Love the collab you did, great work! For me, it's this vid is just re-affirmation - I drove the top-spec RAV4 hybrid in January (vaguely knowing that Honda will also make a hybrid at some point) and watching this I know I made the right decision - I bought the CX-5 signature :D (had the previous gen CX-5 for 5 years before that and did a dealer trade-in)
Crv is very minivan soccer mom. RAV4 looks rugged and drives more like a truck/suv. I think men prefer the RAV4. I made the mistake of buying the 18 crv. After 8 months I couldn’t wait to trade it in. The plastic inside that’s shiny scratches no matter what you do. The gas leaks into oil. The car will not warm up in winter or defrost windshield. That and it’s beyond boring to drive. The entire look and feel is a minivan. I had buyers remorse from month one. I got the rav and I couldn’t be happier. Such a nice change and now I feel like I’m in a truck and more in control of the road. Speakers kick ass, and it looks dope.
I love my 2020 Rav4 XSE hybrid. The interior is sporty and love the sport suspension of the XSE....You sit tall, have great view, yet still have great handling that is similar to a sedan. Also the two tone pearl white body with black top looks unique.
What Alex has managed to do in his video is giving us info not easily found on official materials. 👍 Most other reviewer just gives us the same thing on sales materials
You have to understand that the Crv was there before that generations of rav 4 ..so its gonna have some weaknesses but advantages as well...i love the crv... but the rav4 is great too
i think you really can't go wrong with either depending on your priorities, but the rav4 has some advantages as (i believe) this generation is two years ahead of the cr-v.
Two different types of hybrid systems. To complicated for me, these guys help. Toyota has been doing it since Prius was born. We cant ignore the Honda Insight either. One old man bought a used Insight and drove it over a 100K himself and willed it to his grandson at his death as his most prized possession! He expected it would never die! I might get one of those Insights. 0-60 in 7.3 seconds is fast enough for me. Alex reviewed the Insight and said if it had a wider tires, the ride would be as effective as higher cost hybrids. And that he would even consider purchasing over a Prius. Sofyan is no lightweight either, he explained why Kia and Hyundai should not be overlooked.
@Ohsaint p It would not be a deal breaker if 100% i would know all rav4 will have it. My Audi have this issue, but you can fill it up anyways - just pull fuel nozzle out a little bit.
Who cares? Nobody is going to spend the money on a brand new hybrid while we are nose diving into a recession with gas I just bought at $1.48 a gallon yesterday and rapidly declining due to both a decrease in global demand and an increase in price war. Manufacturers that focus on low entry-price decent performance SUVs and trucks are going to be the only ones making money anytime soon.
@@newchannel1231 You know how I know its not temporary? Look at OFS companies massive downsizing and early termination penalties for future projects being cancelled. An offshore rig or even wells take a LONG time to get all the engineering, design, budget, land, taxes, lawyers, and all that stuff in play which can be years before a single drop of oil is pumped, and yet projects already underway are being cancelled. This represents billions of dollars. If experts with that much money on the line and insider knowledge think that it won't be profitable even years from now, so much so that they are willing to take a financial hit right now during a crisis to cut their losses, that tells me cheap gas is here to stay.
Great Video! Very informative for both vehicles. I prefer the CRV Hybrid though. Also loved that two of my favorite youtubers teamed up to make this video. Kind of reminds me of the Marvel Super Hero Team up Comics..
For the CR-V, indicated 212 HP "under some conditions". Those conditions involve driving over 100 MPH, and only last for the few seconds it takes to use up all the battery charge. You can NEVER get more that 180 or so under anything like normal operating conditions: Max acceleration at any "normal" speed is always achieved by serial-hybrid operation, and so is limited to the power of output of the electric drive motor. Once the battery is discharged (very quickly), you're down to the 143 HP engine alone, and with generator-motor losses, you'd be lucky to get as high as 125 HP of actual driving power. 212 HP is very shaky (shady? mendacious?) accounting. (I own an Accord Hybrid, same drive system. I love it and it serves me well, but to call it 200+ HP is ridiculous.)
Always informative Alex, so much knowledge in your videos! Great work! Camera work though... The jittery nervous camera movement is the sign of an inexperienced operator. I like you fixed camera videos much better!
Thanks, Alex. We're looking at the CR-V Hybrid and the Escape Hybrid. Would be nice to see a comparison review of the RAV4, CR-V and Escape Hybrid vehicles. Keep up the great work.
I think I want the CR-V, but I'm going to wait for a re-design. I was surprised they didn't combine the release of the hybrid with a the release of a re-design.
There wont be a redesign for crv until fall of 2021 when all new 2022 will be released. Honda says the 2021 will be 5th generation so no redesign. So you will be waiting for long. just get a 2021 rav4 when released this summer. Toyota would have fixed all consumer complains
We literally just bought the 2021 RAV4 Hybrid yesterday. We absolutely love it! 41mpg, and, this is a combination of driving city, highway, and mountain driving.
