1. He “charmed” his way into sharing a cab with two teenage girls, and finding out where they were staying.
2. Amanda told him her family was in Spain for the month, he found out they were home alone.
3. He asked which floor they were on, and walkie talkie’d all the info to the traffickers.
In my opinion none of the above would have happened if the mother was there.

I hate saying it, but she's such a bitch to him literally up until the daughter is kidnapped and especially at the end when she's all like omg thank you.
the mother's casual attitude about letting her daughter go wherever, with apparently no concern for her safety, was infuriating. even those of us who aren't well informed know a young woman, on her own, with no protection, is inviting every horrible thing you can imagine
The mother and daughter are very privileged and haven't seen the bad parts of life and so don't think about it. The father is opposite. He knows only the bad side of life and so I'd almost paranoid which is why they dismissed his warnings

Sadly, this sort of disgusting thing is very real. It actually goes on. Powerful people protect it. It's one of the worst things that we humans do. Repulsive.
How he was able to stay calm was unbelievable.
He wasn't calm though, that was kind of the point of the entire ride until the end when he found his daughter. You can see him get more and more desperate as the time goes by since he knows he will probably lose her forever by the time limit given to him. Once he's at that fancy party near the end he's in full on nuke them all mode and I don't care etc. lol BUT he doesn't look desperate or not calm overall, which is why he's such a badass.
I think he meant how he kept his composure throughout the entire thing lots of people would’ve passed out from panic attacks

My daughter was about the same age as the daughter in the movie and I remember insisting she watch it as a warning about how easy it would be to get taken advantage of. She just rolled her eyes at me.

Great movie, starring Liam Neeson, who was amazing in Schindler's List, and to think, things like this actually happens all over the world for real today.
He also a badass in a “A Walk Among the Tombstones” and “Nonstop”

First time I saw that trailer I knew I had to see this movie.
"Taken" is a top-notch film, one of the best. It's not just action, it grabs the emotions too. The closest films I can think of to this, in terms of quality and theme, are "The Equalizer" and "Man on Fire," both featuring Denzel Washington. Highly recommended.
There isn't even a snowball's chance in hell I'd let my teen daughter travel alone that way. I might agree but I'm gonna be in a disguise shadowing them the entire way.

Spare yourself the trouble and don't do part 2 and 3. This was a movie that was meant to stand alone. The sequels do not measure up.

I think the mother represents so many parents and adults who don't have a grasp of the true dangers of trafficking and somehow think it's an overseas issue, that it can't happen to me. When it hits home how different that is. Here in America many people have taken so long to wake up and are finally realizing what is really going on and that is can be right at their front door. Good reaction. I can tell your mothers heart and so much wisdom for being so young, good for you hon! Many your age and older are still in the dark, but you're not, yet you have maintained a caring heart! Blessings Always!

Schindler's List is one of Liam Neesons greatests movies. One of the most best pictures for a movie. Its a classic. Nuff said.
I loved him in A Woman of Substance 🥰. He was a joy every time he appeared on screen. When his wife tragically died, I was upset like I knew him 😭😭🕊️😪.

Nothing wrong with the girls going to Europe or with the mum. Have you not heard of backpackers anyone there are thousands of them doing this kind of thing. It's a perfectly normal thing to do. Well he has been around the world and seen all the dangers, his x lives with a millionaire in a damn mansion with security and she knows nothing.
In the auction scene when they are auctioning off his daughter, they said to the bidders she was certified pure. They meant still a virgin and with no drugs in her. Yet.
Look at it this way, If his daughter wasn't "taken," the name of the movie would be "passed up." Definitely a shorter film that's a lot less interesting.

For real tho. The friend, Amanda, lied about her cousins being there to the daughter, I forget her name but the point is how did Lennore not know this. If I said yes to my daughter going to stay with a friend's family in another country, I would at least talk to the family over the phone or something. Discuss living arrangements and whatever but it seemed like the mother was really NAIEVE.

Liam Neeson, you need to check out Schindler’s List! Great movie, and historical. Neeson was about 15 yrs younger in that movie. Many many movies, and most of them are really good!

Have to say that I love your take on the mother. I was married to a woman. A hell of a lot like her and she also left me for somebody else and I can't see what she sees in him.
He's not rich, he's not good looking and he sure as hell isn't anywhere near as intelligent as I am. I know that sounds like I'm full of myself, but I earned four degrees at the same time while working at graveyard shift and raising two children. So I'm a pretty smart guy. But a cheater is always going to be a cheater.
So I very much enjoyed that and because of your take on her and constant harping on her lack of character, you earned a follow. With this being my first experience watching you. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your reactions and I can tell you are an amazing mom.

The mom's role is so irresponsible, specially since the daughter seems to have been raised kinda "guarded/protected" so she wasn't ready to travel by herself.
