- I'm using the insta360 link webcam into the obsbot uvc usb to hdmi converter box feed into the ATEM Mini Extreme ISO. with the Rode wireless go ii for audio on an 8 frame delay to sync audio.
Good webcam for the classroom and for education purposes. I can also pan the camera down to the desk below when doing instructions.

Eli here, Please go find my latest video about the new OBSBOT Tail Air! It's very similar to the insta360 link but looks a lot more versatile. Please go sign up for the email list using my link. I only need 60 people to sign up, and OBSBOT will send me a unit for evaluation. www.obsbot.com/event/tail-air-preheat?code=dc82220294734454
Thanks for the video. It’s been hard to find videos where people are using the insta360 Link as a room camera on a long cable, and how it is fed into either a video switcher or direct USB.
you're a cool teacher. i've been software for 15 years and you make me want to switch to become a teacher
It is a lot of fun and very rewarding!
Oh WOW Eli... Totally loved your short video. I am in the process of "attempting" to set up both a wood working and a cooking video recording setup.
I do in person and remote consulting if you ever need personalized help. www elitheelectronicsguy com
Interesting setup. Thanks for sharing. I like the idea of attaching the markers to magnets.
Thanks, make sure to subscribe. I have an update video coming soon using a different camera.
that's such a good featured webcam. nice solution you did with the ATEM. have fun!
Great video. I Really liked your setup, rad classroom. What kind of usb c cable are you using to connect the insta360 link?
I also need a long cable and I would not like to buy the wrong one.
I don't know it was a generic usb c cable. It was on Amazon under a long usb c cable for a VR headset.
With you being a qualified voice in the cybersecurity community, I also have the Link, but quite a few people have expressed concern in debates regarding the level of privacy issues that come with accepting the software. What are your thoughts? Should I uninstall the software or am I good to keep it? Your thoughts as somebody who specializes in this field?
All I will say is beyond initial setup I don't use the software. With how this is setup with the usb to hdmi into the atem I'm not using insta360 software.
@@elitheelectronicsguy thanks. I deleted the software and just use it in OBS. Was waiting to speak with somebody who is actually qualified in this field before deciding to reinstall it or leave it off my M1 Mac mini. Thanks!!!
I ordered recently...Good Luck to you.
Hey Eli, quick question. With the OBSBOT UVC to HDMI Adapter, is there any way to actually control the gimbal movement? Or is it basically locked to the AI gestures only?
hey , coud u link the adapter u using to connect the insta360 ?! Thank you !
Don't understand your question
I can see you really care to do the best you can for your students, and you have good equipment, but I would recommend that you also teach them that cables hanging from their plugs, strung all over, etc. will eventually fail. Good cable management is as important as knowing how to use the equipment. Not a criticisms, but a suggestion. Appreciate what teachers do.
I 100% agree! We are not allowed to be inside the drop ceiling for this install and we only had 30ft of usb c cable.
Awesome solution. Thanks!
Very cool, how about the power ? Do we need power cable connect to insta360 link?
It gets the power from the obsbot hdmi adapter. That is powered by a usb c port from the pc
Is there a special setting on the insta360 so that it works with the converter? - I don't get a signal! have also tested the TAO - also does not work Thanks in advance for the feedback
Awesome set up. May I ask the link for the long usb c? cable you used? I have been trying ot find this for the longest time. Thanks in advance.
Is it lag? The audio? Can we set the quality 4k or 1080p without insta360 link controller?
Yes, with the hdmi adapter, I had to add an 8 frame audio delay.
So you use UVC to HDMI converter. Can you still control pan, tilt and zoom with insta's controlling software?
No pc control just via the hand gestures
How did you mount the webcam? what usb c cable are you running from the webcam back to your computer or item?
All on Amazon, the pole is a "ground spike stake mount," and then I used a "cctv t-bar" attachment to the drop ceiling. I don't know the cable. I just searched a long VR usb c cable. If it can handle a VR setup, it should be able to run the camera.
