Young lady....you're only seeing the tip of the iceberg with this artist. Dig deeper. He's one of the most talented artists of our time. Unique style born from his love of the blues and is Irish heritage. He plays the sax, guitar, and piano, writes, produces and arranges. His roots are deep in the blues but he's managed to fuse his influences in brilliant ways. Like I said....dig.
Did you know that brown eye girl was sincere? My understanding is that he was seeing an African woman and wrote the song (your my brown skin girl) He had to change the world in order to record it. Again this is my understanding
My wife and I have been married for 48 years, and Van Morrison has been the soundtrack of our marriage. I introduced her to Van, when we in high school, and we’ve been listening to him ever since. You really can’t go wrong with anything by him.
He is a very talented songwriter! My favorite VM song is “Into the Mystic”. It’s about a man who just can’t wait to get home to his lady. Give it a listen sometime. I think you’ll enjoy it! ❤️
Van Morrison is what my wife and I put on for... Romance. We could be in a Walmart and if he comes on, we dance. :) His very best song, IMHO, is Into the Mystic. But he has a zillion hits.
Walked down the aisle to this song in my 2nd marriage. We were both 49. Loved this song for decades and we realized this song’s lyrics fit so well. We’d both lived life and had a lot of difficult times. He was a veteran. Just a perfect song. And this time I got it right. He is my soul mate. Great reaction.
I'm digging your choices so much. These are so many of my all time playlist songs. I feel your reactions, you can't deny those sounds. It's in our bones. If you have time I really think you'd enjoy Ray Lamontagne "let it be me" ... I think the world needs more of these soul snatching songs that make you feel those emotions. Thank you for keeping me entertained.💜
You can never go wrong with Van Morrison!!! At our wedding this song was my husband and I first dance. It also incorporated my aunt who passed who taught me a greater love for music and he was one of our favorites. ❤️❤️
Van Morrison's musical library is chock full of great great songs. And, although he suffers from stage freight. his performances are 'legendary'. There are several songs that have kept me between the ditches for many years. Love this artist.
I think I agree, but who are the other nine? To me he certainly is the best composer with the most expressive voice, of anyone that's come along since music was first recorded...
@@haskellbob well you would have to include Stephen Stills to that list along with Neil Young , Paul McCartney , I would be inclined to add Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger
Floyd and Morrison in the same day😁 Growing up and going to see some of these artists was mind blowing, keep doing what you're doing. Sending love from the UK
You are so wise beyond your years. Your grasp of the many subtleties of music comes from somewhere beyond. Oh and I have studied people all my life and I can tell by the angle of your jawline and other facial features that you are a descendent of royalty. I am trying to narrow it down to where from. Yes
This was one of two Van Morrison songs we had in our wedding, the other was "I forgot that love existed." Van Morrison is the soundtrack of our life together.
Wow you found him, he has a huge songlist , his music is timeless and effortless and always mesmerising. Definitely Queen of the Slipstream is not everyone's first choice but an amazing song to get lost in. Enjoy . Oh this was in the movie Love Actually.
First time I heard this man was 1972, I was 10 years old. In 1962 Jim Morrison was singing "Gloria", written by Van Morrison, he invited Van up to sing with him; Van got booed off stage?? That's Rock and Roll
My second husband and me played this while I walked down the aisle to this song. Summed up our lives. Thanks for reacting and getting Van Morrison. Listen to more of him if you can (Tupelo Honey, caravan, Have I Told You Lately…)
So good to see the younger generation appreciate talent and this man has it in abundance. My ultimate fantasy is a musical collaboration of Van the Man James Taylor and Karen Carpenter to just to hear probably three of the greatest vocalists together don’t know if it would have worked but my god I’d love to see if it did
My eldest daughter enjoys specially some like you so do i most of van Morrison songs i like and enjoy ,songs like did you get healed, foreign window, bright side of the road and lots more , van Morrison deserves plenty well done you are the man
