    Sophie, you covered good news and bad news in this interesting episode. To recap: first, the bad news is you miss relatives, things on the boat break, you work/edit about 6 out of 7 days, you must provision what is available, you have a very small bedroom, living room, den, and kitchen, and the weather dictates where and when you sail. Second, the good news is this is all the bad news there is. Oh, there is also the awesome benefit of having a great location! Yeah, location, location , location! Best, :¬) Webhead USA

    Great video! I just found y'all! I Gave some tips on last weeks video about the Covid Vaccine! Anyway, I grew up on Boats in Michigan, on the Great Lakes! My Home today, is my beloved Florida! Literally! Cruisers/Yachts and Fishing Boats Mostly! Some of my earliest memories are on my Family's Yacht! or my Grandfather's Fishing Boat. The YMCA used to have Two Week to Summer Long Camps, I attended, where they taught me about Sailing, in what are now known as "Hobi-Cats"! In Florida, i've been many places off shore! Even out off the Buoy from Key West, In2 International Waters towards Havana! Cost, thus far, as kept me from Full Time Sailing. Cost of the Boat to be specific! Any Suggestions? I understand SOME, have gotten "Lucky" on Craig's List even! On Land, I work On The Road, been in All 48 Contiguous States, in the US. I'm a US Military Vet, so I have also been to more than a few Overseas Destinations! So I'm " No Stranger" to Travel! Both Bonuses AND Pitfalls! I would LOVE to Sail Full Time. Any suggestions to "Get Into" a Sail Boat inexpensively!Have to start somewhere! :) Thank you! :)

      @@RyanSophieSailing My parents lived on Bonaire from '81-'86 (previously on Curacao, where I grew up). I visited the island many times back then and also later ('99-'00). The diving is spectacular as you have already experienced. You get spoiled with the diving there! The day sailing is also great (no swell) and there is no better way than to take your own yacht to a dive spot, unless you are in hurry to do 3 dives per day. Over time the island has grown in population and has now a bit more to offer, but it still is one of the few remaining frontiers according to a friend who lives on the island. Enjoy it while you can. Looking forward to where your next stop will be.

      Ryan and Sophie and the other full time sailors, cruisers, are doing the extreme-social-distancing very successfully. They are socializing within very safe social bubbles. They may easily continue to do so indefinitely, and the options regarding where to travel and visit will increase again as people everywhere that there is COVID see to their own effective social distancing, vaccinations when one has to be amongst vulnerable people where there is active COVID outbreaks and the likelihood of the transfer and infection exceed any risks of the vaccination regiments. Rhetorical: Ready for your booster shots yet. Don, Phoenix Arizona, USA. Q: Are more of us readying for sailing and adventure? Thanks for the quality videos Sophie and Ryan!

Would you, by any chance, have some laying around indicating which countries and anchorages were good? Did you always have to get a local sim or does a contract with roaming data work too? Just coming to this cold, it has similarities to RV living - small spaces, limited water supply, solar augmentation, constant travel, special tiny refrig oven washer toilet shower. Of course the “vehicle “ is a boat not a trailer or motor home. Differences are you can go anywhere, there aren’t these campgrounds that you pay rent to, you have much more freedom from laws and regulations. Are pirates a worry at all? Maybe just stay out of the north Indian Ocean. Just a quick take. Good sailing.

    • @peterbodifee
      @peterbodifee 3 года назад +1

      Typically anchorage is free, but moorings typically are not and docking in harbours or marinas certainly aren't. Some locations have the perception that sailors are super rich and rip you off. I recall in Spain (Costa Brava) tying up on a jetty (zero facilities!) used by local fisherman to avoid the marina fees and within minutes the harbour master representative showed up to collect money....

    You've mentioned Canada as an option. But can you enter Canada? It's beautiful ❤️ I am Canadian. But is it available to you? Foreign nationals on boats are not permitted last I saw. Covid. Ugh.

      As it is right now, we cannot enter, which is why we have 2 plans and mentioned that we would chose based on what is open! :) We would absolutely love to sail to Nova Scotia, but won't if we aren't allowed to.

      @@RyanSophieSailing I hope things open for you. Canada is fabulous (biased, I know). There's so much confusing and incorrect info floating around (😉), glad you're following and have plan B, C etc. Good luck. Enjoying your channel ❤️

    I am thinking you have all the responsibility as you would living on land, just a bit different things you have to do. Bills to pay, instead of rent you have to do upkeep, ect

    That lfe style is not for me, unless I've staff that can take care both of me and the boat. Minimum chef, captain, mechanic, doctor and some security.
