Sophie, you covered good news and bad news in this interesting episode. To recap: first, the bad news is you miss relatives, things on the boat break, you work/edit about 6 out of 7 days, you must provision what is available, you have a very small bedroom, living room, den, and kitchen, and the weather dictates where and when you sail. I recently got my first Covid vaccine shot here in Albuquerque and despite having grave vascular issues, I'm seeing rainbows. The world is very slowly opening up, which is glorious to behold. I hope everyone out there gets their dose. Please stay safe both of you!
Improvement suggestion: bladder tank to expand your water capacity. The not fancy one are reasonably priced and you can only use/fill them when convenient.
Wonderful video! Great editing and content kept my attention. Since I hate cold climates (Grew up on Long Island NY) I wouldn’t even think of spending a Winter in Canada. Too bad the boat insurance is so high during Hurricane Season as it really limits your choices.
Great video! I just found y'all! I Gave some tips on last weeks video about the Covid Vaccine! Anyway, I grew up on Boats in Michigan, on the Great Lakes! My Home today, is my beloved Florida! Literally! Cruisers/Yachts and Fishing Boats Mostly! Some of my earliest memories are on my Family's Yacht! or my Grandfather's Fishing Boat. The YMCA used to have Two Week to Summer Long Camps, I attended, where they taught me about Sailing, in what are now known as "Hobi-Cats"! In Florida, i've been many places off shore! Even out off the Buoy from Key West, In2 International Waters towards Havana! Cost, thus far, as kept me from Full Time Sailing. Cost of the Boat to be specific! Any Suggestions? I understand SOME, have gotten "Lucky" on Craig's List even! On Land, I work On The Road, been in All 48 Contiguous States, in the US. I'm a US Military Vet, so I have also been to more than a few Overseas Destinations! So I'm " No Stranger" to Travel! Both Bonuses AND Pitfalls! I would LOVE to Sail Full Time. Any suggestions to "Get Into" a Sail Boat inexpensively!Have to start somewhere! :) Thank you! :)

Don't give up too soon on Bonaire. The RUclips channel "The Adventures of Tarka" arrived there much as you describe - not intending to stay. Bryan ended up staying there quite a while with great results.
@@RyanSophieSailing My parents lived on Bonaire from '81-'86 (previously on Curacao, where I grew up). I visited the island many times back then and also later ('99-'00). The diving is spectacular as you have already experienced. You get spoiled with the diving there! The day sailing is also great (no swell) and there is no better way than to take your own yacht to a dive spot, unless you are in hurry to do 3 dives per day. Over time the island has grown in population and has now a bit more to offer, but it still is one of the few remaining frontiers according to a friend who lives on the island. Enjoy it while you can. Looking forward to where your next stop will be.

They may easily continue to do so indefinitely, and the options regarding where to travel and visit will increase again as people everywhere that there is COVID see to their own effective social distancing, vaccinations when one has to be amongst vulnerable people where there is active COVID outbreaks and the likelihood of the transfer and infection exceed any risks of the vaccination regiments. I have no plans to ever go sailing but this video gave a great idea of life on a sailboat I do have plans to buy a unsinkable trimaran from Indonesia they build them from hard polyethylene I will use the boat just for day and fishing trips when I move to the Philippines

They are SUPER HARD to find, but our friends at Catamaran Supply are working really hard to become a dealer of them. We bought ours at a chandlery in Martinique, and had a couple of friend deliver it to Bonaire (that’s how hard it is to get your hands on them). We’re hoping to soon have a link to share with you all! :)
I found out that installing a motorcycle tyre tube behind the washing machine and pump it good to account for any space between the washing machine and the hull help anonymously in stabilizing the whole thing...
i found you guys trough Andy S. - it would be nice if you share your insurance "journey" , we are also europeans, own a grp production boat, sail med and maybe think of crossing. we just switched to pantaenius .. also if you did some reaserch on the options and cost of bringing the boat back. good luck !

Would you, by any chance, have some laying around indicating which countries and anchorages were good? Did you always have to get a local sim or does a contract with roaming data work too? We are looking at the Med currently, Spain and Italy (Sicily too) in particular. We will of course get a wifi booster. :) Would be eternally grateful!

Sorry if this is a repeat comment, can you tell me when you are in different countries do you carry different currency or do you do a currency exchange depending upon where you are? Also, how has the pandemic affected you ? Oh yeah, where are you on the globe at this point in time? I am in the Southeast USA, great videos your lifestyle seems like a dream that most people would love to do I but believe that people doing this together would have to have good chemistry and really care about each other which is obvious by watching your videos you may have a small home but your backyard is the world how great is that?!!
I have noticed that yacht people joke all the time about boats. One is: Going sailing is actually fixing boats in exotic places. You've probably all heard it before :)
Unless you stay a bit away from the tropics. Then it is like taking a cold shower in foul weather gear will ripping apart paper money in big nominations. ;-)
Just coming to this cold, it has similarities to RV living - small spaces, limited water supply, solar augmentation, constant travel, special tiny refrig oven washer toilet shower. Of course the “vehicle “ is a boat not a trailer or motor home. Differences are you can go anywhere, there aren’t these campgrounds that you pay rent to, you have much more freedom from laws and regulations. Are pirates a worry at all? Maybe just stay out of the north Indian Ocean. Just a quick take. Good sailing.
Typically anchorage is free, but moorings typically are not and docking in harbours or marinas certainly aren't. Some locations have the perception that sailors are super rich and rip you off. I recall in Spain (Costa Brava) tying up on a jetty (zero facilities!) used by local fisherman to avoid the marina fees and within minutes the harbour master representative showed up to collect money....
Not much of an ice rosk in most of Nova Scotia - perhaps you are thinking of NewFoundland and maybe parts of Quebec. Living in SouthWest Nova Scotia it is quite pleasant tho not in the hot range
I live on Vancouver Island on West Coast Canada and no Ice Packs. Never gets below 0 and most of year is 18. Best most beautiful cruising in the world. Covid restrictions foreign boats most likely until mid June as we are well on our way to full inoculation. If you can verify you have been vaccinated you may be allowed into Country.
"We even have induction stove", I think its enough for me from here, not even speaking about growing a family with 2 kids, a perfect way to become a slave of your own lamp.
My annoyance is banking.! All the British banks offer paperless online banking, but......!! I can not get a credit/debit card account that doesn't send letters to an address on a regular basis, I use the cards for purchasing online. Thankfully my brother gets my "junk mail" I suppose it is more an inconvenience.

As it is right now, we cannot enter, which is why we have 2 plans and mentioned that we would chose based on what is open! :) We would absolutely love to sail to Nova Scotia, but won't if we aren't allowed to.

I live on Vancouver Island on West Coast Canada and no Ice Packs. Never gets below 0 and most of year is 18. Best most beautiful cruising in the world. Covid restrictions foreign boats most likely until mid June as we are well on our way to full inoculation. If you can verify you have been vaccinated you may be allowed into Country.

The beta is geolocked so you can’t use away from home. Not enough satellites deployed yet.

As it is right now, we cannot enter, which is why we have 2 plans and mentioned that we would chose based on what is open! :) We would absolutely love to sail to Nova Scotia, but won't if we aren't allowed to.
