don't know why... I am now 28 thank you for reading my comment, I honestly feel like I got some weight off my shoulders, and I wish whoever is reading this the best in life sincerely.
It's healthy to talk or write those traumatic events out loud for you to process. Thank you for sharing. Sorry you were exposed to that at a young age.
When you're rolling around at ground level like that as a kid it's not surprising to find strange stuff. I'm sorry that happened to you twice, but glad you shared and lightened your load. Blessings to you, as well. ❤️🙏💞
I’m not shocked really.. that sounds like a normal day in Houston. Since moving here at 14 yrs old I ended up being attacked by grown men in various ways MANY times.. too many to count. You either learn to fight or die in this city. I’ve been many places but Houston has no doubt been the most violent and corrupt.
@catwithoutthehat9469 Damm. I'm sorry you had to witness that had to be ugly and tough. Everything we go through in life is to make us better and stronger "what doesn't kill you makes you stronget" I honestly feel like that saved me from doing things in the streets that ppl around me were doing, that could've easily led me to nothing good. And I'm sure that saved u somehow also in some type of manner. Half the ppl I grew up with are gone or in jail and I dodged that and we still here. At the end of the day it takes a strong MF to keep pushing towards positive, you're a warrior 💪
I found a body floating in local creek when I was a kid. I remember telling people in the neighbourhood and one person i.told turned out to be her father. Still gives me shivers.
Saw my 1st dead body when i was 20. My gf's mother had some issues.. So, one day my gf called me to go check on her mom bcuz she wasnt answering the phone for anyone. What i saw when i got there, i wasn't ready for. I noticed the tv on in her bedroom, so i went in and noticed she was propped up in her bed, but had the covers over her head. I pulled the blanket back and there she was. 🔫 underneath her chin, eyes bulged out, blood everywhere. I'll never forget that "gone" look and the grey eyes. The saddest part about it all was.. you could tell she was crying before she pulled the trigger. Not only that, but seeing as how she pulled the covers over her head to prevent a bigger mess for her loved ones.. so much sadness behind all of it. It will stick w/ me forever. (Another sad side note to this: She had asked if i could get her a 🔫 the month before, i said no. So what does she do? Asks her daughters ex-bf to get her one, and he did. We found the withdrawal slip for 5K, made out to him.)
My son was suicidal and was crossing a bridge where he saw an attractive woman about to jump and he yelled fir her to stop and not jump. Suicidal thoughts seemed to have gone. Poor woman was 20 devastated about a broken relationship...i pray for my children and there welfare each day. Take care of each other please.
So for an ugly woman he probably wouldn’t have yelled? Or why do you specifically include this part? Or is it just horse shit? Tooth fairy’s peace be with you!
Thank you so much for doing this podcast episode with another fellow Deputy Coroner/Coroner. Our profession is severely underrated amongst Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS etc, and the public in general don’t typically know what we do. Thank you for shedding light on what it is we do and go through by bringing someone on who’s an expert of the subject. I always love hearing other Deputy Coroner’s case stories and I’ve had a few similar ones as this gentleman has had.
I appreciate what y'all do and have been at a ton of scenes that y'all show up to. Just as a truck driver, it's more likely to roll up on a fatality. I know y'all see some horrifying things. Question though; Can nobody else declare the victim dead before y'all get there and maybe move the body out of the way? Why do they leave a person exposed in the middle of the road for hours and hours until y'all show up? Especially when it's clear as day they're gone.
@@lakeedwards6408 I know that we aren’t the only ones that can pronounce. A doctor or Registered nurse or above can also pronounce, which in a vehicle fatality incident, local LE isn’t gonna grab some nurse or doctor from the hospital to come and pronounce before the Deputy Coroner gets there. The body is left as is and not moved to help preserve the scene. By moving the body or changing it in any way that was not the original way, contaminates the scene and makes our job as well as local LE investigator’s job, a whole lot harder in finding out what happened. I know when we have traffic fatality in our jurisdiction, local LE sends specialist investigators out to literally scan the scene to render a 3D model of it. That’s why preserving the scene as best as we can is crucial. It makes our results and conclusions more accurate. Is it inconvenient or annoying for others who are caught up in traffic because of it? Absolutely. But the family of the victim(s) will appreciate the thoroughness of our efforts as well as the people of our community.
