This song was written in 1935, the year Elvis was born. He loved it as a child & even sang it at a State Fair talent show when he was 10 years old, standing on a chair to sing into the microphone. Came in 5th if you can believe it. He won $5 & free tickets to the fair rides. It was his first public performance (aside from singing in church). He also sang it at his school talent show when he was 15. Got an encore that time. Shades of things to come. I miss y'all doing Elvis reactions. Please do more! 🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵✨️🩵
OMG! This song makes me cry every time I hear it! Such a beautiful song! Elvis won a prize for this song when he was 12. I believe he came in 4th or 5th place!
This is such a meaningful and touching song. Many folks can relate to this story. Elvis sings it beautifully. Very nice reaction. Please do more Elvis songs. He is still loved worldwide and will never be forgotten. 🎶⚡🇿🇦
this song makes me cry. i miss my dogs more than a lot of my human family members.if i can't see my dogs again in HEAVEN then i don't want to be there either.
Mr mferg I couldn’t agree with you more.. but I have to state emphatically that my dogs had more heart, soul and love in them than most people I know so I believe you will see your dogs in heaven brother!
Aww the memories Christmas Day 2023💔🐕💔🥹🙏 Our family surrounded you🫂💯 we played your fav song.. we sang!!🎶 we laughed!!😂 we cried!!😭 then we said goodbye!!!❤❤
Written and recorded by Red Foley. Red was Pat Boone's father-in-law. Elvis sang this song with no accompaniment as a ten year old and got 5th place or something like that at a fair. I have heard Elvis' version dozens of times, but I still have to dab my eyes.
My first dog, Frenchie, was a French poodle. My parents got him when they first found out that I would make it through my first heart surgery, only being 18 days old. He passed away when I was 10 years old. He would never leave any of the kids side if they were sick and he always protected us. Such a smart and valuable dog. I think of him often.
Hey Guys glad to see you react to Elvis again, this goes way back, and this was a song he sang at his school as a child that got him in a singing contest. I think he was around 9. He sang every style of music you could think of. He can bring you to tears, or make you laugh. I hope you'll listen to his great classic "Danny Boy". Which is the most moving thing you ever heard, he recorded in his last years in the Jungle Room at Graceland, his voice was beautiful right up to the end of his life, thanks for this great reaction, glad to see you both doing well. Be Blessed
A MUST HEAR often overlooked/forgotten Classic & My personal favorite by hilm,, Elvis Presley "Clean Up Your Own Backyard" 🔥 From His Movie: "The Trouble With Girls"
Oh thanks so much. Elvis sings this so wonderfully. His emotions is so right. Makes us feel as it's us with our fav dog when young. I remember this from when I was younger. Then didn't hear it untill a few months ago. Now playing it over and over. Elvis.only he does justice to this beautiful.heartfelt song. Sob. Sob !!! We are crying too. Elvis. So beautiful !!
... There are singers who are good! Then there are singers who are very good! ...And then there is ELVIS, the FIRST and BEST singer of all time!! ...His charisma is still unsurpassed today! ...A singer for ETERNITY!! ✨💎✨🕺🏻🕯Thank You
When Elvis sung this song for his high school in his senior year I believe, he got a standing ovation. Great reaction! A video titled "Animals in Heaven " by the late Pastor Jack Van Impe and wife Rexella gives irrefutable Bible based proof that our pets go to Heaven.
I can't listen to this song very often. I cry and cry. Elvis said he had a dog that he to be put down because he had mange. So he is probably reliving that event when he sings this song. He sings it with so much compassion. Thank you for your reaction. So hard to lose a pet!😢
as a child in the 50S had a dog named shep. they shot and killed it. cuz i threw to much corn to the hogs. didn't know there was a song till i heard it at my aunt's. could not listen all the way through. still can't. but thank you for playing it. haven't thought about that for many yrs. he said well ain't you gonna say good by to your dog. i never said a word and he laughed. but i heard the shot. i'm in my 80S and i expect to see him (shep) again one day. thank you for playing it.
When the quality of life is no longer there -that's what my vet told me years ago with my last two dogs. I knew he was right and that it was time for me to do the right thing for them. Both were in their teens and had live a very fulfilling life.