Alex is so eager to talk , does not allow Sobiyen to complete this thought :) Loved the comparison !! Nicely done ...I like the CRV , just because RAV4 feels claustrophobic. That said , will wait for second generation of CRV hybrid .
To be exact, no spare tire well. I don’t mind buying one aftermarket but don’t want it to intrude into the cargo space. Carrying a spare in the CR-V means you ruin the usable shape of the cargo area. E.g. I don’t mind that the Accord hybrid doesn’t come with a spare, at least there’s space for one.
The issue is simple: the fuel sensor is bad. It shows “empty” with about 4-5 gallons left in the tank, so while people think it’s empty and can only add 9-10 gallons of fuel, the reality is that it wasn’t empty. Toyota has a TSB on it and a fix coming in a few weeks (a new tank sensor and gauge re-program). You can realistically drive over 150 miles after it goes to empty.
@@jxmar_ I know it will but I'll wait on the reviews and I'll compare it to the Tesla Model Y top pricing. I just feel more comfortable with the backup gas as I am with my Volt that's around 94K miles and so far used 460 gallons total in 4 years of ownership. The RAV4 cargo space and comfortable seating for 3 in the mid is a hugh selling point for us. We already have 2 RAV 4 previously 2013 and 2015.
Toyota's cruise control stalk was easy to use and intuitive. You could use it without moving your right hand up to the steering wheel, which was much more relaxing while driving. Unfortunately, enough of you complained so Toyota went with what you see here.
I agree. I had 3 Toyota’s with the old style cruise control stalk. Now, I have a 2020 Corolla with the buttons on the wheel and, I gotta say I miss the stalk. It was very quick and easy to use without even looking.

The infotainment screen also needs the updated style that my 20 month old 2019 Honda Insight has...... not sure why they placed an outdated system in a brand newly released CR-V.
The RAV4 has a frowning grill that makes it look like a unhappy constipated frog. The spare tire and better fuel economy, however, makes the RAV4 the winner.
I call the front grill the "angry chinaman" look. I agree the spare tire, better fuel economy AND ability to tow a small trailer makes the Rav 4 the winner in my books. I wish the Rav4 hybrid would have the front grill of the Adventure/Trail model but it's not a deal breaker.

and the Rav have all those tiny pillar Fr & Rr inside the upper door frame glass area .This helps to internalize the windows . I like the cleaner design of the Cr-v : 3 lateral glass instead of 5 on the Rav & anyway I will never be at the back of the crv trying to rest my elbow over the opening .
👍👍👍I personally prefer the RAV4 hybrid: because the exterior look, interior look, optional heated rear seats, optional panoramic sunroof, and much more(these are not available on the CRV). The RAV4 has an advantage you do not lose any cargo room because the hybrid battery pack is under the seat. Also RAV4 is better because you can CHOOSE FROM 10 TRIM LEVELS(4 hybrid trim levels LE-Limited)!!!!!! Lastly Toyota has the better mpg and will outlast Honda by many years!!!!!!!!!
I just appreciate that some of the auto companies are making more efficient vehicles. Hybrid power may be a transition between ICE and EV, but for many years it is going be be a good solution to reduce pollution and fuel consumption. If I needed a vehicle of this size I would be happy with the one that was most comfortable to drive and for passenger and cargo capacity. A few mpg difference is not going to matter as much as all the other variables. Some folks may pick one based on appearance or price, nothing else matters. I think the front end styling on both is horrendous. Why have so many cars gotten so ugly? The RAV looks like a creepy thing living in the deep ocean.
I believe the Toyota Softex is far superior to leather. I currently have a 2012 Prius V with Softex and it looks as good as the day I bought the car and I live in a climate were the temperatures vary from -20c and +35c every year. No colour fading, no surface cracking or peeling, very durable and is virtually maintenance free. Just wipe the seat surfaces down with a damp cloth. It really should be an option all all cars. Try getting those results with the cheap leather they are putting in cars today. Will never buy a car with leather seats again.
And remember, on EVERY trim of the CRV Hybrid, you get those fully LED headlights and not just on the Touring. But, the CRV LX Hybrid doesn’t have fog lights.
And the fact that the infotainment screen is raised, for ease of glancing from the road. Also that small cut out window from the A pillars on the front doors= more view.
My 98 Rav4 has a center differential which when it is engaged got me out mud half way up the tire on an incline. Very nice feature. The new Rav4 needs crawl control like the 4RUNNER
I would with the tried and true Toyota Hybrid system. They’ve been making them for a long time. Honda tried hybrid years ago and it didn’t go over too well. Their insight never caught on like The Prius.
The CRV with their earth dreams engine is having oil dilution issues and there is a class action lawsuit suit filed because of it. The engine defect causes fuel to enter the engine oil which damages the bearings and engine permanently.
