Consistency is key!! Thats what helps me move on so fast. If there is a lack of consistency I gotta go! How is a man going to prove that he can commit if he can’t even reach out to you and be with you often.
Had a man try to play the disappearing act on me after only a couple of dates. The first time he said he lost a family member and I was understanding. We went on another date and had a good time. He said he really needed it because of what he was going through so I was under the impression that we were going to continue where we left off. He disappeared again. This time since I knew the potential reason I sent two texts and tried calling once to check on him. After the call he messaged apologizing for disappearing again and asked if he could call me later that day but he never did. I gave it 2 days then blocked him cold turkey. I’ve learned that putting a man before myself out of being understanding never ends well. They always just end up taking me for granted. I believe that I saved myself from a potential heartbreak.

Yeah I stood my ground with my now boyfriend of over a year the first week of us talking. He told me he was going to call me and he didn’t. I let him know that I couldn’t move forward with the first date because he showed me he wasn’t a man of his word. He was shocked and said no one has ever held him a such standard. When I tell you he never told me he was gonna call me and didn’t actually call. When I say this video by TG is soooo spot on! I recently had this same experience-decided to cut him off in the same way TG advised and he never reached back out - it validated the feeling I had that he wasn’t the one for me - dating has become stress free when standards and expects are set up front and bc most men have been spoiled by hookup culture a lot of them will disappear but that’s expected in the current dating environment - when you know your worth it is sooo worth the wait

We had a 90 day situation. I ended it after 90 day because he wanted his freedom. I did not sleep with him. It’s been 2 months since I’ve talked to him. We were taking every day for hours at a time. Our longest conversation was 6 hours. He flew into to see me for the weekend. We slept in the same bed without sex. We kissed but no rubbing on me.
Genuine question: A gentlemen whom is a close acquaintance asked if he could take me out on my belated birthday. I politely declined as I'm not into being celebrated (working on that). As time passed, he told me that he was recommended a book and asked if we could read it together. Is that considered being creative? I love to read btw, and thought it was different.
Also, you could have let him take you out and it could have been a cute joke that it was "not a celebration." It looks like he worked to find another way to interact with you but don't shoot people down b/c YOU don't believe in "celebrating." It sounds like his intentions were just to spend time with you so maybe try not to make him jump through hoops to make that happen. Learn to counter the ask/offer and negotiate into something comfortable for yourself. For example, " Awe you want to take me out for my birthday? We had a 90 day situation. I ended it after 90 day because he wanted his freedom. I did not sleep with him. It’s been 2 months since I’ve talked to him. We were taking every day for hours at a time. Our longest conversation was 6 hours. He flew into to see me for the weekend. We slept in the same bed without sex. We kissed but no rubbing on me.
Genuine question: A gentlemen whom is a close acquaintance asked if he could take me out on my belated birthday.
I politely declined as I'm not into being celebrated (working on that). As time passed, he told me that he was recommended a book and asked if we could read it together.
Is that considered being creative? I love to read btw, and thought it was different.
You're over thinking and yes that's creative.
Also, you could have let him take you out and it could have been a cute joke that it was "not a celebration." It looks like he worked to find another way to interact with you but don't shoot people down b/c YOU don't believe in "celebrating." It sounds like his intentions were just to spend time with you so maybe try not to make him jump through hoops to make that happen. Learn to counter the ask/offer and negotiate into something comfortable for yourself. For example, " Awe you want to take me out for my birthday? That's very nice but I don't really do b-day celebrations. I'd love to go out with you but can we just celebrate that it's Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday or just that we're alive?"
You could discuss the book while getting lunch.