When I worked as an EMT in a rural area I responded to a few like this. Suicides, OD’s. and natural causes mostly. One that stands out is a guy about 400+ pounds who was dead for at least a week in a trailer bathroom in the middle of summer. We had to get him bagged, moved and transported. Once you go through something like that you can handle almost anything.
Thank you man for your job. Ik y'all see the legit worst of the worst and still get the job done. Being manic I've dealt with y'all a few times and y'all always treated me well.
nothing can prepare you seeing dead month old babies. real life (exclude hellraiser/cenobites) No type of injury, dead body make me sick or discomfort..... except dead/deformed babies. just typing about it gets me teary eyed.
It's not as fun as you'd think, finding a body! I found my neighbor, passed away, Christmas night, I was just checking on him bc his sister had asked me to go over bc he wasn't picking up his phone, poor guy had a stroke and didn't make it. But I saw his face for a while everytime I closed my eyes. It was not a good thing.
I've come across quite a few dead people, mostly car crashes before the cops come. Not the same as coming up on a dead body but yeah it's not a big deal. I can tell you that a motorcycle helmet doesn't hold up to the rear wheels of a funky loaded semi truck. They flatten and stuff comes out
@@dickfitzwelliner2807 Not a big deal? Wow you're a big tough internet man aren't you. Keep bullshitting and begging for attention over the internet kid.
A lot of people have a natural curiosity. I'd say it's not really like they really really want to see it, they just have to know. Bc they will die some day too. I've consoled a couple people that found dead bodies in EMS and yeah. .. all of them were shaking like a leaf.
One of my coworkers didn’t show up for 2 weeks. We went to his house, his car was in the driveway. We walked up to his house there was rotten food sitting next to his grill. We walked in. He was laying there in his underwear, he was twice the size, yellowish blue with lines all over him like big veins, his face was melted off with maggots pouring out, flys everywhere. I could literally taste the smell. I will never forget that. He had a heart attack.
2:06 Ive worked at my family's Motel since I graduated in 2015. I've seen a handful of dead bodies. The worst was when a mother was delivering groceries to her son, & couldn't get him to answer his door. She already knew, because she made me go into the room while she waited in her car. I found him laying facedown, hanging off the bed. I nodded to her, that it wasn't good. She freaked out & i tried to comfort her. It was later that I was informed they found the needle still in his arm when they rolled him upright... He was purple & blue when I found him, & only 27 years old. It really hurt, that she looked like my mother & reminded me of her. It really opened my eyes up.. I could never force my mother to have to go through something like that...
I also had an old costumer who hadn't been in at his routine time, & I talked to him almost every other day. Well, my cousin and I went to his room, & you could smell it before you even opened the door. He was writing in his journal, & was slumped over. I believe he knew he might've been writing his last words... Just went peacefully, no next of kin or family. Kind of sad, but I'm glad I got to conversate with him as much as I did. Mr. William Crawford.
One of the best conference i attended was from a nurse who served as a coroner ; Virginia Lynch McKenna. Fueled my interest as a Forensic nurse. Now, I'm in Forensic Psychology. Coroner s and ME's are incredible people.
As a former medical social worker, I saw some things on the night shift ER that will always stay with me. The saddest event I was a part of was when we had an infant and mother brought in due to the mother waking up to her baby not breathing. The ER team did compressions on the baby before “calling it,” meaning that the baby had passed and there was nothing that else could be done. As the mom was Spanish speaking only, and I am bi-lingual, I had to interpret for doctor. The mom began to wail, grabbed her baby and began to rock back and forth. All medical staff cleared the room and I was left alone with the mother and her baby. I was stunned for a couple of seconds before I began to console her and sat next to her as she and she rocked and forth. Little by little I got her to focus on getting out her phone so I could start calling family to come to the ER. After I got everything situated and did everything I needed to do as the social worker, I went back to my station and cried for a little while.
