The best song I have heard, in years, powerful, nostalgic and with progressions and guitars with the unique atmosphere of The cure, an incomparable as a beautiful masterpiece
Chvrches songs to check out: "The mother we share", "tether" and be prepare for "Clearest blue" and so many more. I know chvrches now for many years and I was kind of disappointed when "he said, she said" came out, but this last song is just amazing. I can not count how many times I have played that now. So beautiful. If this is ever played on the radio, shame on everyone who cuts this before the outro.
I enjoyed this reaction ! I've been a CHVRCHES fan since 2016, and they are a fantastic band ! Iain and Martin writes great music and Lauren is such a great lyric writer, not to mention her beautiful voice ! I love her often very dark lyrics and to be honest, I think this is one of their top 3 best songs this far ! But they are releasing a new album in August, I bet there are a bunch of epic songs there that we have no idea of yet !
So great reaction ❤ you got a new follower now. So many Chvrches songs to recommend: Good Girls, Recover, Gun, Clearest Blue, Leave A Trace, Empty Threat, Bury It or Death Stranding.. and that's just a scratch. Greetings from Finland 💙
Hah, i was so excited about this reaction, and so it was 1 year old video, so maybe you have already reacted to many Chvrches songs. Well i will check this for sure 🙏
Love your honest reaction..but it killed me when you stopped it right before Robert's part ! Lol.. I'm 47 and saw The Cure for the first time when I was 10 and it's been an obsession of mine since then ❤ you should look on RUclips for one of the interviews with them and Robert ...they explain how the collaboration happened
The new album, Screen Violence, is full of songs like this: Violent Delights, Nightmares particularly. Though my favourite of this ilk is Science/ Visions. Other good songs with different styles are Recover, We Sink, Clearest Blu, Asking for a Friend, California (the last two from the new album). Their stuff is very varied with Lauren writing lyrics and Ian and Martin doing the sounds. Jonny Scott has been drumming for them for a few years but is not an original band member but is very popular with fans. The band remind me of an Eighties UK band as they have an ethical vent and try and put these in the lyrics. If you have never heard their stuff, i envy you a first listen. This new album is amazing, the weakest probably their 3rd album but even that has songs like Miracle. They also produce wonderful covers, look for Chvrches covers on Kendrick Lamar's Love and the Arctic Monkeys "Do I wanna know" and their Hansa Sessions, which is a bunch of their better songs done as acoustic with strings. They have a big online presence as they started as a popularised online band, so there are tons of online performances, especially on RUclips (their first, Chvrches live full show - Bauhaus, was performed just before the release of their first album and shows just how professional they have since become, even though it is a lovely performance in itself).
Since their debut album I was instantly a massive fan. The melodies, sounds, lyrics are just my bag! I'd recommend 'Recover' from their debut or 'Final Girl' from their current album. But there are so many other great songs. Too many to list!
On my first audition I had to take two breaks to realize how much I appreciate the composition so much on the very first try. Very impressive. Only few bands can make me adore a song like this one.
The guitar tones alone in this song are such an obvious tribute to the fucking Legend of Robert Smith. There is so much disintegration and bloodflowers influence like they wrote it *for* him.
This is my favorite song by them since their second album man so not a bad thing you started here. Their first album is need in the channel though. Gun, lungs, by the throat all great songs. Clearest blue is one of their best as well. Cheers
@@Yeedeed you know what Mike, seeing as we're both new to them, I think I'll let those more familiar with Chvrches send suggestions, and I'll enjoy the journey along with you
@@pazwretzky4673 -- so glad you dig it! their first album, 'the bones of what you believe in,' lays the DNA of their sound -- but it's a rawer-sounding record, in terms of the production. many will recommend this is where you start. however... i think 2nd LP 'every open eye' is the more polished, newbie-friendly album. "leave a trace," "clearest blue," "bury it"... great big tunes their last album, 'love is dead,' is the most divisive for fans. there are some real great songs on this ("graffiti," "forever"), but it's the most sweetly pop-sounding album in their discography to my ears. i LOVE the new singles, including this Robert Smith collab and "he said, she said." back to a bit more grit and darkness.
If this hitted you that hard what do you think of the entire album jus released over the weekend? Welcome to the cathedral. Hope you enjoy Lauren´s sermon from "The Bones" to Violence. I´ve been praying since 2015 when i discover Recovery and the Mother we Share. I am 61 years old. ¡Enjoy!
100% agreed this had a drab majesty feel also check out twilight sad and the cover by Robert smith .. yes cover! of their tune there’s a girl in the corner …. How many bands do you know that Robert Smith covers
excellent choice to review ! a little background, Chvrches first two releases were all synth and vocals. Ian playing the heavy bass appeared album 3, and on this release number 4. There is electric guitar on this lp as well. The live drum/drummer kit was new for touring on for release 3.
No not yet Char, but I did a reaction to a song featuring Simon Neil, and that was the first time I ever heard of BC. Would be happy to add them to the list!
Not my normal kind of music but I really did like it, I would put this on my playlist it may sound strange but I got kind of a Tears for Fears/ No Doubt kind of vibe from it👍👍💯
Yes that makes sense, tears for fears had some great songs, and I could see those vibes here too. And No Doubt I could kind of see too. The end of the song when it's just the guitar, that sounds so much like The Cure to me
Was it your parents who took you to the Cure concert at age 9? I know you said your parents listened to classic and current (back then) rock. My upbringing was a bit different than yours... at that age my parents were taking me to the legendary Grand Ole Opry country music venue in Nashville. 😄 Glad you discovered something you really enjoyed in this reaction!
Actually no man, my parents and my friend Scott's parents let us loose on this one! Things were a bit different back then as you know, parents didn't do the helicopter thing that you see these days. I'd be out all day on the weekends, riding bikes with my friends around town, and they never questioned it lol. But the Grand Ole Opry as a kid can't be that bad either, that's really cool man
I love the music and Robert, but I can do without the lead singer. Nothing against them. I don’t like her style of singing. But overall, it is a great song.
Hey my man! So I only have one effect I use for audio on OBS, and that is noise gate, which cuts out background noise. It admittedly makes me sound funny, but sadly it's necessary. So that screen I stare at when I watch videos, right behind it is my living room window of my apartment. Right outside that window are four AC units for mine and three other units. It's so loud that I have to use the noise gate to silence all audio except when I start to speak. Whenever I move to a new place, I won't need it
Chvrches somehow managed to write the best Cure song since 1992.
Best part of it, when Robert`s voice come in and make this very brilliant.
Best part of your reaction: the panic and the relief at: "don't be over ..." 8:30

I understand the obsession lol
This is a great song, and he really does sound exactly the same as he used to. I’d recommend The Mother we Share from their first album
The lyrics and Robert Smith make this song! 🧡

I love when songs do this. Where the arraignment is so mournful and beautiful, but the drums tell you you must continue to move forward.

The guitar tones alone in this song are such an obvious tribute to the fucking Legend of Robert Smith. There is so much disintegration and bloodflowers influence like they wrote it *for* him.
Yes, for real! That guitar was either written by Smith for this in the collaboration, or they wrote it with him in mind like you said
They obviously asked Robert Smith to collaborate and he said yes. All Chvrches members were and are The Cure fans.
@@Yeedeed I'm pretty sure the guitar is Robert - he plays those parts in the NME live performance, and it's his style and tone.

I'm glad you discovered Chvrches. They have so many good songs.
Few of my favourites from Chvrches to check out. Clearest Blue. Miracle. Leave a Trace (this last was the first song I heard from them!)
