    I like this a lot. Some ideas!
    Theoretically this could be used as a low power high performance component for atmospheric air to water generator, or the process could be reversed for a gray water evaporator. 2 of them could be used as a low power high yield driver for a sterling engine generator.

    • @dedskin1
      @dedskin1 3 года назад

      nothing of that sort , this is not low power , this is high power ,eats up 50W in a snack , 100W if you push it like here , that empty's a battery in 30 minute's . 15A that is a lot

    Hello. There. Just recently viewed your vid. I am just confuse. I followed your video and i just use tec 12706 since its the only one available and use same heatsink with fan though i just use an aluminum heatsink but i put some copper wire around it. After connecting it to the power supply, i waited but unlike in your video, there are no frost or it did not cool the same as yours. Can someone help me. I will be using it with my cooler. Did you put the side with numbers on the copper heatsink? And the hot side on the heatsink with fan??? Pls help. Thanks

    So you dropped 40 gramms (say 30gr alloy heatsink, 10gr half of peltier - silica) of substance to -20 in 3 minutes. 40gr of alloy should have specific heat similar to around 10gr of water. 10gr of water every 3 min is 200gr every hour. That gives you around 7W of cooling power.
    You see, the problem is - just like soldering iron, weak uses 12W of energy to heat up to over 300 deg. But you can't boil a kettle with it, can you?
    In a same way you can't built fridge using 7W cooling power and wasting 180W of heat. Fridges power starts 200W with around 50% efficiency. So you need 14 peltiers. 12V times 15 Amp times 14 = 1520 Watt waste heat, 100W cooling power
    You might have -20 deg, but as soon as you move some air around your cool heatsink... You just don't have enough power.

    • @garywheeler7039
      @garywheeler7039 6 лет назад +3

      To compare, look at the watts, that is the amount of power used. The one used 12715 can use up to about 140 watts. The 12706 only utilizes about 60 watts or less. More watts, more cooling ability, but more current draw. The 12715 has the capacity to cool twice as much generally. A more expensive unit 12726 has much more capacity, 400 watts. I actually ordered one each of the smaller ones 12706 and 12715 today for the first time (Banggood). I think the 12715 he used is a good compromise. A limitation for other people might be the capacity of a regular car cigarette lighter outlet.

    • @garywheeler7039
      @garywheeler7039 3 года назад

      @@sumanasenterpricesumanaroy7338 : 15 amps is a lot to push through a little wire. In the US, that means a wire of 14 gage (1.63 mm) or larger copper wire or equal for fire safety. Otherwise the wire tends to overheat. Using larger wires always means higher efficiency of course and less wasted energy dissipated as heat. Sometimes the peltier units that have lower wattage, might be more efficient also. In a particular application. It kind of depends on the amount of heat or cool, your unit is able to transfer at a particular time. It is a little over my head not understanding the calculus of it all. The efficiency or thermal conductivity of the heat sink and so on. A possible 'bottleneck". That is, higher wattage capacity is not always better especially as they become more inefficient as the get hot and if the unit gets too hot is stops working I am told.