I had a Siberian huskie her name was fantasia .when she was 6 years old she got cancer and the vet said he would have to put her down and when he said that it felt like my heart was going to explode.i loved her more than i have ever loved anything on this planet.she is buried in my yard and when i die i told my wife to have me cremated and sprinkled my ashes where she is buried so we could be together again
Hey if you want to weep please do "Danny Boy" by Elvis, get out the Kleenex. but it's not about a boy and his dog, it's about a father to his son going off to war, in Ireland. God that tears your heart out. Elvis could make you happy, sad, sensual, or spiritual, just so many layers. Thanks for this reaction. Happy Holidays .⛄❄🎁✨🎀
Just think that was 1956. It is still real today. Guys got to try. I love me tender live for Las Vegas. Really like to see your guys reaction to that 1.Thank you for memory lanes
Beautiful, poignant song. Really appreciate your reactions. Btw, as late as the 1980's (if not later than that) it was common practice for owners to shoot their pets if the pet was in pain and there was no recourse. It was considered an act of kindness by the owner who dearly loved the animal rather than having the pet 'put down' by someone the pet didn't know.
Exactly, Asia, it never gets easy. Breaks my heart every time. 😢 Right now our dog, Krystal is going on nine. She’s is healthy , but you never know. We lost our beagle, Chase, a couple years ago and each time they pass you lose a little bit of ourselves, I think. Give a listen to Chris Stapleton, Maggies Song. Bring the tissues.
Elvis always the best. He sang this song in a talent contest at the Tupelo state fair when he was a child. He won 5th place and got passes to the rides. His Mom spanked him when she found out he rode rides he wasn't allowed to
My late Mom used to tell me that her father would not let her listen to Elvis growing up because a lot of parents then saw him as a "threat". She was born in 1940 so she was a teenager when he came on the scene. One day he either heard or she played this record for him and from that moment on, Elvis was OK in his book.
ir gets harder every time. 67 yrs old and have two older dogs. worry everyday. not sure if anybody will be able to stand me after they are gone. just 3 old dogs here. .just having to face the facts that these will be my last two
Sorry, cannot listen. This song breaks me up more than any other. And that was before I lost my own long-time companion a few months ago. I'm crying just thinking about it. Elvis sings this song too well.
I know this song well and I just can't listen to it. I've lost too many beloved old dogs in my life to be able to cope with hearing it again lol. He sings it beautifully though.
------ Traditional American folk song, example that Elvis was not a blues-only artist, he did Country in his early days, as well as pop crooning (his greatest love). I don't think this songwriting holds up that great today. Not intended to be a hit.
@@deborahcornell171 not sure about greatest, but he did love Gospel. Elvis' biggest idol was Dean Martin. He desperately wanted to be another "Dean" and a pop crooner. @@HeavenlyPresley-Tonya Well, you're focusing only on a sliver of what makes Elvis..... Yes, Elvis didn't set out to be a rocker or a blues guy, he indeed wished to be a pop crooner, in his own words, (read the Jerry Hopkins bio from early 1970s as well as Jerry Schilling's remarks, and the Elvis Kurt Russell movie). If one only sees the Baz biopic (as most current generations have), then I can understand why you have that opinion, but Elvis from the very beginning has defied labels and recorded country, bluegrass, blues & pop. This very song is testimony to that. As the years go by, the other genres are being dropped from his biography and Elvis is being recreated to be a blues only artist, which wasn't the case. I've been tracking Elvis life & career for more than 4 decades, and he is so much more than just blues, albeit that may be what some folks like best, which is fine. But we shouldn't recreate Elvis, let him be what he is, an everything artist. His lifetime music catalog speaks volumes, as blues was only a fraction of what he was influenced by & what he recorded. But again, Baz had a monolithic vision for that recent biopic, and it was to reconcile elvis with the community and not allow other genres into the evolution of American Music, which is a cardinal sin, because Elvis & our music came from the blending of music styles over the years, it did not come from a single source. That was another factor in Elvis' (older biography) was the culmination of White Country Music and Black R&B, coming up with his own unique blend, thereby Desegregating our music.
One Of Michael Jackson's favorite Elvis songs.. Google Jackson 5 at Elvis concert in 1974.. Elvis introduces them, and you hear Michael yell out, "Sing Ole Shep Elvis'..
