I'm 40 years old. I don't have many regrets, but one that stands out is not following my calling to be a pilot. My dad gave me the aviation bug and would take me flying remote control airplanes when I was a kid. I still remember how proud he was when I landed my plane for the first time by myself, I was still in elementary school I was roughly 7 or 8 years old. I can still smell the fuel, and see the grass. You must be very proud of your son, what a legend.
I love how humble they are. I imagine it takes a high level of humility to master something so difficult as part of a such a synchronized team. No room for ego.
13:02 - "Hey Sam, how are you doing?" - "Good". While at the same time, tilting the head like an owl, haha. For real though, it looks like a workout. It's impressive how the pilot is having a normal conversation while pulling those G's.
My dad was the naval aviator for 21 years. Grew up in the 60s and 70s watching the Blues from Hawaii to California in Virginia. Much respect for the entire team the way they represent us. You did an awesome job in the backseat of number 7!
It's incredibly to think about how much sheer athleticism it takes to fly, can't even imagine dog-fighting. Not only do you have to have the tactics, you have to be an absolute Olympic level athlete.
Now, that gives a huge appreciation to pilots' abilities when they do the actual dogfight or when they try to shake off a missile from their back. Amazing how many struggle goes with your body when they show those nice tricks in airshows.
Respect to blue angles for agreeing to this video. and as always undefined high cinematic videography, I have visited Belgian airforce days today and then saw your video, finished my day
Hey Sam...you are a brave guy, dude! Those maneuvers are crazy and those guys in the Blue Angels team perform that routine every time there is an airshow around. Superhumans, and super pilots!
Saw the Blue Angels show at Guardians of Freedom in Lincoln, NE last month. LCDR Zimmerman did a fantastic job as narrator for the show. He knew the names and home towns of every single person on the team by memory, and he presented a 30 minute show without missing a beat using no notes. Military precision at its finest :)
Live in Pensacola and get to watch their practices all the time on the water. These are the best of the best when it comes to naval aviation. I've been fortunate to meet quite a few of them, and they are all great people.
Went to school in Pensacola and went to the air show twice. Even got to see low pass practice flybys at school on occasion. It’s the most exhilarating and impressive demonstration I’ve ever witnessed. Your chest is rattled by the engines, hearing muffled (definitely wear ear protection) and your heart pounding. If you ever have the opportunity, you must experience the greatest air superiority show in the world.
As a person who experienced the same thing.. that 7+G is extremely hard for any person or pilot… except these aviators here. I did see where you were flying in the “newer” blue angels.. superhornet. Congrats on that flight of a lifetime.
Blue Angels! WIthout a single doubt, my favorite alongside the Black Eagles. It is insane to see how daringly skilled pilots show off their performance that has been acquired in no other than repeating of trainings, trainings, and trainings. Kudos to Sam, engineers, air controllers, and everyone associated behind the video.
I'm pretty sure it was LCDR Zimmerman who did the narrating during a Blue Angels demonstration in Duluth MN summer of 2023. Apart from his aviation creds, I was also impressed by his articulation, poise, and honestly, keen memory. There is a lot that the narrator says and he spoke it all without skipping a beat, seemed so comfortable and natural. Was also great to hear one of the pilots was from MN. Our entire home state was very proud of her. Very inspiring.
Wow these guys must be so physically fit if they can keep a conversation going at 7 Gs while Sam looked like he was on his 500th push up then passes out lol
These guys are absolutely amazing! I grew watching them as a military brat. You seriously got the opportunity of a lifetime to get to ride along. As an Air Force kiddo living on a C-130 airbase, I appreciate Fat Albert getting some love 😊.
Saw the Blues when I was maybe 8-9 yrs old. Military air show my mil dad took me to that I’ll never forget. They did a high speed low altitude pass. Maybe 15-20 ft off the ground and so close I remember thinking I could have reached out and touched the wing. Truly incredible aviators. Dust coming off the runway and then did a straight vertical pull up to 20,000. Insane pilots, nothing but respect for these guys and what they do.
bro, honestly you seemed done half way through the flight... I never realize how much of a toll it can potentially take on the pilot.. these guys are in excellent shape!! GREAT videos! Thanks