As an ICU nurse assistant, I saw a lot that will stay with me forever. I do believe it was a blessing to witness such raw real life and death situations. I will never take life for granted. God bless
Where Theo goes in conversation is wild It’s great to see the visitor entertaining him honestly, which gives great conversation out of nowhere. Good job guys
My dad took his life Saturday, nov 9. It's super fresh. He was adhd and alcoholic but was in recovery. He was our world. I'm oldest im 35, my sis and he has 2 more sons from another marriage. It's rough, but I'm here for the podcast. Love you, theo ❤️!!!
I would love to see Theo Von interview a crime scene cleaner now. These guys see crazy shit on the daily and it would be interesting to see what they’ve experienced over the years as well as stuff about the business people don’t know about.
I have a crazy one lol We had a lady in our town once, I wasn't on the scene but I was doing my emt clinical at the same ambulance station... this person was in their tub (alive tho) in an apartment, with a hanger up her hoo ha. The neighbor had called lol She would not stop either. Come to find out, there were 2 snakes and a rodent up in there and she as trying to get them out... she wouldn't respond to anyone and the cops came too and she had to be forced out of the tub.... crazy.
My best friend when I was 5 drowned at her bday party… I didn’t see her… we just were told to leave with our parents asap. That was that. Still very sad to this day 30 years on.
Born and raised in Louisiana. I rolled up to a body two years ago. She was hit by a car walking home from the grocery store and left on the side of the road. Her groceries were all over the place. It was heartbreaking and my kids were with me.
Theo- “If ya have a spotter you don’t even need to do it” Coroner- “Well it depends” Theo-“Well yea.. ppl are into different stuff.. and ppl are artistic” Theo the Effortlessly talented word artisan 👨🎨
Its actually stupid how fucking good this is and how no one has done this podcast format sooner. Everyday people are interesting but its hard to get into these type of conversations just out and about
"Do you think he had any intel or he just got lucky?" Theo never fails to crack me out with the random shit his says. Finding a dead body has never been a bucket list item for me, but I can see where Theo is coming from.
I can't. I can usually see the appeal of things even if I'm not into them, but this is actually a nightmare for me. I cant figure out why anyone would want to find that. It's so disgusting and heartbreaking. I seriously can't come up with one reason why anyone would want that to happen to them.
Worst I ever came across was a guy die in the flat a few floors down from me. The poor bstrd had nobody. Died in his living room(irony) and his body started to dissolve into his floor. Luckily the family living below him weren't home one day because the floor collapsed and he ended up across in their living room. He was dead for about 5 months. I've no idea how nobody noticed the smell. This was 1992, in central London on a hot August day. That day i swore to myself I'd keep an eye on any neighbours I had even if they didn't speak to me.
Thank you for keeping an eye. I've heard this story so many times, usually it's an elderly person who died and nobody checked on them for months. Makes you think how lonely people are, so many of them.
@@Blashmackit's terrible man. Horrible to think another human can die and be left like that. 9million people around you, yet your all alone. It takes a few seconds to check, or even make a welfare check call to the police. People get embarrassed, but even give them your number and them youre there if you need any help if someone is lurking around or there is a burglar around. They will ring if they have too even if theyre tpp proud that day to say thanks. If we looked out for eachother more we really would feel better and get along as society better. Knowing someone has your back and cares can make such a good difference to life. Stay blessed brother!
There was a lady called Joyce Vincent I think her name was, she was dead for 4 years in her London flat years ago, rent was paid automatically via direct debit, so no bailiffs or family to find her body so no one knew & more recently another lady was found called Sheila not far from London too. Neighbours complained to the council in both cases & years before they were found but still deceased when they complained.
You’re a really good person for that. It’s very sad how often this happens. 6 months ago my mother found her neighbor because of a smell in the hallway of their apartment building. I hate hearing of situations where the person was alive for a few days after an accident in their home but they don’t have anyone in this world that ever checks up on them.