I found my ''soul mate'' from far across the sea in a distant land. We meet & listen to music ''across the air waves'' every night & Van M., especially this song, is one of our favorites. But alas, to her I am just a friend. But I can look no further. Being her friend is far better than being without her.'' The Heart is a Lonely Hunter''.
A wonderful reaction to a beautiful song. One of the greatest artists/ musician's/ lyricist in music history. You should give a listen to his Album; "ASTRAL WEEKS" it's a master piece in music and poetry/ song. Some of the best musician's in the industry. All acoustic, from floor bass , guitar, strings etc. Van is a musician's musician as well. My take of him on the highway and traveling. Is based on him on the road all his life as a musician, making it difficult to find a true lover) soulmate. Not necessarily he was on the road looking etc. For the lounge sound today. But back in the day we were drinking good wine with candles, and incense burning. With pillows/cushionsc on the floor. And definitely found my soulmate. Had 45 years together.
This song was also in the romantic comedy "Only the Lonely" with John Candy and Ally Sheedy. Van another beautiful song you might check out. He wrote and performed "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" which Rod Stewart had a huge hit with several years ago.
That song was played @ my best friends wedding and my fave of all time it reminds me of my auntie who passed a year ago. It reminds me of how much I’m worth it and our bond together such a bueaty ❤
Van Morrison is THE man…… in my twenties … we rode the Van all night long…deep, deep in our souls… Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh this took me back… FYI Van Morrison - vocals, guitar Neil Drinkwater - piano Steve Pearce - bass guitar Roy Jones - drums, percussion Fiachra Trench - string arrangement Released 1987 Album:- Poetic Champions Compose
Nice to join you here. You have reacted to a wonderful variety of performers and artists and am looking forward to see what other.pleasant surprises you reveal. You might like Mr.Morrison's "Hymns to the Silence". I believe it's one of his finest. Thank you and wish you lots of sunshine and joy !
Thank you for another great reaction from your cafe - I mean lounge! Van Morrison is an awesome singer/musician! Try Into The Mystic, Tupelo Honey or Have I Told You Lately That I love You? Best wishes to you, as always!!
I was reminded recently that in two days it marks an anniversary of a first date that I had 27 years ago. I went to a bar with my date and the band playing was led by a friend of mine. About an hour into the date he dedicated a song to my date and it was the signature song of Van Morrison, namely "Brown Eyed Girl". 27 years later she is still my brown eyed girl and I feel so lucky.
The woman who all of his early songs (Brown Eyed Girl, Crazy Love, Moondance and Astral Weeks albums) were written about was his first wife, Janet Rigsbee, who he renamed Janet Planet (a name she didn't like). She left him in 1973, or as she put it, escaped. She, like many other people confused Morrison's music with the man, who was described by Joe Smith, Warner Bros' executive and the man who signed him as, "A hateful little guy." However, Smith felt that he was the greatest voice in rock and roll at the time. According to Janet, "The music was everything you could hope for as a romantic. The man was a prickly pear." Morrison himself openly admitted that he was not a nice person. Sadly, Janet could not reconcile the fragile dream of the songs that he claimed were true at night with his rage that had become her daily life. Of course, by this time Van was a money-making machine and everyone blamed her for his eventual musical slump that lasted thru the 80s (until 1987, when he wrote "Someone Like You," which may be about his second wife, or about looking for someone like Janet nobody knows for sure). As Kevin Courtney, journalist for the Irish Times put it: ". . .it's still oddly fascinating to try and square this Scrooge-like caricature with such beautiful, transcendental songs as "Sweet Thing," "Madame George," "Tupelo Honey," "Crazy Love," and "Into The Mystic." Maybe that's why Van's music has been so great - it's the only way the nice guy locked inside him can get out.

IMO, someone like you and Into the Mystic are his best songs.

My favorite all time artist. Dylan is a close second.

It’s been said before but no one uses their voice as an instrument quite like Van Morrison

The 70's music...there is nothing better!
Back On Top is a great CD, along with No Guru, No Method, No Teacher, Born To Sing, No Plan B, Keep it Simple. So fine Van music.
Love his music! You can't miss with any of his songs! "Tupelo Honey" is one of my favorites.
Nice arrangement.
