    Excellent presentation, Joe! I've watched several videos over the past couple of months trying to figure out which sealant to apply to the New RAV4 we ordered in May. I've been a fan of Pan the Detailer for a while & after watching him use the Adam's Advanced, I knew that was what I wanted to use. I ordered the kit a few days ago & actually picked up our new Toyota yesterday. My kit was also delivered yesterday so I spent the day cleaning & claying it and am ready to apply the Adam's tomorrow. I did not polish any of the paint and don't plan to. After wiping down behind the clay, I can't find any swirl marks or fine scratches with these 70 year old eyes so the surface is ready. This will be the 3rd vehicle I've put a ceramic coat on over the past 2 years & I love how the first 2 turned out. The ceramic sealant I used was so stinking easy to put on & wipe off that it makes me a bit nervous to switch. That's why I looked for a video from Adam's tonight just so the procedure would be fresh in my head for tomorrow. You've given me the confidence to know I'll be able to do this. I will continue to watch your vids so that I'm more prepared to take care of this new polish job the way it should be. I wish you had talked a bit about using the ultraviolet light. I heard different views on whether it's smart to use one. I did order the kit with the light, but I'm not sure I'll even have to use it. The paint on our new Limited Hybrid is a dark gray metalic, so it sounds like it will be easy to see that I have applied correctly & when it's time to wipe off. It was 80 degrees & fairly humid in my garage today so it sounds like I'll have to hustle to stay ahead of it. Thanks for an excellent video!

    This coating is insanely good. I have it on my 2019 mustang and will be putting it on my new 2024 mustang when I get it also. I’ve had it on my car a year now and it’s amazing. I laid the coating on thick as possibly and it has crazy performance.

    Great video and just what I needed. I bought a bottle of the advanced formula that I'm applying in a few days. I have the product, the applicator pads, and a bottle of spray graphene coating just in case. I should be all set. I've read a lot of reviews of this product and my thought is, if that many people can apply it and have a great result, I should be able to do it as well. Of course my wife is a little miffed, because about 18 months ago she paid a pro $1,200 to put a ceramic coating on her new Rav4 Prime, and while she's really happy with the result, she's not happy to know that we could have done it ourselves for basically $150 all in. You live and you learn. Thanks again.

I've been curious how to treat and address bug guts that have embedded themselves into the front of the hood of my truck. My truck is only a year old but has been hammered by Texas bugs. I try to wash it after a trip to make sure they don't get baked in Texas heat but I think i may have some sort of damage from it. The truck is a 2022 black Silverado. I plan on ceramic coating it soon and would like to know your best practices to address bugs that may have embedded themselves into the clear.

  • @dustin3700

    I just used this on a motorcycle and I’m not sure the coating was still good, the bottle was almost 2 years old and it left the UV tracer behind on half the panels even though there are no high spots, but on those areas I left the product on to long and just reapplied and removed it no problem. The only issue was the paint was black and soft and looked good after polishing but after wiping off the coating with new coating removal towels it left some light swirls, if I did this again I would use the vary plush towels to remove it or the microsuede first then a soft towel. Definitely the most tacky coating I’ve used yet but also has the highest durability claims. I just hope the customer is happy. I wish I would have used the spray coating to help remove the coating since I had it on hand.

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  Год назад

      Hi Dustin, sorry to hear about the issues! What kind of motorcycle and what type of paint finish - was it a gloss black or matte/denim black? Can you email over some pictures to tips@adamspolishes.com for our team to take a look? If the coating was stored in a room temperature environment, out of direct sunlight, and the cap on tight, it should have worked well, but you must make sure to shake up the bottle very thoroughly to mix everything back together before use. The Advanced formula can be quite sticky depending on flash time and humidity - as soon as the towel begins to have some tension on the surface is when I will wipe it away.

    • @dustin3700
      @dustin3700 Год назад

      @AdamsPolishes It was a Harley Davidson it was a gloss black modern 2 stage paint and clear. The odd thing is I just used the same bottle to coat my own vehicles and it went on and removed vary well so the only difference was the humidity and temp. I was applying it to a hood of a new challenger and it went off well and seems to be removing fine and I even checked after applying with 2 difference lights one with a defuser and looked fine the next day when it looked great until I pulled it outside in overcast weather and half the hood was a high spot so I had to hand polish to remove the excess and reapplied and removed it within one minute and it was fine. Temp when applied was about 85 degrees and 60/70% humidity.

