Please let me know your thoughts after watching this one, I know it was a lot longer than the last 2 episodes, but there were a lot of games to cover. The next few should be somewhere between this length and the length of the previous ones.
I’d love to own a real Virtual Boy, but it never came out in Europe, and getting one with the game now would cost me £500+. So alas, I just emulated it.
Some thoughts: Giten is not technically a mainline entry. I forgot to mention it in the comments of the previous video, but Tokyo Mokushiroku actually got an OVA adaptation as well. Maken stuff has as much to do with Megaten as Bio Senshi Dan on the Famicom. It really shouldn't be here. Tokyo Mokushiroku also had a drama CD adaptation.
Ah, I don't mean to say that Giten is "main" in the same way as the numbered SMT games, it was more for sake of convenience lumping it under the "Shin Megami Tensei" banner, rather than a separate "Giten Megami Tennsei" banner, given it's ties to SMT. With the Tokyo Mokurhiroku OVA, I think I didn mention it in the last video, but under it's English title of "Tokyo Revelation." I agree that Maken X doesn't strictly belong here, but thought it was worth noting as many major MegaTen staff worked on it (Hashino, Kaneko and Okada.) so I'd argue Catherine is a closer comparison than Bio Senshi Dan. Though I didn't know about the Drama CD, so I'm really grateful you pointed it out, I'm working on doing a part covering the stuff I missed off once I've finally finished, so I'll make sure to include that there!
These are great videos! Where do you get your info from? I'm trying to find more information about some stuff, like the novelization of SMT: Kahn, but its not on the wiki at all.
Thanks! I started making these a while ago and I wish I'd kept a more thorough source list! For a large amount of the more obscure pieces, I found them through Japanese sites rather than English ones. (I'm not certain but I think the Kahn novelisation I found on Japanese Amazon)
It's a Light Novel called Haikyo No Naka No Jin, but unfortunately I can't find any English translation. You can get it in Japanese from Amazon if you want to test your Japanese skills. www.amazon.com/Shin-Megami-Tensei-Haikyo-Naka/dp/4829161353
