Aaliyah was a triple threat. She could DANCE. SING. ACT. Beyoncé isn’t even a triple threat. There aren’t many triple threats in the industry. Thats how special she was and still is.

After Aaliyah died in 2001...a slew of female R&B artists came out... Amerie, Ciara, Rihanna and Ashanti ...I always felt the industry was trying to filled that void. 9:35

I don't think of R Kelly at all when I see/hear Aaliyah. Yes, he had control of her 1st album but she was her own artist and a legend for a reason.
Aaliyah is a dancer😂 Are You that Somebody & More than a Woman was serious choreo lol
React to her live performances, interviews, bts of music videos, vlogs, etc... ANYTHING💪🏾 RIP Aaliyah 👑

I was devastated when Aaliyah passed. ...I also received a call from a friend telling me the news. I couldn't believe it, I thought they were talking about another Aaliyah.

I loved Aaliyah. Her last album will always be near and dear to me.
Unfortunately I feel like her career would have followed the same trajectory as Brandy and Monica if she hadn’t passed. At least now we can say she left us at the top of her game. 💜

Do you really think so? Well, maybe, but what sets Aaliyah apart from Brandy and Monica is her transition to the big screen, taking on more serious movie roles, and she seemed to carry herself with a different vibe altogether.

@@Reactiverse1980 Yeah I get that too. There was something supremely classy and urbane about her. The only evidence I can really point to is that the five year gap between albums seemed to hurt her commercially because her self-titled album wasn’t performing well sales-wise until her untimely passing.
Also, I feel like the emergence of Beyoncé really marked an inflection point in the industry where a lot of prominent 90’s female artists (Janet, Brandy, Monica, Mya, TLC) seemed to fade immediately into the background when she came on the scene.

@@elizabethschubert7803 Wow what you said makes alot of sense. You know your Aaliyah stuff. Well...I'll just say, I hope that wouldn't have happened.

@@elizabethschubert7803 I disagree, other albums were planned with Blackground, then she was supposed to star in Matrix 1, Matrix 2. The album 'Aaliyah' was at about 500,000 sales when she passed away, while the album had been out for 4-5 weeks and 200,000 sales the first week when 'Dangerously In Love' by Beyoncé sold 300,000 sales the first week. Plus, she was still very young and had many projects. Aaliyah had that special something and was surrounded by great people, with Static Major, Timbaland (who continued to release hits). I don't think Aaliyah would have ended up like Brandy or Monica.