    My question about doing it panel by panel, let's say I do the hood today, then tomorrow I go out to the car and there is a fine layer of dust on it. Do I need to re-prep spray that new panel, or waterless wash, before I can coat the next panel? It seems to me that by doing it over a long period of time it increases the chances of the car becoming dirty and needing additional work to get it back to where it was on day one.

    • @AdamsPolishes

    To add … what’s best practice like you said should we use the larger applicators instead of the ones in the kit, and not use the suede towels just the soft plush ones instead? How many towels for a car? How many applicators? Doesn’t the product crystallise on the applicator during the couple of hours of application? Approximate flash time, how much overlap between sections and how do you avoid pushing product to non coated sections when you buff off? Also if you do sections of the hood, doesn’t that give you high spots where you overlap?? A lot of questions but I don’t want to screw up my car.

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  Год назад +2

      The larger applicators give more even coverage with less chance of overlap lines since you will make fewer passes to coat a panel. The small applicators in the kit are nice for tight areas though.
      The suede towels are nice to "feather" the coating - take one towel and hold it above the surface so that it barely drags and touches the coating, and literally feather it across to level the coating - no pressure at all, so that your fingertips aren't even pushing onto the paint. Then you can wipe away with the plush towel. Fold the plush towel into fourths, so that you have 8 working sides on the towel. Wipe the coating residue with it to wipe away about 90% of it or so, then use the second plush towel to wipe the area again. If you do this process, you should only need 2 plush towels for most vehicles, except for very large trucks or suv's.
      When you buff it off, it will smear onto the next panel - you can't really avoid that - so always wipe 3-4 inches past the panel you are working on to avoid having high spots on the adjancent panel. If you do sections on the hood, it can give overlap lines on dark colors, yes, so try to work with the body lines of the hood, then use spray coating to remove any overlap lines that may show up. One mist of spray coating into an applicator, wipe it over the smeared area, then immediately buff it off. If you do this within the first hour or two after initial application, it should remove the high spots.
      If you're worried about messing up your car, practice on a side window first, or pick up a test panel at a junkyard to practice on :)

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  Год назад

      Hi there, hotter temperatures with higher humidity will have a much shorter flash time before the coating residue becomes very difficult to wipe off of the surface. You may notice that you have to remove the residue in as little as 60 seconds in this scenario, but you will want to go by look and feel - once the oily rainbow look begins to dissipate and your towel has some tension on the surface (slowly wipe from a clean panel into the coating using very light pressure - if the towel abruptly stops when it hits the coating residue, that is a good indicator to wipe it off). Curing time after wiping away should still be 24 hours before getting moisture/dew/water on the vehicle.

      Leveling with a lower pile towel is recommended if you are comfortable with that method. We included Suede Coating Towels in the kit for this purpose. The suede towels in the kit work well, but many will push too hard with their fingers, and with it being such a super thin towel, you can then leave streak marks when wiping away the coating residue. The thicker towels like the Borderless Grey Lite or the Single Soft Towel will wipe away the coating more effectively. I like to use the suede towel with the side of my hand to gently level the coating first, then a plush towel to wipe away the residue once it begins to have some sticky tension to the towel. Make sure to shake out plush towels first, to avoid any linting into the coating 👍

  • @TheWildpanda86

    I picked up the graphene advance to ceramic one of my cars. However I’m used to what I did when I used Gtechniq ceramic on my other cars. When I used Gtechniq, I used the “3 towel method to remove”. Use the first towel to wipe, 2nd towel further wipe, 3rd towel to further wipe especially past the edges of the sections to prevent high spots. Then flip the towels for the next area. So one car would end up using a total of 6 of the yellow Costco towels. If I use what came in the Adams advanced kit, can I used the yellow Costco towel for a third wipe? Would I used it after the suede towel? Or after the plush towel? Or don’t even bother to use it?

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  Год назад +2

      Hi there, with our kits, you can use the thin suede towel to first level the coating using no pressure - essentially smearing the coating a bit without wiping much away. This will smooth it out more than the applicator itself. Then once the coating residue begins to have some tension, you can then wipe with the plush single soft towel, folded into fourths. Wipe with one side to absorb most of the residue, then flip the towel over and wipe again, more than you think you need to. We definitely agree, always wipe past where you are working to avoid high spots. Once all sides of the plush towel are saturated, you will notice it smears the product around more than it removes it, so then grab the second Single Soft in the kit to finish the rest of the vehicle. You can definitely use a 3 towel system, but be careful with some store-bought bulk towels - some of them are made much cheaper than others, and you do not want to end up scratching what you just spent hours correcting and polishing!

