my dad used to sing me this song when I was little, I had no clue what he was talking about chribim chiribom thought he had made it up, then yesterday my neighbour had this up on youtube and I finally 50 years later I knew that this was a real song and where my father had borrowed this tune from, he was a holocaust survivor, hiding in the farmhouses in France for fear of being caught by the nazis. love you dad wherever you are!
Your Dad watches over you .
@@susansilverstein889 thanks Susan and thanks for commenting as it brought me back to this song (was thinking about it this week in my delusionary covid state...no worries all better:0)
May the memory and courage of your dad be an inspiration ! May he rest in peace. --Nidhin (India)

Dziękuję za piękną wiązankę żydowskich pieśni. Pozdrawiam serdecznie.
Love the Yiddish language and the music.
Ha. My parents spoke yiddish in the house. As a kid wanting to be totally normal, Yiddish was cringe (as the young folks say).
Chiribim, chiribom, chiribim bom bom bom bom... Very mood-uplifting !
Passé...souffrances...espoir...nostalgie...
Jours meilleurs...et enfin le sourire
The beauty of music is that it is a universal language that unite human souls regardless of differences in race, language or religion. I am an Arab Muslim, as it appears by my name, yet I like this song. Let's talk music, so that one day we might finally understand that we are all one race, human being, and belong to one religion, the religion of art. Art is our way to create a better world, where we all live like sisters and brothers. If yoy aggree, let us all breach the religion of art and speak its language.
Inşallah

I learned this in Hebrew school back in NYC in the 70's. 50 years laster? Lost all my Hebrew but still know this song by heart.
But this is in Yiddish, not Hebrew.
@@zeroyourhero1924 I feel dumb. I meant I forgot all the Hebrew. They didn't teach us Yiddish. In spite of that we sang this song in music class. I dug it. So it's amazing to hear this banger.
I wish i could sing along. Since my soul already does...
Makes me proud of my Yiddish heritage ❤️❤️❤️✡️
Ashkenazi…Yiddish is a language
I`m from Russia, jew and proud !
A lot of the Yiddish songs were played on the radio. I loved listening. My family, like many immigrant families preferred to learn and speak English Yiddish was saved for secrets that the children should not know.
My parents too. Now they're gone and I miss Yiddish.
So beautiful.
I am so overwhelmed with feelings.
Not felt anything for years and now feeling all these feelings. AMAZING
Beautiful Jewish music ! Einige muziek fur unze mishpacha !

And it is quite special for me. I was listening to it, when I was on the run with my mum-On the way to Romania.

Fajny medley - wspaniała rytmiczna muzyka
It kills me that I cannot sing along, Yiddish should be my language, but instead I can only listen to our joyous songs through RUclips
Learn Yiddish! It’s easier than you think!
Just start learning it. Is NEVER too late!

Hey there! Look up A Shturemvind, on the Yiddish Glory album. It's a Soviet Yiddish song that uses this melody, calling for a violent and eternal end to fascism. It's pretty spooky.
OMG it is so weird we have similar song who name “ aha- çilli bom “. Our song was made in the 90s . But I don’t know this song’s lyrics.
And I liked this song 👍🏻

No sé, me resulta tristísima.

BUT SIR, THIS IS AN AMERICAN SHIP!
Isnt the Hebrew value system contrary to jazz culture? Being part german and interested in Judaism makes it hard to ignore this song, but i feel guilty listening to it :/
No, I don't think so. Why would you think it contrary to Jewish values? The rabbis say that you will be called to account for every legitimate pleasure you have denied yourself. There are a number of Jews who have played jazz over the years. Benny Goodman being among the most notable. So listen away and don't worry about it.

Well, 38 people have no humor in their soul.
Where is this from? Eastern Europe?
Yeah. Klezmer was played by Eastern European Jews, that’s why it sounds similar to traditional slavic music.
