1. Using the driver's door, turn the key counterclockwise to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center(DIC) displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). The DIC display will again show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. The DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). Remaining remote key fobs can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC display should now show READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
4. Place the new smart key fob in the transmitter pocket in the center console .
5. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC display will show that it is ready to program the next remote key fob.
6. Remove the smart key fob from the transmitter pocket and press unlock or lock on the transmitter.
To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 4-6. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode. Авто/Мото
Purchased remote start key fobs off GM website and used this process to program them states you must got to authorized dealer to get programmed because my car didn’t come with remote start fobs but I tried this process and it worked took me a couple tries but it worked programmed both my new remotes and saved myself $150 dealer wanted to charge me to program them. Place your new remote in cup holder closet to dash to program. 2021 Chevy equinox LT trim
You may want to add that the key fob has to sit just right or it won’t work. I have the style without the cup holder, I had to take the key off my ring, place the slot where key ring inserts down (where the emergency key comes out). I walked through it and placed them upside down and it erased both fobs.
I had to restart the entire process. If you have multiple keys, when it asks for key fob 1, place the key in the slot hit start button, it will ask for key fob 2, set that second fob in the slot, hit start; repeat for additional keys if necessary. Then pull both keys out, lock, unlock until you get them to react, I had to hit mine several times. Then hold the start button to exit programming. When the vehicle tells you to start the vehicle, you should be good to go.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this! It worked like a charm.
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
Have a 2019 Silverado RST here. First step took about 15 minutes to display the remote learn ready message. Will comment when I get through next step, If possible.
you deserve millions followers
Thanks
Wow, GREAT info here.
thanks!
excellent instructions, thank you for you great video
You're Welcome!
Dealer wanted $200 to program, I owe you a Christmas card!
Thank you!
You're Welcome! I will keep an eye out for that card lol
Do you know if this procedure works on my 23 Silverado?
My car alarm keeps going off when I open the door to get the dash on. Any tips on how to stop that? I eventually succeeded with my remotes it was a pain.
I had one already programmed but bought new ones . You can program three for sure but dont know about three. Keep patient dont worry about what screen says mine didn't say anything I just keep going every ten minutes then do the final. At end it tells me ready to place remote in slot wich on silverado is between cup holders on 5 seater.
You can have up to 8 programmed at one time.
I have one programmed fob for my 2019 Silverado. I want to have a spare, will the fob that is already programmed still work by following the steps in this video? Also the check engine is in for a sensor, will that affect it?
my car is a 2013 Malibu.
This model has a separate engine start button.
As you told me, even if I turn the first key to the left 5 times, nothing comes out on the screen.
How do I enter the mod?
Works great a little different on silverado. No mags but keep going bu the time and it works! Saved slot on the programming. Dealer wanted 179 to program each remote?
Glad it helped!
What was different for Silverado. I just lost my 2020 Silverado fob and want to replace it
@@stevewilliams6795 did you ever find out how?
I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado Ltz and my dash won’t light up when I turn key 5 times at all
What about programming the Chevy wireless keypad?
I'm not sure actually, I've never programmed one
What if i want to add another key?
I am looking to add remote start to my 2020 equinox, will I need a new laser cut key as well as the transmitter? I am ordering the GM remote start kit.
No you should be able to just use the emergency key from your old fob in your new one.
how do you program if you still have one key that is program already I brought a fob to replace the one I lost
You can use this procedure you just need to re-program in your original as it will be erased during. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video, you need to repeat steps 4-6 for your old smart key, after the new one is programmed.
Do you have the procedure for chevys without pushbutton start?
Unfortunately there is no manual procedure to program the fobs for non push button Silverado's of these years
Chevrolet cruze 2016?
Do you have a recommeded link for purchasing the aftermarket Keyfob??
I would reccomend bit.ly/CarAndTruckRemotes
What about a 2019 Silverado???
Do you have to keep the key in the door lock after you turn it left five times ? My key is on a hinge and I can't remove it from the fob. I won't be able to place it in the console if it can't be removed from the door during the procedure. (2019 Impala 5 button)
No, you do not have the leave the key in the door after the 5 times
@@PYR-Auto But that's a "flip key" It will not have push button start and will not work for this procedure.
Can you take the already cut key from the old keyfob and put it into a keyfob that needs programming?
yes
how does this procedure change, i have the same vehicle display just no push button start, only keyed. 2014 silverado 1500 denali
Unfortunately there is no manual procedure for a 2014 Silverado
Couldn’t get it to work on my 2021 Silverado.
So I checked out the link you posted for adding a 3rd remote, wouldn't that procedure work to program a new remote with an existing one as well without erasing the original? Why would it only work with 3 remotes and not 2? Thanks
Correct - the "add a key" procedure does not erase any previous fobs, that proceudre require that you have 2 remotes that are already programmed - the procudre in this video does not.
liked your video. can a mexico made silverado have the key programmed, and when your done programming, can the original key be reprogammed last or is it useless
Check your owners manual. It will have this procedure outlined there if it is applicable for your Silverado. Note that it musk be a proximity key with push button start. If it is applicable, you can also add back your original remote. After you push the start button and a button on the remote to add the first key, you give the start button a single push and you'll get a message to add a second remote. Place it in the pocket or cupholder as you did with the first. Then push a button on the remote and the start button 12 times.