For some reason the talk of finding bodies brought my mind back to a serial killer we had here in England known as 'The Grindr Killer' (4 victims). His first victim, Anthony Wallgate (R.I.P). He brings Anthony back to his flat (apartment) and after raping & murdering him, drags the body out to the pavement (sidewalk), uses his own phone to call an ambulance telling them that he was driving past and had seen, "a young boy collapsed or had a seizure or was drunk" then went back into his flat. Somehow the link to him was missed. Victims 2 and 3 were both dumped in a graveyard. A fake suicide note was left with Victim 3 stating he was responsible for the death of Victim 2 and so killed himself because of the guilt. These two bodies were found by the same woman walking her dog, on 2 separate occasions!
Bless him. His final statements apply to several jobs like this, including the job I had in pathology. It takes a special kind of temperament to do the job, you have to be somewhat detached or you'd go crazy, but you have to stop sometimes and remember you're dealing with real human beings who had lives and families.
I really enjoyed this interview The coroner's compassion is amazing. So many people who deal with death as a career become almost jaded or harden because it's natural to respond to repeated trauma by going numb.. but this guy seems to really support the families of the deceased. Good for him, I wish more people were as caring & compassionate
@@josephhurst1117 very odd. It's one of my biggest nightmares (and a lot of other people feel the same way), so I legitimately can't understand why anyone would want to see that.
Fascinating! ...also, I am moved by the respect your guest shows for the dead. I would think that in order to cope with so much death a person would have to disassociate themselves from the situation and put up some sort of mental wall. It's heart warming to see he is caring and respectful of the deceased.
It’s not always the case. When my husband died the coroner was particularly rude minutes after they declare him dead. The cops were nicer and cops haven’t often been nice in my experience.
I grew up in an EMS family and volunteered in search and rescue and "accidentally" finding a body unprepared is near the very bottom of my bucket list.
Right, wth?! It's one of my worst nightmares! I can't find a single reason why anyone would want that to happen. I'm always afraid it's gonna happen! What could be even one reason for that?
Years ago i was a very avid carp fisherman. I was on a weekend fishing trip at a river (the Waal) here in the Netherlands. At one point in the middle of the night one of my electronic bite alarms started beeping so i got out of my sleeping bag and out of the tent to hook the fish. Immediately after hooking the fish i could feel this was not a fish , but that it was either an object or floating debris. After a few minutes of reeling in the line i could see what i caught , and it was clear that i had caught a dead body. And it was clear that this person had been in the water for a long time , the corpse was completely swollen and the skin was peeling , almost unrecognizable as a human .It looked like scene straight out of a horror movie. i was 19yo or 20yo at the time , all alone in the middle of the night surounded by farm lands at the river with a dead body in the water , HOLY SH!T WTF !!! I had to sit down on my stretcher and smoke a couple of sigarets to calm myself down before i could even think straight again. I called the police and within half an our or an our a whole circus was organized to deal with the (for me crazy) situation. I was later informed by the police that the person in question was German and had been murdered in Germany and was probably dumped in the river in Germany or just across the German/Dutch border. The body had probably been in the water for about 2 weeks before i fished him out of the water here in the Netherlands. So it turned out i had caught a human corpse , and till this day its still the biggest catch of my life. And this is just one of the crazy things i've experienced while night fishing , but certainly the most shocking
A buddy of mine was a coroner, he has a very twisted sense of humor and always joked about carrying his 9mm with him just in case he gets a call when someone isn't actually dead yet. The other was he wanted to follow ambulances with the hearse lol
Mauis coroner is the police chief also. And was incident commander at Vegas massacre. Has complete authority to determine causes of death and controls any investigation of them too. Interesting.
@dysay I'm from CT and know people who where there at sandy hook. I know people who personally knew the gunman. They said they weren't surprised he did it. One morning me and my dad were leaving for work when we seen a body of a young lady in the alley across the street from our house. We had called the cops when the lady got up and ran towards our car. Turns out her "friends" left her for dead in the alley, because they thought she overdosed.