I didn't get the out of sync issue. Can I solve with Atem itself in some way when I record using the Insta360 through the USB to HDMI converter? Sync it's important. How can I manage this issue? Thank you
In the ATEM you can do the frame delay option.
@@elitheelectronicsguy Thank you! Do you have some online courses I can purchase concerning with cyber security?
Dear Eli, I’ve copied your Setup.
Are you also having flickering after 1/2-1h?
The only help is to unplug the USB. Are you familiar with this issue?
I don't know, I don't have that issue. Make sure you have a good power supply
Dear Eli, does still function with everything updated? I’ve just bought your setup attached to my Atem Mini but it would not respond. Any special tricks of sequence to start everything?
No special trick. The camera was up to date when I plugged it into the converter box. Not all usb c to usb c cables are the same, I would recommend finding a long one ment for vr headsets. Try using the original cable to see if that works. Make sure you have the camera in the correct usb c port on the converter and not in the usb a port. Last on your atem mini try using hdmi port 1 with the converter. Let me know if that doesn’t work post a video of the setup.
We're going to test a setup using dual RODE mics, one with the instructor and another mounted on the ceiling for capturing student voice. They come with a mixer hardware as a part of a receiver. We will post the result here soon.
That should work just fine. You gain maybe low on the student mic
Cool tips, can you hook 2 insta360link webcams at the same time, I have 2 different view angles and switch views ?
Yes you could but you would need 2 uvc to hdmi adapters.
can i flip the camera?
With this setting you wouldn't be able to flip the image
@@elitheelectronicsguy okay,, thanks for the reply
But how do you switch the camera on in this setup? Mine enters off/ privacy mode pretty instantly after being plugged into the obsbot
Didn't have that issue mine stays on. I would check your usb cable.
Where did you get your multi view (ATIP extreme?)? You spoke so fast I couldn't hear it. Thank you.
Yes from the ATEM Extreme ISO
This is sik! Thanks for sharing! 🙏🙏🙏
i'd like to know if you can control the camara at that distance on your computer.
what about a longer distance ? my main concern is the possibility to control the insta360 on my.
There is no control of the camera. It doesn't plug into the computer it bypass the PC and goes into the converter box then into the ATEM
@@elitheelectronicsguy the UVC to HDMI converter has a free USB socket, right? Perhaps that is your way to connect Link to a computer AND also to Atem simultaeously?
@@kai_jokela see my other response to your other post. This could damage it as both the converter usb a & the PC would both be usb host ports.
Can i connect two or three of these cams into OBS for multicam stream? Does anyone know?
I would think you could but I don't have multiple cameras to test with
Pretty cool. How much is the total investment?
Around $2k
Does the uvc allow for the camera control. And is there any other uvc’s that work with it as well.
Not that I can tell at face value. There is a usb port for control of the obsbot with there usb remote. But I don't have one and don't know if it would work with the insta360 link. As for other usb cameras, I have one I'll test with
@@elitheelectronicsguy Thanks
Stop guessing, just plug a USB cable between the converter and PC and find out the answer. Then we will all know if it connects, and won't ask you the same question again and again.
@@kai_jokela I won't be doing that as both the devices and the PC will be outputting 5v has the are both usb host ports. So it most likely won't work and could break it.
@@elitheelectronicsguy I have both the OBSBOT and the insta360 link. The OBSBOT remote only works with the the specific camera that it is made for. I have the OBSBOT tiny remote for the OBSBOT tiny camera.
Eli, can I choose a subject to follow, if I have more than one person in front of?
You can't choose, the subject holds there hand with a flat palm out to lock on. It will normally stay with the original person it started tracking but sometimes follows the wrong person. If I had to put a number on it I would say 95% of the time it stays locked on correctly.
On a multiple person shot, can you switch the tracking between different person by using flat hand to activate / deactivate tracking, then activating with another person?
