Speaking as someone who was on a boat with mechanical issues 140 miles offshore, it was a huge relief when the USCG jet found us and maintained contact until the USCGC Seahawk arrived from Carabelle, FL. The Seahawk crew checked out our issue, tried to get our engines started and eventually took us under tow to Panama City. I know that the 5 of us on that boat, and our families, are most appreciative of the USCG and everything that they do for all of us. Great video, Sam.

20 Yr US Marine here, these Coasties are friggen bad ass. Trained with some of their pilots in flight school and they were sharp, very professional folks. I've seen the videos on their rescue swimmers and I'm just in awe. As someone who wants to get a water survival instructor cert, I watch their content whenever it drops. Having to put your butt on the line and rescue people in varying conditions is inspiring. Cheers from San Diego!

Eight years retired from the Coast Guard as a AMT/Flight Mechanic and I found myself right back to the countless number of rescues I was a part of. Even still remember the commands/dialog as I found myself repeating as the hoisting was commencing.

Sam, this is by far one of my favorite videos of yours, honestly probably my favorite. From the MH-60 crew consisting of 2 pilots, one rescue swimmer, and a mechanic to the rigorous training endured by those in the rescue swimmer program, I've learned something new about the USCG today. The rescue scene was really well done and informative too! Thank you for sharing this!
Also, for an idea for a future video: Have you considered doing a video on the United States Space Force and what they do on a regular basis? Maybe you've thought about it but I wanted to give you a suggestion anyways. :)

December 1999 I as on a fishing charter out of Virgina Beach with my Son and some friends when at 4:50 in the morning and Southeast of Rudie Inlet our boat hit what was later determined to be a buoy that the SEALs used. It was grey and rose 4-5 feet out of the water. t didn't show up on radar and had no lights or reflectors. It stopped a 58' sport fishing boat that was traveling around 23-25 knots like a hitting a brick wall. There was a 4x8 foot hole in the starboard bow that ended at the bulkhead of a stateroom and the bow stateroom. A giant car carrying ship stopped to render assistance. The Coast Guard was spinning up a helicopter but canceled the aircraft after knowing we were safe but still sent a 47' rescue boat like the one in the video. The Coast Guard crew even brough us back to the inlet off of the ship. There are no words that can adequately praise these men and women for the job they do. P.S., because the captain shored up the bulkhead to the engine room the boat was saved and still fishes to this day though it has had quite a few upgrades and several repower events.

Sam, This was an amazing video. What a great experience doing this with the Coast Guard. Yours is so professional and fun to watch. I watched a series on youtube called Protecting Our Waters | Coast Guard Rescue Series from DangerTV and loved it. Keep up the amazing content.

Those waves are insane! I surf sometimes, and the ocean can be pretty rough. Those are some experienced swimmers!

Great video! You should do another video on Coast Guard boat crews. Especially the surf men who drive boats into breaking surf to save lives.
Thanks for shining a well deserved light on the USCG!