I used to be a truck driver, at 28 I got tboned. The other driver ran straight into my fuel tanks. Shit blew up and tossed us into a ditch. Luckily I didn’t get knocked unconscious and was able to jump out the windshield but was banged up bad, the screams of someone burning alive will haunt me till the day I die. Rest easy Gabi Espinoza
@@rickardbarendsen1782 I agree. He says that a lot when he doesnt know how to explain the situation. He called the hosts of Triggernometry autistic to their faces while doing a podcast where he was their guest, because he found them a bit strange(I think he never really talked to British people before that). And they tried to just brush it off because yeah... he shouldnt do that so often....
I definitely do not ever want to suddenly discover a dead body! I used to be a meter reader and I had to go behind people’s bushes to get to the meters to read them and one time I though I found a dead child and it scared the life out of me. It turned out to be a Halloween decoration where someone had a big doll and dressed it in kids clothes and probably had it propped up in the bushes and it eventually fell face down over and leaves and other debris started covering it and it looks to me like all the world as a dead child and I nearly fell over in fright
Saw my godfather hanging from a tree at 12 with handcuffs behind him meaning he really wanted to die. 14 years later it’s still permanently scarred in my brain. I seen a motorcycle accident with the body covered and before I moved from Florida a homeless lady laid out on the road from being hit by a semi. It never leaves you especially if you yourself experienced a near death experience I always wondered the feeling after because I was at peace when I was bleeding out so when someone dies or I see one I think about there last moments and reply my own experience over and over.
I used to clean alleyways for my city walked into one that was fairly grown up in a bad neighborhood. The smell hit me immediately when I finally found it there was a trash bag in the bushes with something vaguely child sized inside it. I was about to be sick at that point but I took my knife and cut a small hole in it and it turned out to be a dog. Still fucked up. You could see where the person had cut its throat
My cousins & I found my neighbor's dead body while walking along the river to look for him. He committed suicide after his son's funeral. His son died from a pulmonary embolism while mowing their yard back in 2017.
I’ve only seen two deaths happen and they haunt me to this day. Homeless lady got shot point blank and a logger who accidentally cut his artery while he was repelled towards the top of a tree. It was like it was raining blood and nobody could help him in time
Absolutely dangerous with NO regards for the wife's health. Completely disgusting, unprofessional, behavior with lack of regard for that woman... Sad and totally typical of the south....
helping cheaters get away with their lies even after death. not fair to their partners. i would want to know if my husband was cheating on me even after he dies.
I’m a pilots wife. IF my husband died on the road and IF he had condoms, I would greatly appreciate his crew pitching them. And the rest of you can piss off with your opinions. You have no idea and I can mind my own health. Thank you.
When I was 11 I had to attend a friends funeral out in Tulsa. When leaving the funeral my mother and I rolled up on an ejected body from a crash before anyone had gotten there. I did quite a bit of growing up that day 😢.
A long time ago I witnessed a guy go through his windshield on a freeway after he was rear-ended. He had tried to merge into the right lane when the guy he was merging in front of sped up. The accident sent all of us who had driving along side the two cars swerving to avoid it. I was only 3 months into nursing school and had my scrubs on, so people expected me to perform CPR on a guy who had flown through his windshield and 4 lanes onto the opposite side of the freeway. His head was split open and his neck just completely crushed. The guy who hit him was stuck in his car, white as a sheet, screaming and bleeding heavily from his face and head. The front end of his car was crushed all the way up to the steering wheel column. I couldn’t drive for almost a year after that because every time I would try, I’d start shaking really violently. It was awful to witness something like that. So I know exactly how traumatic it can be. I still think about the man who was ejected from his car from time to time.
@@SlickArmor I agree! Only thing is, I think that’s what Theo is going for. He is more of a character and that’s the main joke but I still love his comedy style. He’s got a show coming up near me think imma go to it. You ever been to one of his shows?