@@MrDjodan yes that will work. You have to turn on all the tracking features in the software on a pc first. You can also choose the auto zoom. Save the setting then disconnect from the PC and plug into hdmi adapter and all "ai" features work just fine. You can also zoom in/out with the L and whiteboard zoom with the V.
Can you use the insta software at all with this setup, to manually control the PTZ? Maybe via an app, as the usb is in use?
Not that I know of. As this bypasses the computer. If you get the obsbot camera with the obsbot hdmi adapter I'm using they have a usb remote that you can plug into the adapter and control the camera. I want to get one to see if it would work but I doubt it as it's a different vendor.
@@elitheelectronicsguy, it’ll be great to control it manually! Keep us in the loop.
In additional, what extension cable that you using? I’m surprise the video works.
@@budaksim8779 idk it was a no name 30ft usb c cable from Amazon
Hey! So I've been looking at Insta360 to record lectures and I've been doing a lot of google searching and came across your video.
Will the gestures work regardless of the program it is intended for? Does that make sense? I'm trying to get an understanding of the product.
I'm trying to setup a small recording studio and I want an easy setup for lectures to use on their own. Any suggestions on what to use to record the video? Audio (other than Rode).
Any additional advice or info would be greatly apprecaited!
So I record in the atem extreme, no software recording it's all in hardware. The insta360 runs all gesture control in camera, so no software running for the camera.
@@elitheelectronicsguy I'm back! I recently purchased the TAO tiny with the insta360 Link (and ATEM Mini Pro ISO). A couple of weeks ago it was working just fine. This week, the 360 light is now red. I updated the firmware to both devices but the insta360 still has a red light. Any suggestions? I had another question, the only way to record using the ATEM is having an external SSD? You can't connect it directly to the PC? Thanks!
@@iRollBrayersYou can connect the hdmi output from the Atem to pc aa a source with a capture video device from hdmi to usb and record with OBS studio software to a file live from the Atem
My insta 360 is not working with Osbot adaptor with Atem mini pro. Link not detected. Any suggestions?
Try using hdmi 1 on the atem mini pro and the insta360s stock usb c cable. Not all usb c cables are the same and the atem hdmi 1 is different then the other 3 ports. On the extreme its hdmi 1 and 2 are the yuv ports and mine is on hdmi 2 on the extreme.
@@elitheelectronicsguy thank you. I updated the firmware and stared using a power pack. It will come on for about a minute then shut off. I’ll keep trouble shooting and use your advice. Thanks for responding.
Have you tested just pluging the osbot adapter into the monitor and bypassing the atem? Do you get an image?
@@elitheelectronicsguy No. I’ll try that now. I did get a Logitech webcam to work via Osbot and Atem.
I would check your power supply as well that camera does need a lot of power
I wonder if one could plug up multiple 360 camera's in that manner via ATEM.
Yes it would work with multiple ones you would just need multiple usb to hdmi adapters.
Cool stuff
What did you use to mount the camera to the ceiling?
All on Amazon, the pole is a "ground spike stake mount," and then I used a "cctv t-bar" attachment to the drop ceiling.
@@elitheelectronicsguy Thank you for responding! I just found all of the stuff. I appreciate it again.
@@elitheelectronicsguy One follow up, what did you use for the quarter inch screw to attach the camera?
@@elitheelectronicsguy another follow up, which usb c cable did you use?
@Marko Markolovic it just screws into the ground spike poles. I don't use the top and bottom of that and just use the 6in pieces. It then leaves you with threads at the bottom for the camera to attach to. For the usb c cable just look up one for a VR headset. If it can run that it can run the camera
Thanks!
NICE!
Thanks!
Why would you need the USB to HDMI converter? The ATEM mini can take in USB C as a video source.
No the atem can act as a usb webcam but it can not take a webcam as a input.
@@elitheelectronicsguy you are correct
👍
Just posted a new Insta360 Link video showing off the whiteboard functionality. Go check it out.
He I was wondering what USB C cable you were using to connect the insta360 cam to the ATEM box. Looks very long.
