His rehearsals are always great, because you get to see him up close & very personal, rather than his stage persona ….. & he is just so gorgeous in this particular rehearsal …. Well, he’s gorgeous in any rehearsal, concert & interview, but this one, where he is rehearsal ‘Don’t’ which was written for him in 19576, when he was 20, & was a Number One Hit for him for several weeks in 1957, when he was the world’s very first Superstar.
He recorded this song for his wife Priscilla, who had left him for the karate instructor she was having an affair with, taking their 4 year old daughter Lisa Marie with her to another state. Elvis absolutely doted on his little girl, & he never got over his divorce & the absence of his beloved daughter, though he of course had her staying with him when he wasn’t touring or doing his residency at Las Vegas for two months of the year …. Two (sometimes 3) concerts every night, seven days a week without a break, for a month twice a year. Tragically, she was staying with him when he passed in August 1977, & Lisa Marie has now also passed in her early fifties last year. I always enjoy your Elvis reactions.
