🤗SWEETIES! Thanks SOOOOO much for the de-li-cious food, we're still enjoying it, it is sooo much! And we're very happy to see how you've made it, so we can make it ourselves and remember these first days of baby-on-board life! Big little hug from Evi and us 🥰
Sophie, Your character and kind heart are definitely top tier. I'll call this episode "Sophie gets a gold brick in her good karma basket" And.... thanks to you now I'm hungry!!!! :-) Cheers!
Food prep is so important when you are embarking on a trip, particularly if you get crap weather. Spot on with the 5 days worth. Yours is the first channel to discuss this important issue.
Fabulous, Sophie you should start a cooking on the water programme. You comment with much talent and a dry sense of humour, it is a delight. Ryan you are a lucky man. Very educational, great cooking mixed with laughter and love...Perfect.
I second everyone who has encouraged Sophie to put out a cookbook. You have a very loyal audience that would snap up such a publication. What better way for a sea voyager to make a few bucks!
Thank you so much Diane! :) That cookbook has been on my "to-do list" since 2019. For our next big offshore passage, I'll make sure to take nice pictures of the dishes so I can put them together in a book!
@@RyanSophieSailing I am in for the cookbook as well. My son is a chef in Paris and I do pretty well in the house, but making do on a boat is a different issue
That is one of the nicest things I've seen on RUclips so far! When I retire after my kids graduate and I make it you the water, I'm hoping that I make friends with the caliber of people that you are.
That’s it! I’m looking for a French crew mate... As a Canadian from Montréal, I enjoy my food... and as much as I’m not a bad cook myself, I do know that cooking on a boat (a.k.a. Cooking with small appliances) is no small feat. Your enthousiasme and good heart speak mountains as to your true nature. Bravo ma chère!
I have learned more from this channel than any other by far, even after 20,000 miles at sea myself. Thanks guys. And Sophie you are a born entertainer, (and cook)
Wow fantastique!
You're truly one of a kind. Caring, Kind, Funny and incredibly entertaining. On another note, it would be awesome to if you released a cook book - these dishes look amazing!
Eventually, I will :) With our next crossing coming up, I'll make sure to take good photos of the dishes to illustrate the cookbook, and I will take the time to properly write it!
Not sailors but we do travel often with our RV. We love good food and for two it is often easier to prepare meals in quantities larger then we can use in one meal. We package leftovers and freeze them to use during our travels. It works out great. The small freezer in the RV is full of good meals when we leave and the refrigerator is full of fresh foods to supplement our prepared meals. Life is good. Love your channel.
Love the background music...it sounded like I was in a Parisian bistro while a lovely french chef prepared a culinary delight for my evening meal du jour...brao! :)
sophie, your the absolute best narrator, even without that irish accent. LOL and always like ryan when hes talkin boat mechanics and such. dont know why dont have 100K subscribers, but keep the vids coming. when you get your paperwork straightened out your invited to Cape Cod all the best Ed
I love how real you are! New sub! Meal prep is life onboard a boat…any extra time in port is cooking and stashing the meals ahead! Salsa is my sea sick food…plain chips and salsa…heaven
Well Organized Kitchen...No Surprise 👍 And Ryan takes advantage of Rain to Wash Boat...No Surprise 👍 I’ve been binging on Old Episodes & Polar Seal & Crew have certainly “Grew into those Shoes” 😎 And that’s a Good Thing 👍 Eh?😎
I love the way you show how it is possible to live onboard Polar Seal and follow your dreams. I’m about a third of the way through all your videos and I find it very helpful as we have just purchased our own Oceanis 40 but in a 3 cabin version. Since it is stuck up in Sydney while we are all locked down here in Victoria and New South Wales, I’m using your videos and ideas to start my wish list of upgrades… water maker, battery upgrades, davits, solar panels ….. also your fly screen for the companionway has caught my attention as well. Keep it up!
Your a goodie Sophie. And your a lucky man Ryan. I love French cooking. I have friends in Aux en Provence who I love. But my comment is mostly to say I think all French people are the same Sophie.
Watched it again! That was a lovely thing to do. I have to watch the stew making in slow motion, i love the idea of a creamy stew. Feel free to make a curry another day!
When I get out there on the water I hope to find friends like you and, more importantly, I hope to BE a friend like you! You're truly an inspiration. Your kind heart and thoughtfulness are wonderful!
It’s such a great feeling to have meals ready to go. I tend to make to much but somehow it always gets eaten. What a beautiful jester to give the gift of food to new parents. You are a sweetheart
Good episode. Imaginative dishes. I would add some spreadable salads like tuna salad or chicken salad that can be spread between two slices of bread quickly without needing to heat it. Good for rough weather and quick no-fuss snacks. :-)
I have to say I am happy to find that my experience onboard our sailboat is not unique. Many times I have found myself cooking up a storm while my partner heads topside to scrub the deck because it’s raining! Thank you Ryan and Sofie! We are not strange after all!
Im the the host on my boat and I love to cook. This video is very informational for are future travels. Thank you for making it. Happy sailing. Sv Arya.
We are having lasagne tonight and every time I make it I think of you, Sophie. You taught me how to make a much better bechemel than the one I had been making for about 35 years! You are a brilliant cook. Where’s the cookery book? 😁
Sophie your a star 💫 witty, funny, thoughtful and kind. Good food planning for passage making is essential to limit time thrashing about below. Very talented 👏🏻
Beautiful gift Sophie and just looking at the ingredients, I 'get' how tasty they must be. I haven't bought my own cruiser yet, because of Covid19. However, I'm going to treat myself and my friends to your dishes. Love all that you cooked, however your stew looks mouth wateringly fab :)
You need a Mr. D. Thermal cooker. Gas & electric saver (15 minutes max cooking time) when doing stews and long cook stuff. Can be used for loads of great recipes when under passage unattended.
I love your channel! I just made homemade granola bars last night, and I'm munching on carrot sticks and hummus myself. Looking forward to the day when we share an anchorage with you two.
Sophie (and Ryan), I started watching your channel for the sailing and your fantastic sense of humor and I keep finding myself learning so much about cooking! What a bonus this is! Too bad RUclips doesn't have smell-o-vision or taste-o-vision....
Keep up the great work! I really like that you keep each clip, short and sweet and diversified. Really makes a difference. And your humor, a real special touch!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this vlog. You are delightfully cheerful and boost my spirit every time. I patiently await each new episode and your love for life is infectious. The love you inject into the food offers more energy than the food itself. Thank you to both of you for bringing such wonderful energy to us.
That’s so true,. The ovens on the boat doesn’t get very hot. I had a difficult time cooking Tater Tots which need oven temps to be around 400 or 425 degrees. My RV stove does much better getting hot.
Great video (I think I’m gonna make some lasagna tomorrow! 😋) and wow I think it’s amazing how up to date your videos are. I can only imagine the work behind it! Thanks for sharing your journey! Love being a part of it :)
I'm new to your channel, that was a really kind thing you did. It's a lot of effort to cook so much in such a small space. And especially the clean up. x
