The story is honestly a standout. I was fully invested in the corporate head butting, the mystery of the coral and the slow unraveling of the main characters history and motivations like Walter, Ayre and Carla.

@@OtepRalloma Honestly, if Devil May Cry counts, then absolutely Resident Evil. Publishers loudly proclaimed survival horror was dead after the double whammy of RE6, Dead Space 3, and Silent Hills' cancellation. Now all three of these franchises are back in the conversation like they never left. Really most Capcom releases have changed the conversation in some way.
But I do think Baldur's Gate 3 is the perfect example. Can't tell you how much the Skyrim generation would just tune out the moment they saw the isometric perspective in trailers for Divinity, Wasteland, etc. And now those same players dive right in to the unknown? I don't have an explanation for that. Heck, I played Black Isle CRPGs back in the day and I was not hyped at all for BG3. I was expecting to not hear about it even once past launch day.

I love EZA reviews. They don't come out when the game does. They come out when they're ready so that the review is as in depth as possible. Some other reviews feel like the writer played through maybe the first few levels and just knocked out a review but you never feel that way with EZA. Plus, you have that anticipation to see what they think about a game you've been either looking forward to or enjoying.

I work long hours and I can say AC6 is a great game if you don't have a lot of time to invest in games anymore. You always feel yourself improving and learning new tactics pending the map and it's so easy to just jump into a battle or two no matter where you left off trying to improve your grade or just testing out different mech setups... Just a well polished game that will keep players coming back for years.

    @Ayoul Год назад +1

I really agree with the positives and I'm having lots of fun with the game, but I feel like this review doesn't mention any of the negatives that other games would get criticized for.
The most jarring one for me is the invisible walls. You sometimes replay levels for different missions, but now some arbitrary invisible wall is blocking you where you could go before. Sometimes those walls are in places that the level art/design imply should be accessible (because it used to be in another mission). Wouldn't be as much of an issue if the game also didn't have some collectibles and optional fights out of the main path. The invisible walls are inconsistent as well. You're allowed to go to weird places in a level that has no reward or enemy at the end of it. Those invisible walls also exist in some boss arena's, but the bosses are not limited by them which feels unfair. There's a clip of Kyle dying because of it. Don't get me wrong, it's fine to have them to some extent when you can basically fly around, but it could've been more tight.
I'm also surprised by how bland some of the missions are. In some reused environment, go forward, open door, kill all robots, mission clear. Those feel like afterthoughts.
I also have to say that although for your own AC, weapon choice makes a good difference in how you yourself approach some fights, I don't feel this difference from the receiving end (exceptions being bosses of course). Basically, except for enemies with frontal shields (and even then vertical missiles and melee weapons apply to these guys), it's all about shooting everything you have the moment the cooldown is up and as long as your boost is on you'll be fine. It's something that I haven't found to be an issue in previous From Soft games. It ties back to the last point, but I just don't feel like I have to change my loadout much (maybe I stumbled into a good one?). There's very rarely moments where you run out of ammo too. Longer missions just refill it at some point so you don't run out.
Again though, still a great fun game. I could go way longer about the things I do enjoy the game does well. I just think FromSoft themselves set a higher standard for quality. It's surprising to me that this would receive a similar score to something like Sekiro or Elden Ring (all reviewed by Brad) for example.

Definitely an acquired-taste, Armored Core and Mech sims, tends to be. Best to think about these games as vehicle sims with fictional vehicles. Try Ace Combat 7 Skies Unknown or MechWarrior 5. Both come highly recommended but you have to like spending time with loadouts and builds.

I feel much like when sekiro came out, this game is gonna alienate some people who think it’ll be mech souls. And I had that feeling for the first hour or so but just like sekiro, when the combat finally clicks this game earns it’s 9/10. Not to mention the additive of ng+x3 adding new missions, bosses and weapons, and you’ve got yourself a worthwhile purchase.

AC6 is the most accomodating of all with
    Training missions
    AC test with quick swap
    Repayable missions for farming credits
Contextual help guide for all the parameters
I'd recommend AC6 to any gamer, and hopefully they'll have a good time.

The sheer feelings and humanity in the story is actually shocking, given the lack of actual human faces. You get attached to the various good people you meet, and grow hatred for the scumbags that make the world worse off. In the end, you try to find a way to make a difference, one way or another.

I beat the last boss of chapter 1 and continued playing then stopped and booted it up again to find me back to the start of that last mission. People way further than me have had this happened to them too not once but multiple times. At this point I'm not playing anymore until there's a fix in case it happens again to me.

This game personally 8 or 8.5 for me. Levels are a little bit boring. They are just too short and the level design is not great. Few of them were memorable. Also story could be handled better. In order to get true ending you need to do 3 play through. There are differences in each playthrough but I wish they did it like nier automata.

A game that can be knocked out in a weekend is simply a lot easier to review than a game that takes 3 weeks of overtime. There's only a handful of us to try to cover everything. We've also given BG 3 a ton of coverage, including posting our first impressions as soon as the embargo hit. -Bloodworth

This is your job though. There are solo/duo youtubers that manage to have reviews up on their channel and talk about most of the games that many people have an interest in. You are a team and maybe should start considering to offload the workload to others if Brad doesn´t have time to review BG3 in this case. I know you guys don´t respond well to constructive criticism but the decline on your patreon speaks for itself, I wish you guys the best but things need to change or the future doesn´t look to bright at the moment. @@EasyAllies

Our job is not just writing reviews, there's a ton of stuff people have to be involved with, from previews to streams, to shows, to patron rewards, to event coverage, logistics, etc. I often don't get a chance to clear my head and start playing a game until nearly midnight, even if it's something I do want to review.
If no one signs up to review a game, I can't force them to work overtime for weeks on end. Huber wanted to stream his BG3 playthrough, which is also valuable. Damiani has no interest in the game, and was on deck to review Starfield. I was out of town when it released. That's the end of our options for writers.
Again, it's not like we haven't covered the game, we just haven't completed it and produced a written review. We've discussed it on three separate podcasts, we've streamed it for more than 25 hours, and we have additional streams on the way. Everyone's trying their best to do as much as we can, but that coverage isn't always going to come in the format of a review. -Bloodworth

I ´m hearing a lot of excuses, but to each their own I guess. The reviews are not the problem here, it is how you guys have prioritized your content, way more time streaming which is fine, but maybe you guys also need to take a look at the important numbers. Missing out on creating content (deep-dive into some of this years biggest games) for your RUclips channel, that could have brought in so many new viewers for EZA. Unfortunately a missed opportunity in my opinion. @@EasyAllies

Times like this make me miss ben so much. He definitely would’ve reviewed it. I need to know his opinion on so many games. He would’ve loved this game like he loved Divinity 2.