I don’t have a lot of scratches in the paint either. I was gonna just wash, clay, then use a white pad polish combo? There’s a couple light washing scratches, but nothing major?

    What would be the process if we wanted to use the advanced spray coating on a soft top?

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  Год назад

      Hi Colby, first you would want to clean the soft top thoroughly with Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner and a Cockpit Brush if it is a cloth convertible top, or Eco All Purpose Cleaner or Car Shampoo if it is a vinyl top. Next allow the cloth top to fully air-dry or dry off the vinyl with an Ultra Plush Drying Towel. Then you can spray Graphene Ceramic Spray Coating Advanced directly into the cloth top, being careful not to get too much over spray onto windows, paint, etc. Use the Cockpit Brush to level and even out the coating - wipe in one direction so that you do not have any visible brush lines and everything looks even. Allow the coating to dry inside overnight, away from any moisture or dew. For a vinyl top, mist Graphene Ceramic Spray Coating Advanced into a grey applicator, then spread it evenly over the vinyl surface. After about 1-3 minutes depending on humidity, buff away the residue using a plush towel like the Borderless Grey Towel. Hope that helps!

    What do you need to do if your car is day old brand new car except washing it before applying the ceramic coating??

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  Год назад

      At a minimum, we would recommend using Surface Prep to have the paint as bare as possible before applying the Graphene Ceramic Coating; however even brand new day-old cars might need additional steps such as washing, decontamination with a clay bar or clay mitt, and machine polishing to remove any light scratches or swirl marks. Cars can pick up contamination being transported to the dealership, and even one improper wash can cause swirl marks in the paint, so make sure to fully inspect the vehicle first.

      Hi there, congrats on your new car! For best results with our Graphene Spray Coating, we would recommend washing with a plain pH neutral soap like our blue Car Shampoo, rinse, and dry. If the paint feels bumpy at all, we would recommend a clay bar treatment, otherwise you can then wipe it down with Surface Prep before applying the spray coating. Surface Prep is an alcohol cleaner that will remove all oils, fingerprints, etc from the surface, so that the Graphene Ceramic Spray Coating bonds properly.

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  Год назад

      Hi there, you will want to re-add some drops of coating onto the applicator with each new section of the vehicle that you are working on. As you are working on a section, you will begin to see and feel the applicator "drying out" of coating - when applying, if your straight line application appears to be thinning out and does not appear even, that is a good indication to re-add a few more drops to the applicator. One 60ml bottle in the kit is usually enough to coat two midsize sedans, depending on how thick you apply it.

    Hey thanks for taking the time to share this knowledge. Like your products but wary of the advance coating with some saying it’s really tough to apply correctly and avoid streaking and high spots as a DIY process. How much harder to apply is the advance versus the non advance version of the Graphene coating? And what is the best practice fail safe way to apply it? Also your Australian web site is all out of the kits (including UV light), can we order from the US site?

    • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  Год назад +3

      Hi Jez, yes the Advanced coating can be more tricky to avoid streaks and high spots especially on darker colors in high humidity, hence the "advanced" name. But as long as you don't wait too long to remove it and inspect it immediately afterward in natural light to fix any issues, it's not too bad. Temporarily moving the vehicle outside on a somewhat cloudy day will sometimes show more streaks or overlap lines than on a sunny day. I like to use the Graphene Spray Coating as an aid to help fix any high spots or streaks from the 60ml bottle application. You should be able to the advanced formulas from our U.S. site, but international shipping rates can be very expensive. The silver label Graphene Ceramic Coating and Graphene Ceramic Spray Coating use a different resin that cannot be shipped by air.

      Hi Peter, you could certainly apply paint sealant or wax, but they are in different product families with different chemistries, so they will not be as compatible with the coating, and could actually reduce the hydrophobic behavior. • @AdamsPolishes
      @AdamsPolishes  Год назад

      Hi Greg, if you keep the bottle sealed and out of direct sunlight in a cool storage area, you should see at least 1 year or more for shelf life. Once the seal is cracked open, the more the bottle is exposed to oxygen, the shorter the shelf life will be. Once you pour some drops onto your applicator, make sure to put the cap back on the bottle throughout the process. You can also refrigerate the bottle after use if you have a small garage fridge - just make sure the cap is completely tight first. Once the bottle is open, you could see 6 months or more for shelf life as long as it is sealed up tight and kept out of hot areas and direct sunlight.
