I was in my mid-teens at that time, in the mid-1970s. What triggered my liking for early R&R was the 1973 movie "American Grafitti," set in 1962, and my nostalgia for the USA, where I was born and returned to in 1975. (I grew up in England, my mom's homeland. Long story.) In the 70s, too, there was a major nostalgia craze for 50s music, with movies like "Graffiti" and retro bands like Sha Na Na singing it on TV. The TV show "Happy Days" was another reaction to this nostalgia. I'm now a fan of the Beatles, especially their early stuff (which came to the states circa 1964, when I moved to England with my mom and siblings when I was 7.)
