Comic Relief is a British charity founded by Richard Curtis and Lenny Henry in 1984. Every year - it used to be every two years - we have Red Nose Day, where we can buy and wear red clown noses with the proceeds going to Comic Relief and British sitcoms often put on special Conic Relief episodes to help raise money for the charity.
Elton did a good one with Rowan Atkinson taking the piss out of his name for 10 mins. He might be a grumpy tantrum-prone primadonna, but he's a good sport.
Comic relief is like a telethon, it's a night of comedy to raise money for charity... They do live sketches, elements of a roast (like this clip), comedy versions of serious shows, it's a mix of stuff and they get a lot of celebrities willing to be the butt of the joke.
Elton John always willing to support charities, even if the jokes are at his expense, we usually hear fireworks around november, Guy Fawkes, and new year, usually quiet for the rest of the year, think fireworks in uk are rather expensive, another great reaction, many thanks for all your work last year, so looking forward to seeing your reactions in 2023, best wishes to you both 😊
I remember when mr Dwight would'nt have listened to 20 seconds of that stuff. He's certainly mellowed the older he's got. Though i fancy, with all these fascist governments operating now, UK included, there'll still be plenty that riles him.
Elton John could have been a comedian, hes so hilarious. I think this is why hes lasted so long and appeals to so many different people. His humor and 1970s cute shyness and massive talent appeals to all of us.
I live in Birmingham, UK and in my area fireworks are constantly be set of all year round. It happens so often I get the impression people are celebrating having a good dump.
About fireworks: Where I live (Sweden) fireworks are now regulated, so the only days when these are generally allowed are New Years Eve, Valpurgis Night, Midsummers eve (Not much point of fireworks here though since swedish summers are pretty much just a slightly darker shade of light! ) and also All Hallows Eve. If you want to light up fireworks any other time of the year you formally have to get a permit from the municipality, and the reason for that permit being needed is mainly due to animal care, both domesticated and wild. Thanks for the video! Little Britain is awesome, and Elton had so much fun in this video! He had some good comebacks as well!! Glad that you enjoyed it as much as I did back in the day 😁😁
There's an interview between Graham Norton and Elton John in Monaco or Nice from a few years ago, and Elton was really funny, witty, generous with his life story.
8 out of ten cats does countdown came about because of comic relief . It was done as a one off special for comic relief and was so popular it became a regular thing
I think it was for Channel 4's 'Stand Up For Cancer', since 'Countdown' & '8 Out of 10 Cats' are both on the channel, whereas Comic Relief & Children In Need tend to be BBC-based. Either way, I'm glad it exists! 😆 -x-
David Walliams knows Elton John outside outside of TV. He and Alan Carr (no relation to jimmy) was once on their way to an Elton John Birthday Party in Windsor and they pulled the car up by the Oxford Blue pub where we was and gave a shout and a wave to us. Elton does actually have a kid and he is sometimes at the school where my cousins daughter goes.
Elton parties at his Berkshire home(not to far from mine) are legendary, never seen Elton but the endless stream of Range Rovers and Bentleys to his party’s don’t go unnoticed.
Fireworks are mainly set off on November 5th (Bonfire night) and New Years Eve - sometimes people set a few off at weddings or birthdays 🎉 Love Elton he's a one off
Hi King Boomer. You must check out some sketches by "Bird & Fortune" - John Bird and John Fortune, a satirical double-act both of whom are now sadly departed, John Bird only recently (RIP). The format of the sketches is an interview by a journalist of a public figure. They are very clever sketches that will have you in stitches I promise.
Where I live, with the exception of the period around bonfire night and new year, a firework going off usually means the weed is ready for collection 😆
Yeah my neighbours between them set off fireworks around 30 nights of the year, around bonfire night we have fireworks every night for a whole week, every birthday, every holiday, drives me mad as my poor cat hates them.
Same with the fireworks here in Manchester UK too man. Every so often you just hear one, no matter what time it is. Is it Bonfire Night? Is it New Year? Is there a revolution? No.. it’s just a fucking Tuesday. Hooray! 🙃
Epic reaction KB. Happy New Year to you and Queen B. With the fireworks they do my head in too. For several days around 5th November and Christmas/New Year Birmingham in the UK where I live is like a warzone with fireworks. My cat and my friends dogs hate it. Don't mind on Guy Fawkes night or New Years Eve but not endless days on end.
This was broadcast in 2005. It's funny, but the way British society has changed means that some of the comedic questions make less sense these days. Sir Elton is indeed married now, to David. And they have kids. Obviously 17+ years ago, this seemed to be something outside the scope of thinking of even these guys.
Gay marriage was illegal back then that's why it was a weird question to ask an openly gay man. I'm sure both of them saw it as an inevitability that it would be legal one day.
@@mlee6050 There were a lot more bands than just queen involved in Live Aid but yes Live Aid only happened once in 1985. Comic relief, also known as Red Nose Day, was started the same year by comedians and is still going today. Thought to have raised over 1.5 billion pounds so far.
Fireworks usually only happen on 2 occasions in the UK, 5th November on Guy Fawkes night when he and his friends tried to blow up Parliement but got caught at the last minute, so sort of celebrating failure there, and the other is New Year at midnight. If anyone in Scotland starts doing the firework thing outside these 2 designated timeframes they will be told to stop with the obvious consequences if they do not concur.