What do you do if you have one key but not both and you want to add a second?
If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for the second remote
Sorry for long comment. Hello, I bought a used 2019 Silverado trail boss 6 1/2 bed in Wi this past fall. Very cheap and low mileage. Only got one fob with it and ordered one online after Chevy tried selling me one for close to $200 and another hundred or two to program it. They also told me that my truck came from Canada. I wish my car salesman would have told me this. Anyways, I found your RUclips videos and have tried your steps numerous times. No luck. So I looked up the owners Manuel and reviewed the section for programming your transmitter. In the Manuel it specifically states
“PROGRAMMING WITHOUT RECOGNIZED TRANSMITTERS
If two currently recognized transmitters are not available, follow this procedure to program up to eight transmitters. This feature is not available in Canada.”
It then goes on to explain the same instructions you give out. My question is, do you know why a Canadian truck can’t be programmed like US made? Or maybe I’m doing it wrong. I’m not sure at this point, but I’m at that point where I might just have to cough up a couple hundred for an easy 30 minute program. PLEASE HELP IF YOU HAVE ANY INFO!. Thanks. Great videos by the way.
Honestly I'm not sure why GM designed it that way but unfortunately there is no way around it.
I already have a remote, will I be able to program a second one with out affecting the one I have?
This procedure will erase all previous remotes and they will need to be re-programmed during. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeats steps 4-6 for your original remote after the new one is programmed.
Does this process reset a the remote start feature? My truck will start but the remote start feature doesn't work
This should not effect the remote start, the remote should function just like your original. Its possible there is an issue with the remote you are susing
You said this is if you have no remote at all. If I have one but am replacing a lost one is there another approach with one in hand?
You will need to re-program your original during the procedure as it will be erased. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for your original remote after the new is programmed.
Is 2022 any different if it's a push to start silverado?
I believe a 2022 Silverado with push button start should be the same
What about adding a 3rd remote
It is a similar procedure but it only takes a couple of minutes, you can find that here www.programyourremote.com/classified/2019-chevrolet-silverado-keyless-entry-remote-fob-smart-key-programming-instructions-listing-9638.aspx
I have a silverado but it ain’t no sedan…. this gotta be wrong
Will this work on a 2021 Silverado with no push button start?
No - unfortunately there is no way to program the fobs for the non push button start vehicles. You can program the ignition key yourself in some cases - those instructions are here www.programautokeys.com/classified/2021-chevrolet-silverado-ignition-key-fob-programming-instructions-listing-11077.aspx#.Y5eTKC-B2w4
How do you program a fob to 2019 Silverado that doesn’t have push start? 😩
Unfortunately there is no manual way to program the non-push button start fobs. You will need a dealership or automotive locksmith
If I still have one key remaining can I program another key?
Yes - you just need to re-program your original remote during the procedure. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for your original remote after the new one is programmed
Does this work on a 2021 Silverado
Yes, if the Silverado has push button start
When you say repeat the last step do you mean turning the key five times again?
no - If you look at the steps in the description box, repeat steps 4-6 for each remote after the first one is programmed.
Can you do a 2018 Silverado?!
Unfortunately there is no manual way to program a fob to a 2018 Silverado.
@@PYR-Auto shoot so I have to go to a dealer or locksmith? will AAA do it?
I don't think AAA has the equipment to do but you could check. If not then yes an Automotive Locksmith or Dealership.
Will this work with remote start?
Yes - as long as the vehicle has the remote start option and you program the correct remote.
If you’ve lost all your keys, how can you have one that’s still etched for the first step? I actually still have one. But need to program my new one
If all the keys are lost then the emergency will need to be code cut but a Dealership or automotive locksmith. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you will need to repeat steps 4-6 for your existing remote after the new one is programmed - as the existing remote will be erased during the procedure and will need to be re-programmed.
I lost one remote and just want to replace the lost one.
You can use this procedure to add a key, you just need to re-program your working key as it will be erased during. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for each remote, after the first remote is programmed.
Can you do one for the 2020 Chevrolet Spark Ls
If your 2020 spark has push button start, then unfortunately there is no manual way to program a smart key to it.
How do I program a 2020 Silverado push button start remote. I did the steps but keeps saying ready for remote 2
It just doesn't work. I get to "ready for remote 1" and cant get passed that point. I've tried 4 times now
It sounds like there may be an issue with the remote you are using if your vehicle will not accept it.
I am having the same problem. I figured it was the second remote I bought online (used). Original key still works
A locksmith told me GM keys can not be reused. Keys have to be new. I will try a new one i just ordered online. Keep you guys posted
I had successfully added second key, that I purchased online. Key has to be new and ready to program, in order for vehicle to accept it
Didn't know that a silverado was a sedan
its an XTS in the video - this same procedure works on many different GM models
Thank you for the video but from a manufacturer- this has to be one of the dumbest programming sequences of all time. Thanks again GM
Not a silverada
No it's not, this same procedure works on many different GM vehicles.