@@landolockss no never been in fact I don't think I've ever even seen a show. Everytime I see him he is either doing a reaction show or something conversational. I'll have to search out one of his shows.
This happened to my dad, in the South Texas oil fields where a lot of immigrants cross he went to open a gate early in the morning and it had blood on it. He looked in the brush line and sure enough there was a dead body. He had passed through someone’s property and was suspected to have attacked by a group of hog dogs because he had bite marks all over his arms, neck and hands and was missing skin. If you’re familiar with “Hog Baying” you take a group of dogs, usually 4 chase and 4 catch dogs- the 4 catch can be anything from Pit Bulls to Mutts. Either way, they smell blood and go for the kill. That’s what happened here. Poor guy died at the hands of a pack of dogs, and my old man found him.
I'm really amazed at how very good you are at interviewing people. Barbara Walters had nothing on you! Keep up the good work you get very interesting people and and you ask very interesting questions!
As someone who's been around human death I don't know if you really want to find a body, ecspecially one that has been deceased a bit. The smell is unlike anything you'll ever experience. It sticks to you, both literally & pyschologically. You'll never forget that smell.
I’ve found 4-5 dead bodies at a nursing home I worked at. I was only there for like 7 months I couldn’t take it. Then I seen a drowned body at an aquatic resort in Wisconsin Dells. The last time was 8 months ago I saw a guy that got run over laying on the road. Trust me that morbid curiosity goes away when it finally does happen. Luckily it didn’t affect me much in the long run. Does make you see and appreciate life more.
Working at a Nursing home the anticipation would bother me the most. You know any minute they gonna go, are they going to Fall out n bust thier Heads when walking about? Talking mid sentence and zone out into Death...
Hung out at a skatepark all day with some friends, noticed a guy sleeping in the grass around noon, he hadn't moved by 6p.m. so we checked and he was dead. Called the cops of course, they said all he had on him was a wallet and an empty bottle of vodka - AZ middle of summer, dude kinda just passed out and died.
Funeral home workers/coroners/morticians are some of the most sympathetic to those grieving. I was deeply touched by the lengths a small time funeral home did for my family after my dad died. Dropped a grand off the price and everything
Good of you to honor him. ❤️🙏💞
I'm sorry you went through such a traumatic experience. The flowers were a beautiful gesture. R.I.P. to the gentleman 💖💐🙏🏻

My first traumatic death call as a firefighter was for a guy who was working on his truck in his yard and it had fallen off the jack and pinched him in half at the sternum like a tube of toothpaste.

That is what makes Theo so charismatic. It is a honest guy with all the issues and questions, thoughts, dreams as we do.

You'd want him touching the crime scene to hide the fact your spouse was cheating on you?
Cause that's what he said he does.

What this person had to say is beyond what you can imagine.

I used to work in the office of a rescue agency. One of the best tales came from a fella on the scuba team. Someone had killed himself and chained himself to the bottom somehow. It was during a flourescent algae bloom. Every time the surge from the waves went by, the corpse GLOWED and danced along.
🤯
Well that seems suspicious. I would think chaining a victim under water ....

All the best 👍❤️
Hey bro did you watch the full episode?
@@ConmanHothands I did.

Medical social worker haha how to make yourself sound more interesting than it actually is
As an ICU nurse assistant, I saw a lot that will stay with me forever. I do believe it was a blessing to witness such raw real life and death situations. I will never take life for granted. God bless

@@RageRomantic That's right! I remember watching a documentary made about her (Joyce) called "Dreams of a Life", it was heartbreaking.
That lucky bitch 😅
Thats chilling
I remember watching a documentary on this case. Crazy. So sorry for the victims and their families
What are the chances to find a Bodie on 2 separate occasions? Almost worth moving to a new area?

I really enjoyed this interview
The coroner's compassion is amazing.

If you deal with death & it doesn't affect you, maybe you're a politician.
You end up doing it without thinking about it.
@heatherandtimsharp an experience with a cop is very situational. It changes depending on what's going on or what you are doing.