Toyota should have the Honda CR-V excellent taillights/brake lights. Toyota RAV4 brake light is way too bright and small causing temporary blindness to drivers who are behind a RAV4.
$59,905.37 Canadian “Bucks” for the equivalent Phillipino Pesos. A lot of dineros but for what you get mang, would say I would be seriously considering it. One can dream but NA markets are hamstringed by VW diesel scandal. GMC Terrain has a 134hp diesel with the funky pull button shifters that a lot of people say ugh but now I see it is used by more auto makers. The 1.6 turbo diesel Terrain gets up to 40mpg highway and like 32mpg city. Salamat. Great review hombre! Edit the 2018 GMC used Terrain price is $27,500. Hoping to trade in my Truck 07’ 2500 5.9 for the GMC. Thank you.
I feel like the difference in options is worth about 2,000 to 2,500. 5k is a big difference for heated rear seats and cooled front seats and pano roof... js
The difference is $3400-$3800 fully loaded. Extras include heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, digital rear mirror, 360 bird view camera, panoramic sunroof (or adaptive front steering headlight), and 11 speakers JBL stereo. I just wish CRV has 360 cameras.
My most fav car review guys. Nice job. Hey the CR-V lost me at the no Stick shift, push button drive park etc. Im 66 Yrs old, I want to get something I can relate to. No colour fading, no surface cracking or peeling, very durable and is virtually maintenance free. Just wipe the seat surfaces down with a damp cloth. It really should be an option all all cars. Try getting those results with the cheap leather they are putting in cars today. Will never buy a car with leather seats again.
Great tag team! I know that must be harder to do. You addressed all time concerns.
Alex on Redline Reviews ? Niccceeeeee
And remember, on EVERY trim of the CRV Hybrid, you get those fully LED headlights and not just on the Touring. But, the CRV LX Hybrid doesn’t have fog lights.
You guys forgot the cámara rear view mirror on the Rav4..😔😔
And the fact that the infotainment screen is raised, for ease of glancing from the road. Also that small cut out window from the A pillars on the front doors= more view.
This is a great mash up of opinions. We got a 2020 Rav4 Hybrid Limited and it is great. Wwe get about 40MPG average.
My 98 Rav4 has a center differential which when it is engaged got me out mud half way up the tire on an incline. Very nice feature. The new Rav4 needs crawl control like the 4RUNNER
Great comparisons. Need a bit more info on safety features next time.
Thank you
Well done guys. Please do more of these.
Really enjoyed this video! Having another reviewer give their opinion makes it more fun! 👍
I would with the tried and true Toyota Hybrid system. They’ve been making them for a long time. Honda tried hybrid years ago and it didn’t go over too well. Their insight never caught on like The Prius.
I can't believe these things are now 33k+.
I recently returned my 2019 RAV-4 Hybrid due to the fuel tank issue. i'm hearing the 2020 hybrid are having the same problem.
Damn that was quick
The CRV with their earth dreams engine is having oil dilution issues and there is a class action lawsuit suit filed because of it. The engine defect causes fuel to enter the engine oil which damages the bearings and engine permanently.
@@noahboy6349 That's the 1.5T
this is great, I like the both of you do these type of reviews together. :)
If you want to tow, Honda says no for the CR-V Hybrid. The Rav4 Hybrid on the other hand can tow up to 1750 pounds.
Very cool vids with two opinions like that, so good idea. Thanks.
Toyota should have the Honda CR-V excellent taillights/brake lights.
Toyota RAV4 brake light is way too bright and small causing temporary blindness to drivers who are behind a RAV4.
The important thing is its bright (Rav 4 rear lights )
Two legends join forces!
Thank you.
Great Comparison Video !!
Great to see a segment with the both of you so I don’t have see what each channel say lol
My most fav car review guys. Nice job. Hey the CR-V lost me at the no Stick shift, push button drive park etc. Im 66 Yrs old, I want to get something I can relate to. When Alex bought the Rav4 hybrid, I heard that, and changed my mind about hybrids. I was sold on the Rav4 Adventure b4 that. How much off road will I really do? I can rent an off road rig if I need one on those days. And I like the Lunar Rock color.
Good Review. Just wondering why you always knock down Halogen Fog Lamps. Don't they perform better in the Fog?
al tep i agree with you.. i put LED fog lights in my Jeep and couldn’t see as good down low as had with the Halogen.
This is Epic. My two favorite reviewers.
Only 2 auto reviewers I consistently watch in 1 video.
Please find a way to put these cars on a dynamometer. I'd love to see the torque and horsepower curves of these things. It's slightly outside your wheelhouse, but it should be incredibly educational on how the hybrid systems compare.
I still like the best rav4 takes long last ;)
Best 2 reviewers on You Tube.
